An easy, fun fall themed lesson. Draw the outline of a pumpkin. (I used black construction paper and white chalk.) have your child first guess how many pieces of candy, I used candy pumpkins, it will take to fill the pumpkin. You can also ask them to guess how many it would take to outline the pumpkin. Then have your child fill the pumpkin, counting along the way. This is a great way to learn about estimates and practice counting. You can then use the same pieces of candy to practice other math concepts like addition or subtraction. I’ve also use them also to outline letters when learning the alphabet. Make sure to check out our science experiment, on our FB page, using these candy pumpkins. #homeschool
Monday’s super busy to-do list: make waffles, preschool, clean out + minimize the toy stash, ride bikes, collect sticks + pine cones, paint pictures, snuggle mama, aaaand eat lots of snacks. 🍎 #childhood
Shapes have been intriguing for Kannama, and she has now started to spot them all around us.♥️
The other day she spotted a triangle in a billboard. She often points out half-eaten biscuits as the moon, and chappati as a circle. .
As an adult, I know to look at one thing, only one way. Sigh.
Anyhow, so we did this stencil based painting session, and she was thrilled to make her own circles and triangles!
I went to my mom's place this weekend, so we found my sister's stencils and water colors set safely kept in her study desk, which came in super handy.
We have used finished cylinders from finished cellotapes, and cardboard boxes prior, but they weren't as a big a hit as this one. More about this on our stories :-)
“Everyone has been made for some particular work,
and the desire for that work has been put in every heart."
Follow your bliss. Pursue your passion.
This is common advice to young people setting out on their careers. And it’s not terrible.
The difficulty is determining what that passion is, and whether that passion is something you can actually do, and whether you can make any living at all while doing it.
Here’s one way through the confusion: Concentrate on doing more, and dreaming less. The first way to find your passionate work is to do actual work. And that starts by doing what’s in front of you…today.
What has life put on your plate today? What would it look like to do it with gusto, to work at it with all your heart until what can be done gets done? Then you can evaluate whether you’re ready to know and pursue your passion.
Pursuing your work passionately is the first step toward finding your passionate work.
Peace begins with pause,

There are plenty of moments during parenthood that trigger ‘Mum guilt’; that meal wasn’t nutritious enough, they’ve spent too much time in front of the TV, they haven’t spent enough time outdoors, I didn’t handle that situation very well... you get the point. There are also many moments that trigger the ‘I’m doing just fine’ feeling; last night I experienced both feelings simultaneously. Mr 8 has an eye infection caused by his chicken pox and has been prescribed an eye cream. Trying to get this cream in his eyes five times a day is, as I’m sure you can imagine, proving to be challenging. By 10 pm last night it was time to apply the fifth dose before bed. He is usually asleep by this time, so he was feeling tired, irritated and fed up, as was I, and he got himself worked up and began to panic. I remained calm for over 40 minutes as I calmed him and gently explained the importance of the cream, but he was refusing to let me do it. In the end, I snapped. I'm not proud of it, but I did. He agreed to let me do it, he cried, I cried secretly, we got the cream in, done. I felt awful. I made an excuse to go into the kitchen and cried. I cried so much. He must have overheard me as my sweet boy came into the kitchen, sat on the floor next to me and wrapped his arms around me. He asked why I was crying. I explained that it upsets me seeing him in distress and I felt guilty for snapping at him. He put his hands on my cheeks and said “mum, look at me. I’m not upset, I’m not hurt, I’m not in distress. I understand why you snapped; you’re human, not a robot.” Motherhood is the hardest, most rewarding thing I have ever done #motherhood
This quote has sustained me through a lot of hours wasted, worrying about our decision to homeschool, wondering if we were making the right choice. Contrary to what a lot of people assume, being a certified teacher really doesn't prepare you for being a home educator. It's as different as night and day and I've spent the last ten years retraining myself! Our faith is the foundation of our "schooling" and honestly, I'd be completely lost without it! At the end of the day, I rest in the fact that our faith is the single most important facet of our lives, and if we are guided by that, how can we fail? Thanks JPII!
Rasanya hampir tiada hari tanpa memberikan nasihat pada anak. Bener gak?
By the way, seat harga lamamu sudah aman apa belum?
Yesterday was a perfect Sunday, I didn't quite finish everything I wanted to. I've been washing the same load of laundry for probably 5 days, the clean laundry isn't put away, there's dishes in the sink, and I still haven't finished canning tomatoes...... We have been making such an effort to have more quality time together though. We ate lunch, we painted, made popcorn and cocoa, watched a family movie. It was nice. It needs to be more regular. This week I have (out of the home) work every night, it's the longest I will ever have been away from my children. As a stay at home mom, my "work" has been in the home with my children. Man-meat starts a new job soon too, a lot more away from home time. Everything is shifting, our stage of life is moving ahead, but we can make good of this change if I can control my emotions enough to be a positively guiding influence. My depression is unfortunately like another family member. I feel guilty for this but it is a major part of my life, and I'm accepting it's role in our lives. Change is especially hard for me. So my highs are high, my lows are low. I am hopeful, there is a new rhythm to our days that will work. It's just going to take time and patience. We need to get out of debt, we need to grow the farm, and build a future for the boys. This is the first step to having more security long term. Its essential, but still painful in ways. So. Moments. The good ones deserve respect and appreciation. ↔↔↔#momlife#boymom#homeschooling#homeschool#farmlife#homesteading#ruralliving#homestead#community#family#seasonalliving#simplelife#happiness#motherhood#momlife#homeschoollife#stayathomemom#familymatters#depression#anxiety
Matching Shapes 🔵 ages 1 -3 🔺 We are kind of obsessed with these silicone cupcake molds! They come in 6 different shapes and lots of bright colors. Expect quite a few more activities with them because the boys love them and the possibilities are endless. For this activity, I laid them all out and had Alexander match up the shapes. Great for fine motor, color and shape recognition and the silicone is bendy and soft for an added sensory element. So fun! 👍🏻 For details on where to purchase, go to raisingdragons.com and search for “matching shapes”. 🌈 Follow along with us @raisingdragons4 for more fun, educational kids activities. #toddler#preschool#sensoryplay
This is my favorite spot. It’s cozy and bright and it’s where I drink my coffee in the morning, read the Word, and lately I’ve been missing something extra to read. So friends, send me your favorite book recommendations. 📚 #coffeespot#favoritespot#readingnook
This kid. ------ Stomped off to his room in a huff when I answered "What are we doing today?" with "School."
5 minutes later he comes out to the couch and starts practicing multiplication facts. For fun. ------
I finally decided how I wanted to frame the girls' beautiful, fabric "sun prints"... embroidery hoops for the win!
The girls and their homeschool group joined the lovely @nicholevanbeek at @kingsbraegarden earlier this year to create these cyanotypes. The leaves were collected from the gardens, which makes these such precious souvenirs of that day. All the children were in awe at this style of print making and we can't wait to try it again. Have you tried this process with your kids? .
I placed a link in my bio if you want to give fabric sun prints a try too! .
The house is clean, the windows are open, Elton John is playing on Pandora, and this is when it hits me. It’s not the February homeschool burn out, it’s the gorgeous weather. .
October, November, and then February and March, the weather in Florida is glorious, and I just want to sit outside watch my chickens all day. I want to put up my Christmas tree today. I want to go camping and sit in the woods. .
But, we have books to read and narrate, living ideas to hear. So today, we will do school on the porch and soak in the fleeting days. .
If you haven’t done the farm tour at Tropical Fruit World 🥑 yet, I can definitely recommend it! Fruit tasting (including fruits we didn’t even know existed!), tractor 🚜 tour around the farm, feeding the animals at the animal farm, boat ride to treasure island where there was plenty of games and a mini train ride, morning tea which included bananas and macadamias (which we got to crush open ourselves) just to name a few things included on this tour! We had so much fun and learnt so much 👌🏼🙌🏼 certainly won’t be our last trip there that’s for sure 😊🥑🍍🍌🍇🍊
You can teach a Student a lesson for a day, but if you can teach them to learn by creating curiosity, they will continue the learning process for as long as they live.

Seperti halnya buku-buku Little Abid. Little Abid didesain khusus untuk anak usia mulai balita. Isi ceritanya bukan sekadar menghibur tapi juga full pesan mulai dari nilai-nilai karakter, agama, maupun keterampilan hidup.
Sudah siap bacakan cerita untuk anak?

(Memories.) This is 3 years ago when I use to read to my girl for homeschooling. I think we were reading about evolution vs. creation. (It’s a JOY to teach my children truth...whether from a Bible study or even in their education.) Train a child up in the way they should go and when they are older they will not depart from it. I simply MUST speak that word over my children and believe what God says.
This love is a quieter one, but when she opens her mouth, she has wise words. She and I had a heart to heart conversation yesterday, just talking about life, and she told me that she told a friend that she does not find her worth in people but only in Jesus. 💕✨
Be. Still. My. Heart! No greater joy than to see your kids chasing after Him.
Keep praying WITH your kids and for your kids and keep speaking the word over them. Never ever EVER stop praying and ministering to your kids. ♥️✨ #homeschooling#creationism#thereisagod#trainachild
Day 7 of Focusing in on the every day. Breakfast was interrupted by a question about Alaska and rainforests (sparked by a book). So we looked up Alaska on the globe and found the Tongass National Forest in SE Alaska and looked at beautiful pictures. One definite benefit of #homeschooling .
#playfulpioneers starts today @thepeacefulpress ! We decided to dye hand towels instead of silk scarves because for us this seems more practical. Hope it works! The kids are really excited to start this curriculum!
