Hellooooo! Happy 2nd week of Advent! So, I haven’t caught up yet (as you can see, haha), but today’s post has been sitting in my computer hard drive for over a week now because I felt a need to post at the right timing. Today, I reflect on St. Joseph and his role within the Holy Family, relating it to the irrational fear of peace that sometimes dwells in my heart. Happy reading, and as always, link in bio!
Tonight we brought out Judes @fisherprice Little People Nativity. I had bought this when he was an infant at a consignment sale and put it away until he was old enough to understand it. We talked about the Christmas story and how that was Baby Jesus and it was a cold night. We set up all the main people and animals and I was loving that special moment with him and Jay. 💖
But, Jude’s main concern was where does Baby Jesus go pee? He then took the hay off the barrel and put Baby Jesus on there to do his business. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️😂
What a joy it is to have the flexibility to attend the dress rehearsal for my son's school Christmas program today! I got to sit right up front and be 'that' mom and take all the pictures 😂 If you can't tell, he's the adorable blessed donkey.
Just a little shout out to say 'thank you' to my amazing customers that make this mompreneur life work! I appreciate each and every sale 💕 .
I found this holy card while I was pacing the church narthex with a cranky baby one day. It brought me comfort then, and it still brings me comfort during times of stress or transition for our family. It’s particularly fitting now that it’s Advent and our new baby could come any day.✨#advent#holyfamily
Since Joseph belonged to David’s house and family line, he went up from the city of Nazareth in Galilee to David’s city, called Bethlehem, in Judea. He went to be enrolled together with Mary, who was promised to him in marriage and who was pregnant. While they were there, the time came for Mary to have her baby. She gave birth to her firstborn child, a son, wrapped him snugly, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the guestroom.
The Belles Hours of Jean de France, duc de Berry, produced in Paris between 1405-1409 by the Limbourg brothers.
This book is one of the most sumptuous works from the Middle Ages, and is in fact the only book completed by the Limbourg brothers in it entirety.
Folio 63r depicts the Flight into Egypt. The movement in this miniature is fascinating - you’ll notice it appears that Christ attempts to struggle from his mother’s embrace, and as the Holy Family passes, idols in the background crumble and fall. Footprints in the dirt mark their progress, an angel points the way to safety, and Joseph turns to look anxiously over his shoulder. The scene is full of dramatic tension, yet the Virgin, with only a sliver of her face visible and seated upon a docile donkey, serves to anchor the image. As the picture cycles chosen for this book held significance for the duke, to have Mary as the stabilizing focus is very fitting for the contemplation of the Hours of the Virgin.
“The reality of Christmas, for me, is not primarily what I learned at seminary or in the research I slogged through in pursuit of a doctorate. Christmas is, for me, the joy and love that passes between a young woman and the child who had been placed in her arms. That child was Jesus, and in time he made way for another child who needed love—and that child was you—and that child was me. He grew and redeemed us so that he could welcome us into the life he lived here on earth. He welcomed us into the very family he created for himself.” -Scott Hahn, Joy to the World: How Christ’s Coming Changed Everything (and Still Does)
I cannot recommend this book enough! I read it last year during Advent and find myself rereading it agin this year.
Most of us have read or heard the story of the Nativity since childhood, but this gave me brand new eyes for it as an adult. —
Lord, thank you for the members of your Church who continually dig deep to discover and unlock truths that make our faith and understanding richer. May we never stop wanting to learn more about you and your great love for us. Amen.
This week during indoor recess, our Kindergarten class did yoga and go noodle! They are did an amazing job following the instructions and were careful not to hit anyone around them. Go noodle and yoga helps boost self confidence, enhance focus and helps children learn cross lateral skills. #tbay#tbcschools#holyfamily#selfregulation
