September 11, 2017 was a defining day for our family. Hurricane Irma made landfall in Southwest Florida, moved up the center of the state, and took my 94-year-old Great-Aunt Betty’s home, car, and all of her possessions with it. The following day, she wound up in the hospital after collapsing while suffering a heart attack.
September 11, 2017 marked the beginning of a very long and very stressful nine months of rebuilding her home, and her life.

Télécoms Sans Frontières, the emergency telecoms agency that we have been a proud partner of since 2000, has issued its annual report for 2017 highlighting some of the incredible work it has done and how it used our #GlobalXpress technology for the first time to power high capacity connectivity for disaster response missions including #HurricaneMaria and #HurricaneIrma .
Sint Maarten is still wildly damaged from Hurricane Irma in September last year, so it’s great that the tourists are visiting again (us included). We had excellent Bang Bang Shrimp rolls, a swim in the Caribbean, a great, humorous bus driver slash tour guide, and spotted free range roosters and goats foraging on the hillsides. There’s still a huge amount of work to be done and many people still living in shelters, but the people we met were upbeat and reminded us a few times that the French side of the island suffered much worse. They rely hugely on tourism dollars so if you are not sure about visiting, they really do need you. 🏝
Animals are still in need of help in the British Virgin Islands. Although much progress has been made since the aftermath of hurricanes Irma and Maria, many animals are still being abandoned and left without homes.⠀
On Aerial's most recent trip to the islands, we brought back five kittens looking for new and loving homes in the United States. Lucky for you, they're still available for adoption!⠀

Last year, as most of you are aware, Puerto Rico got pummeled by two Hurricanes. Hurricane Maria, the latter of the two, ended up causing the most damage and much of that damage is still very visible...Without getting political, there HAVE been amazing corporations, non-profits, and individuals that have done everything they can to help, but more is very much, still needed...In 2012 I had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in PR and immediately fell in love. Have wanted to go back ever since. When the hurricanes hit I was in Australia and couldn’t do much but watch in horror. Now I am stateside again and am dying to get down there to help out, so I decided to do something I have never done before, a GoFundMe...Yes, I am a little late, but the fact is PR still needs our help. Its not a finished battle, ESPECIALLY with hurricane season right around the corner. If you would like to fund my journey, please follow the link in my bio. Thank you!
Lucie was found with an injured leg by a local in BVI. Bob Bundy and his wife rescued and rehabilitated Lucie after she was flown to the States.⠀
As Bob says, "I don't think you can go wrong with a rescue out of the Virgin Islands." ⠀

So we got our house delivered today! We are building a 68x32 Jacobsen modular off frame home. It will be on a 40" stem solid stem wall (5 concrete blocks high). This wasn't my idea of a dream home...but thanks to #hurricaneirma ...that's what I'll be creating with it. By the way, this little orange machine and Steve, the guy controlling it, brought it from about 1/2 a mile down the street all the way up next to where it will be placed. Our entire crew working on this has been amazing!
