Oh gosh I couldn’t wait until Tuesday to make these tacos. Crumbled baked tofu, sautéed green peppers, onions, lime soaked shredded red cabbage, fresh mashed guacamole, & a sprinkle of fresh chopped cilantro. Delicious and satisfying.

Strangest food combo of the week goes to...a side of #durian to go with my regular bone broth with scallops, beef liver, bamboo shoots, and oysters. (And coconut water to help with the “cooling effect.” If my grandmother knew I made this pairing she would tell me I would be so “heaty” and I’d get sore throat the next day..we’ll see, 😂
Durian, a Malaysian favorite fruit, I would often hear people say how it’s high in sugar, what they don’t know is that durian contains rather balanced amount of carbs / fats / protein, with the fat being mostly monounsaturated fats
People often demonize a certain food group and forget what else we are eating along with the food. I can tell you as much as I love fruits I also love meats and fats so it only makes sense if my ratio is being monitored. If taking out a certain food group (most chooses carbs) helps you stay adherent to your diet, have a go at it. Seeing how people regularly fail to maintain weight long term with elimination diet, I don’t don’t see the sustainability of it
Take full advantage of the durian season, enjoy while it lasts !

"Let fresh thoughts come in like the morning breeze, to blow off the cobwebs that you're ready to release..." Our thoughts are like writing on a slate and you can clear the slate and always start again. Sometimes, our goals fall by the wayside, sometimes they go flying out of the window, sometimes they get pushed out by other more imminent demands upon us.
The thing is, life happens, and we must give it the space to happen, but whilst always remembering that in every moment, we are the master of our thoughts. We can wipe the slate clean and re-write when we choose.
It is when we think that our writing is in permanent paint and not in chalk, that we lose fluidity and we feel stuck.
Today, we invite you to think about a goal that you feel you are struggling with. Close your eyes, visualise the room of your mind and let the morning breeze bring in fresh thoughts of motivation, blowing off the cobwebs which are lingering in the room. The breeze comes from an easterly direction, from the belief in your worthiness to achieve the goal because your heart desires it. The breeze does not come from a westerly direction with an imposition of what others think you should be doing or need you to do for them.
Wishing you a Monday that seizes the day, knowing that you are born to achieve whatever your heart truly desires.
Great advice from @frandargaville. Head on over to her page and take up her current #mindfullmorningchallenge of waking up and doing something for yourself instead of screen tim #Repost @frandargaville with @get_repost

Join me for the #MINDFULMORNINGCHALLENGE which kicks off today.
All you have to do is:

BOOSTING THE IMMUNE SYSTEM
During this time of the year when I either feel a bit under the weather or I am just starting to get a bit sick, I add in some extra supplements to fight off a cold or infection.
1️⃣VITAMIN C: needed by several cells of the immune system to perform their tasks
🍋found in: e.g. citrus fruit, bell peppers, spinach, kale & broccoli
2️⃣ZINC: can fight infections & heal wounds
🥩found in: e.g. red meat, shellfish, legumes, nuts
3️⃣VITAMIN B6: is vital for supporting biochemical reactions in the immune system
🥬found in: e.g. green vegetables, chickpeas, chicken & cold water fish like salmon and tuna
4️⃣VITAMIN E: is a powerful antioxidant that helps fighting off infections
🌰found in: nuts, seeds & spinach
5️⃣L-GLUTAMINE: can reduce inflammation, help fighting the cold & boost the digestive system
6️⃣N-ACETYL L-CYSTEINE: is a form of the amino acid cysteine and supports our immune’s system function by replenishing the antioxidant glutathione, clearing mucus in respiratory conditions (like bronchitis) & it might help protecting against flu
7️⃣ASTRALAGUS ROOT: might be an impressive immune booster and it is an adaptogen that regulates stress & fatigue
👉🏻Before supplementing any of these, consult your physician and try to get all the nutrients through a diet rich in those immune boosters!

No cutting carbs, drastically reducing calories or weighing myself weekly or even monthly 🙅🏻
You may hear it a lot, but I'll say it again for the people in the back: it's a lifestyle ✨👟
Not a six week challenge
Not a "super food" or "magical diet"
Just training to my limits, eating what makes me feel good, and being real with myself 💕
I hope everyone takes a much deserved rest over the holidays, eat yummy food and be jolly 😃😍
Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, didn’t just prescribe homeopathic remedies to his patients. He also gave them specific lifestyle advice regarding diet, exercise, and a healthy lifestyle. Broth is a great (and cozy!) addition to your winter wellness routine. Here’s a nutrient dense recipe created by Dr. Henry Bieler to heal his patients. Bieler’s broth contains zucchini and string beans, which are rich sources of organic potassium and sodium which are used by the liver to clean and revitalize the body. -3 stalks of celery -3 whole zucchini -2 cups of string beans -1 cup of (Italian)parsley
1 Tbl. of unsalted butter
Directions for making the broth
Put 1 cup of water into a stockpot. Put the string beans in first and steam for about 5 minutes. Then put in the celery and zucchini into the pot and steam for another 5 - 7 minutes or until tender, but still crisp. Do not overcook.
Then put the vegetable water and the cooked vegetables together into the blender. Blend until liquefied. Add a teaspoon of raw unsalted butter and a large handful of parsley. Blend again until parsley is liquefied.
Dosage: Drink 2 cups a day of the broth/soup for an excellent way to stay healthy. Optional add 1 clove of garlic. Recipe courtesy of @wellnessmama #healingfood#holisticnutrition#selfcaresunday

The pineal gland, seat of the soul, or third eye is an endocrine gland located deep in the brain. It secretes the hormones melatonin, which is responsible for maintaining the body’s internal clock and rhythm and regulates sleeping and waking cycles, and serotonin, a neurotransmitter that is responsible for maintaining a happy and well-balanced state of mind. As the body ages the pineal gland begins to calcify and become sluggish. Every person is different but lifestyle and consuming excessive amounts of fluoride are risk factors. Fluoride collects in extremely high amounts in the pineal gland causing faster calcification and decreases melatonin production (this is just one of the reasons I stress replacing tap water with filtered water). Research shows a strong correlation in the development of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, and the calcification of the pineal gland. A poor diet, laden with preservatives, chemicals and pesticides is also a risk factor for calcification and premature aging. Proper sleep is important too.
I find this super interesting and can’t wait to learn more! #pinealgland#seatofthesoul#thirdeye#holisticnutrition#student#mindbodyspirit#learninghealinggrowing
How to optimise or regain fertility
Fertility is by far one of my favourite topics. And coincidentally oestrogen- which plays a big part in fertility outcomes.
The hormone oestrogen is a mediator of your fertility. When oestrogen is low- this can make your menstrual cycle erratic, irregular or absent altogether. It is also the result of the infertility condition, PCOS (polycstic ovarian syndrome), as well as menopause. This issue may not just lie within its impact on fertility, but also its impact on lowering bone density...
How do we get low oestrogen?
Our hormones are naturally meant to fluctuate throughout our lifespan. However, factors like low body weight and excessive exercise can bring on early onset oestrogen deficiency. Symptoms can include poor memory, candida (thrush) infections, palpitations, depression, insomnia, vaginal dryness.
How can we boost our oestrogen and increase our fertility?
. Replace high intensity exercise with walking, yoga and gentle strength based exercise. If you are looking to become pregnant soon, participating in high intensity cardio exercise more than twice a week, may compromise your fertility chance, whether it has or hasn’t already impacted your menstrual cycle.
. Aim to gain weight if you are underweight. This is essential and comes first in order for all other tips to work. This can be done through eating nutritious foods frequently. Aim for 3 snacks and 3 meals everyday, emphasising starchy foods such as bananas, sweet potato, pumpkin.
. Boost your oestrogen levels through food. Sesame seeds (especially tahini), legumes and chickpeas are high sources of phytoestrogens, known to bind to oestrogen receptors and best produce an oestrogen like effect.
. Avoid heavily processed soy products. This includes soy milk, however fermented forms of soy- such as miso, tamari, tempeh are fine in moderation.
. Include good fats: And minimise the bad fats, in order to support hormone production. Good fats and high nutrients are found in unheated olive oils, avocado, hummus, tahini, as well as oily fish (sardines, salmon).

OR NOT😳 I’d actually like to talk about a little thing called PMS. You know, she comes around once a month, super annoying, sometimes shows up uninvited? Yeah well today I woke up as a monster. 👹 Stephania nowhere to be seen. The monster cooked a delicious breakfast and posted it, cleaned up the house, returned some emails....a functional monster. But still, not very fun to be around. I was being negative and irritable, nit picking all morning, and looking back I had no idea I was even doing it. Its almost like a completely different person steps in to take over before Aunt Flo comes to visit 😫 It wasn’t until we got up into the mountains that I started smiling and enjoying my day. I really do feel that nature has such an effect on your mood. 🏔🌱You forget to be upset or angry, or petty. You just breathe and take it all in, becoming thankful for where you are in the moment✨SO anyways yeah by the top of the trailhead I was feeling myself again and lovin life🥰
Since I decided to get off birth control a few months ago, these moods have been becoming more and more intense. This month, I started taking an herb called Black Cohosh daily (only the week before my period), and though today still happened, this month was MUCH better than the last few. A few hours of monster Stephania vs. a few days? I’ll take it. 🤩•
✨✨Most of our PMS symptoms are due to hormonal imbalances. Fukinolic acid, a compound found in Black Cohosh, appears to have estrogen-like activity. It helps provide a balancing act for our out of whack hormones✨✨•
How do you deal with and prepare for your PMS symptoms ? I’d love to hear your experiences and feedback !! 🥰✨
We can choose to to bury ourselves in worry, stress, and untold stories or we can choose to live with openness, love, non judgment, inner peace & obscene awareness of our own goodness. Not everyone will like you, and that is the power. That is the hidden gem. You don’t want everyone to like you. You want YOU to like you. The ones that like you will appreciate the fuck out of your whole self down to the authentic core. Those are your people... It’s actually quite freeing. Sister, don’t get consumed or distracted by things that don’t matter. YOU and your inner peace matters most💛 Feel your mood shift when you ground yourself in yourself🌙
Are you one of those people who’s regular, healthy habits go completely out the window at this time of the year? 😅
Don’t be that person this year. It’s time to ditch the excess vs. deprivation mindset, and maintain a healthy relationship with food- even during the holidays! .
Read our newest blog post from Pamela Groh, R.H.N. for tips to stay on track, and feel your best this holiday season. .

Spent yesterday at Granville Island and found the cutest stamped cutlery. It is a small miracle to say the least that we only went home with a few.
Sweet potato toasts, because I’ll get my sweet potato fix any way I can. Topped these babies with my beloved @spreadem_kitchen carrot chili cashew spread + beet balsamic spread + almond butter + chia + blueberries.
Thinking back on every obstacle you have faced, would you agree that you have grown through each one?
This isn’t easy to remember when we are faced with hardship. We always come out the other side more resilient, more knowledgeable, and better aware of our capabilities.
