It’s tradition for the kids and I to make this S’mores Pie on Thanksgiving. Imagine five kids crowded around a mixing bowl waiting their turn to add an ingredient. Truth is usually the adults don’t get any of this because it’s a kid favorite and goes fast!
There is a wide variety of Italian food to choose from all over the five boroughs for all different tastes, then you have restaurants like Gastroteca that just seem to work for any occasion, or for no occasion at all. Gastroteca is a local trattoria where you can grab a quick bite or afternoon Italian brunch, but at night the dim lighting and candles class things up enough for a nice date or celebrating a special occasion. Turkish Eggs from @gjustabakery made with poached egg, garlic yogurt, stewed chickpeas, green harissa, and grilled bread. One of my favorite brunch spots in LA 👌🏻 Went there today with my sister and got this along with a smoked salmon bialy, salad, and Japanese sweet potatoes.
CHARCOAL GRILLED SHAWARMA // I was salivating the moment I walked into @beirutstreetfoodyyc after having been greeted by the smell of the chicken shawarma slowly roasting over the charcoal fire. I was equally excited at the sight of the hand made fresh pita. We decided to maximize our intake of the charcoal grilled meat by trying their Beef Shawarma Poutine loaded with all the fixings and their Chicken Shawarma Platter. 📸: Cinnamon Bun Pancakes - cinnamon sugar streusel, candied pecans, with a cream cheese glaze and garnished with berries! My friend actually ordered this and graciously offered me one of her stacks (mainly bc she couldn’t finish it LOL). Loved how the crunchy pecans and streusel balanced out the fluffiness of the pancakes. Definitely rec sharing this order! 😅
Sometimes you just have to choose relaxation over productivity.
This weekend I wanted to take some photos and write some blog posts. I wanted to do some Christmas shopping and tidy up a bit around the house.
But nah, mate.
Instead I spent as much time as possible in my PJs, had a nice bath and a takeaway. I read nearly an entire book and caught up with Grey's Anatomy. And even saw my pals for a few hours today.
What I'm getting at, is that yeah, I have no blog posts scheduled this week and I'm ok with that. 🙃

Sure, we love the look of our vintage ceramic pie plates or the fluted earthenware we just purchased for an astronomical price. It’s perfectly fine to bake directly in those pans if you’ve chilled the dough-lined pie plate in the fridge for an hour or so, but if you are planning ahead and have frozen your pie crusts, glass and ceramic/earthenware are oven safe but will go into shock if you go directly from an icy, cold freezer into a blistering oven. Metal and aluminum pie plates are sea-worthy and can withstand the thermal shock. See if you have an aluminum or metal pie plate that can fit inside your prettiest pan. Bake in the aluminum or metal, then slip the baked pie, pan and all, into the photo ready pie plate. Is that cheating? Absolutely not. #pieku#pietruth

Missing Japan everyday so I was happy to have my cravings satisfied @sukiyakihouseyyc last night with some fantastic sushi 🍣. 1. Amaebi nigiri with crispy fried shrimp head - my favorite bite of the night 😍
2. Salmon Oshizushi with avocado, lemon, ikura, and mango mayo
3. Stampeder Roll with salmon, tuna, prawn, and flying fish roe
4. Nigiri sushi - hamachi, hotategai, saba and ikura
5. Matcha Shiratama Zenzai with mochi rice dumplings and azuki bean

Dad's in town so @noreethaionbeverly was on the docket. Chef @noree_pla made a special curry from my dad's hometown that had fermented fish innards and gave him a Ratatouille moment (now I'll be driving a batch to NorCal for him).
