At the start of nearly every class we hit up extra mobility drills. Going beyond your normal warm up and making sure we're fully switching on the muscles ready for lifting!
As a result we're seeing a lot of positive change in movement and technique just from giving the body 5-10 minutes extra love! This one in particular is a great glute activation exercise 🙌🏻 #Repost @squat_university

The split squat with an inward pulling band is a great way to teach your body correct technique as it learns to turn on the lateral glutes. (Turn 🎵 on!!) This kind of exercise is called “RNT” or reactive neuromuscular training.🙌🏼

The idea is that as your body is reacting to the band that wants to pull it inward into a poor knee collapsed position, the body must “react” and turn on the lateral glutes to realign the lower body maintain good technique.✅

WHEN TO USE: I love these with athletes who are unable to make technique corrections with verbal cuing alone. It is also helpful in the rehab process for those who have developed knee or hip injuries due to repetitive poor movement patterns! 👊🏼

Recommended sets/reps: start off with 2-3 sets of 15-20 reps. We need a lot of repetition to teach the body & get this new pattern to become automatic.✅ .

Whewwwww what a day. The morning started off with @cassi3913 crushing her first competition, going 5/6 with a 46 snatch and 58 clean and jerk. The first time is always tough but she just tackled it like a boss.
The afternoon was @tylergulsby 's turn. It didn't go as planned but he still tacked an even 30kg on his total (100/132: 232) and qualified for the AO Series. As usual he did an awesome job doing what he was asked and even with a rough turnaround coming off shift. We learned a lot this meet that's going to really help us plan for the upcoming year. 
Thank you @moorestownweightlifting for putting on consistently great meets and always fostering such a great atmosphere.

Had great time competing at Townsonfitness yesterday and ended up winning the best deadlifter. Had to keep my selections conservative since I tweaked my SI joint 3 weeks out. Had great time competing at Townsonfitness yesterday and ended up winning the best deadlifter. Had to keep my selections conservative since I tweaked my SI joint 3 weeks out. Overall a great day. Went 6/6, finally snatched 60kg in a meet, and hit a PR clean and jerk at 81kg for a big PR total at 141. Thanks @morganvoz and @mccoachgram and the whole LBC fam for making this so much fun (and @thesnortlifesinglets for the dope singlet).

Rough day at the office. It's been a long time since I've touched anything over 400. I'm good at letting my brain over think the weight. 395 moved fast, I didn't even try to go up on 410 then dropped to 405 and as soon as I hit my sticking point I stopped. But at least I got to work on my bottom up front pinned squat 🤣🤣 225*1*2. Ended the day with clean pulls at 330.. also that was a weird hesitation/wiggle on the bottom of the 405 attempt.

The way I see it is I can’t use lifting straps when I’m arresting someone so why would I want to use them when training in the gym? Grip strength is so important for us LEO’s, hammer it!
