What makes everything so special, is essentially only our individual accomplishments.
For almost the past year, we have changed. Dug out negative habits, and drove our house on without them. Looked at the world in awe, and witnessed ourselves feel inspired. Whats so special to me is that we are still out here, on the road, today, even as you read this. The journey continues to unfold in a new direction each and every waking hour, it has became the core of our spirits.
Prior to leaving, living sustainably in our society without being able to get up and leave, was a hardship of mine. We changed that, and allowed ourselves the freedom to do it now, instead of wasting a bet that we would treat ourselves to it later in life.
What is so special to me is that we have the courage to face this world with a smile and a quarter tank of gas. Nothings stopping these flowing waters baby, cause we are always moving with it. 🌍 -J ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
This little lady hasn’t moved in months, since Phish at the Gorge. We’ve been enjoying Washington and Kevin has been working at Microsoft in Bellevue. We’re currently getting frozen out though as the weather changes. We have a mini split and while it heats, it’s incredibly loud and shakes the house, so it can only be on during the day. For the 11 hours the boys are asleep, we turn it off and for the last 2 weeks have been waking up to a 50 degree house. Kevin is driving it to Oregon to our builder today in the hope that they can finally fix the problem and we also plan on putting in a small wood stove. Since we haven’t moved her in so long though, things accumulated in random places. Last night as I was getting her ready for her voyage today, I realized that minimalism isn’t a one time thing. It is a constant, day to day endeavor, keeping track of the things that serve a purpose in your home and in your life while donating the things that no longer serve you. Now she’s ready for her trip today; plants are down, cabinets are latched, ladder is strapped, pictures and guitar are resting on the bed, chairs are down and everything is put away. Send @kmmartin19 your good driving juju today and hopefully @tinyheirloom can get us up and running!
@bluegrassbicyclecompany made my life on the road a thousand times happier yesterday with a few cassette tapes (and good company... And wine...). Before I had Noah I spent a lot of time on the road in a 1997 Ford Ranger with a 10 disc changer. These albums were ALWAYS in the rotation and I've been hoping to find them in cassette form to put me in my happy place again. Of course Tania had them all, just waiting for me to make that purchase. 😜 First up... Steve Miller Band. #yourethecutestthingthatieverdidsee
#rvlife Is anything but boring. There’s deer outside, tree trimming to watch and more. It’s been a busy morning! About 30 straight minutes of dancing, 30 straight minutes of “chase”, a pretty fun game of bear and tent (kids hide, mom is the bear🤣😂) and some “calm” time for schoolwork and coloring. Now lunch is over and I’m thinking I may need to join in on nap time. #phew !
I offered our RV neighbors some Alaskan salmon we smoked yesterday and they offered a trade—I think we got the better deal! 😋 As I’ve said before, I’m trying to reach out and talk to/love on my fellow RVers more, and what a gratifying effort that has been so far (and not just because I got huckleberry jam to show for it!) A gentleman struck up a conversation with me three days ago, and normally I would reply and go on my way—as if I have some place to be!—but this time I decided to really engage, ask questions, stop and listen. Turns out he and his wife are from Spokane and are very familiar with where my hubby grew up. They also snowbird in Quartzsite, Ariz. where Spanky’s grandma and great-aunt have gone for years. On top of that, they are gold prospectors, so we had plenty to chat about! I ended up talking to them for three hours (!!) then they came over and chatted with Spank and I for two hours the next evening! All this to say—make the time to talk to people! You won’t regret it. In this busy, hectic, tech-centered world it’s easy to avoid human interaction, but we need one another. Slow down and show love. #lovedoes#lotsofhugsandhuckleberries#rvlife#homeiswhereyouparkit
Anyone have some good rehab techniques for kiddos after a broken leg? This little 🌻 Child gets her high cast off tomorrow afternoon. Amazing how kids adapt so fast! We asked her if she was excited to get the big cast off? Finley replied: No not really! It has already become part of her and she has learned to just about everything she used to with it on. Including now walking on it 😲 which is hilarious by the way! 😂..... praying for a walking boot for the remaining 2 weeks so we can wash that stinky foot.
