Mark 9:50 "Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another."
The answer to the question: "How can my neighbors know that because I live under God's authority rather than the compulsions of my own selfish desires, theor secrets are safenwith me?"
We often worry, as believers, that we might give someone the impression that we agree with their choices if we don't say something. Rosaria Butterfield points out that we are asking a wrong question. No one agrees with someone all the time.
She clearly puts into words things that have bothered me or unsettled me for a while. And I especially love the reminder to focus on my own sin. It's so much easier to pay attention to how others are doing wrong and ignore the sin in my own life.
I think that's my new motto. Love the sinner. Hate your own sin. 😊

Serve it up Sunday
You’re right, this photo has no holiday element to it at all. However, the significance of what this photo represents to me at this point in time means more than any holiday theme I could have come up with.
Over the past few years my family + I have spent a great deal of time within hospitals + hospice facilities + funeral homes around the holidays. What I’ve come to realize over the years is that it’s not just my family dealing with + processing + going through the motions + emotions of grief + loss + sickness. So many others are in the throes of it too.
Almost one year ago, I was in the lounge area of a hospice center. The center was gracious enough to provide light snacks + drinks. While heating up some tea, a woman entered + proceeded to take out a small bag in the refrigerator. We exchanged some light conversation + she sat down next to me. What she did next will remain one of those moments I’ll carry with me forever. She stood up, grabbed a second bowl + spoon + sat back down saying, “here, why don’t you share this soup with me.” Two strangers brought together because of loved ones nearing the end of their lives, breaking bread together - comforting one another, albeit quietly, in a profound way. The rest of that evening I would pass by her mother’s room. We would exchange smiles + a silent understanding that even in the midst of our own painful situations - it is better to be in community + share + even if for 15 minutes with a stranger.
Grief + loss + sickness have interesting ways of circling back to people providing food. A fruit basket, a freezer meal, a deli tray, a pie, a shared bowl of soup - it’s more than just food - it’s a gesture to show your deepest way of caring for a need when words + other actions seem insignificant. Food is nourishing to the body + heart + soul. Just as a pineapple represents hospitality - sharing food with others, whether it is during a tragic situation, a joyful occasion, providing to an individual on the street, or simply a quiet meal with your family is a way to provide so much love + kindness.
Let’s break bread together + rebuild love + show compassion.

Okay. So maybe my pompous, ego filled diatribe earlier today. (Like.. MUCH earlier today.) Has something to do with my relatively LARGE drop in followers, social media fans. Hey. Life isn't JUST about me? (And I'm sure in advance they won't mind 😉.) (What?) But. Well. Behold.. my immediate family 💖 (Have I introduced them before? No, I don't think I have.) And here we are! Close to the top of the shard. (London.) Enjoying festive drinks 🎅. Looks nice, doesn't it. Don't worry. It was. I'd recommend it in fact. #Hospitality is great, and the views are sublime!👌Ahem.. good Sunday yourselves? 🙄 #branding#personalbranding#individual#bespoke#selfish#rude#art#expression#group#team#freestyle#architecture#landmark#icon
