It’s so easy to fall out of love with your house when you don’t invest any love into it. Lately we’ve been guilty of this, I feel like I haven’t looked at our house in ages, if only to complain and point out what I dislike and want to change.
Today we have an exciting home tour with one of my favourite magazine and this amazing opportunity has forced us to give our home the attention it needed. We purchased one or two new things such as this 50s hairpin leg side unit and a couple of ceramics but mainly we’ve just moved things around and added much more greenery. We’ve also taken many pieces out of the space to avoid it looking cluttered and cramped.
But mostly we’ve just pulled our finger out and finally hung artwork that we’ve been meaning to do since Christmas, repainted over scuffs and marks, filled wall holes, changed lightbulbs so rooms now feel light and airy plus all other tedious tasks that catch your eye every day but never seem to actually get around too.
So having spent some time home styling this last week it was really nice to come downstairs to this little living space this morning and enjoy it.
Right one last manic hoover to do before the photographer arrives ! Enjoy your Monday all, we’re back open from 10am tomorrow ☺️
When I started following this lifestyle I would just buy the most popular items, or the things I thought looked the best. All of my money was being wasted, and it's safe to say I have retained very little of those purchases.
For all of my purchases now, I know exactly what I want from each store before stepping inside. I do not get a basket or trolley, minimising everything I have to buy to what I can hold in my arms. I also do not wander and window shop in the store.
For the cushions, I came very close to spending half an hour in Ikea - literally just looking at cushions. If I had reached the half an hour, I would have walked out of the store and thought about it more at home. I think by limiting your time in shops, you're less likely to make spontaneous purchases. Check out my insta story to see more on what I bought today.
What do you do to ensure you're intentional with your purchases? I'd love to hear some more tips 😄
Thank goodness for brain fuel on a Monday morning! ☕️ We're only on our third cup…….. that's normal right? 😆 #houseuk#houseonline#showusyourhouse
