Brown rice for dinner? Hell yeah!! Any whole grain will be fine for any time of the day. It depends on the quantity you get satisfied with, not the one you 'should' be eating or the one your stomach will explode. This is called intuitive eating. Knowing if *your body* is satisfied. Not you. 
Every time you eat, think you are feeding a bunch or cells, organs and systems that with the food you are giving them, they should be able make our body work its best way. It depends on genetic, our feeding and our healthy habits and the last you you can give a hand on them and it depends on you.
🌱 This recipe is a butternut squash and roasted pepper sauce which is made this way: roast some onion, butternut squash and garlic in the oven with some olive oil, salt and fresh spicies like thyme and rosemary. Then transfer to a blender with roasted peppers, coconut milk, nutritional yeast, salt and pepper. Blend everything together and transfer to a saucepan to heat and serve. Enjoy!!

Durian, a Malaysian favorite fruit, I would often hear people say how it’s high in sugar, what they don’t know is that durian contains rather balanced amount of carbs / fats / protein, with the fat being mostly monounsaturated fats

People often demonize a certain food group and forget what else we are eating along with the food. I can tell you as much as I love fruits I also love meats and fats so it only makes sense if my ratio is being monitored. If taking out a certain food group (most chooses carbs) helps you stay adherent to your diet, have a go at it. Seeing how people regularly fail to maintain weight long term with elimination diet, I don’t don’t see the sustainability of it

🌿Chia seeds are one of the most nutritious foods on the planet. They’re loaded with fiber, protein, omega-3 fatty acids and various micronutrients.
🌿Chia seeds contains many different phytochemicals, each with unique benefits, including myricetin, quercetin, and kaempferol, which have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer properties.
🌿Chia is a “complete protein” – which means that it contains all nine essential amino acids, which is incredibly rare for a plant-based source of protein.

It has been 2 weeks since I have been back in South Africa.  It has been a whirlwind to say the least 😜🌪 This past weekend we flew up to East London to celebrate the wedding of a friend. It was a beautiful weekend get together filled with friendship,  love and reconnecting with friends I haven't seen in ages! (Some literally 6 years ago!) It just made me realize what is important in life 🧡 The connections, the interactions, the bonds we build with people. That is what nourishes our souls, feeds us off our plates and adds to living healthy, happy lives🦋
Now, back in Cape Town, and settled into Betty's Bay for the next 2 weeks, my heart is happy, and settling in more and more every day. Big moves (across oceans) and decisions pay off, and after this weekend the greatest reward being the connections built and life shared with people who matter💚🌱💜

Here’s a nutrient dense recipe created by Dr. Henry Bieler to heal his patients.  Bieler’s broth contains zucchini and string beans, which are rich sources of organic potassium and sodium which are used by the liver to clean and revitalize the body. -3 stalks of celery -3 whole zucchini -2 cups of string beans -1 cup of (Italian)parsley
1 Tbl. of unsalted butter 
Directions for making the broth
Put 1 cup of water into a stockpot. Put the string beans in first and steam for about 5 minutes. Then put in the celery and zucchini into the pot and steam for another 5 - 7 minutes or until tender, but still crisp. Do not overcook. 
Then put the vegetable water and the cooked vegetables together into the blender. Blend until liquefied. Add a teaspoon of raw unsalted butter and a large handful of parsley. Blend again until parsley is liquefied.

As the body ages the pineal gland begins to calcify and become sluggish. Every person is different but lifestyle and consuming excessive amounts of fluoride are risk factors. Fluoride collects in extremely high amounts in the pineal gland causing faster calcification and decreases melatonin production (this is just one of the reasons I stress replacing tap water with filtered water). Research shows a strong correlation in the development of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, and the calcification of the pineal gland. A poor diet, laden with preservatives, chemicals and pesticides is also a risk factor for calcification and premature aging. Proper sleep is important too.

The hormone oestrogen is a mediator of your fertility. When oestrogen is low- this can make your menstrual cycle erratic, irregular or absent altogether. It is also the result of the infertility condition, PCOS (polycstic ovarian syndrome), as well as menopause. This issue may not just lie within its impact on fertility, but also its impact on lowering bone density...
How do we get low oestrogen?

Our hormones are naturally meant to fluctuate throughout our lifespan. However, factors like low body weight and excessive exercise can bring on early onset oestrogen deficiency. Symptoms can include poor memory, candida (thrush) infections, palpitations, depression, insomnia, vaginal dryness.

How can we boost our oestrogen and increase our fertility?

. Replace high intensity exercise with walking, yoga and gentle strength based exercise. If you are looking to become pregnant soon, participating in high intensity cardio exercise more than twice a week, may compromise your fertility chance, whether it has or hasn’t already impacted your menstrual cycle.
. Aim to gain weight if you are underweight. This is essential and comes first in order for all other tips to work. This can be done through eating nutritious foods frequently. Aim for 3 snacks and 3 meals everyday, emphasising starchy foods such as bananas, sweet potato, pumpkin.
. Boost your oestrogen levels through food. Sesame seeds (especially tahini), legumes and chickpeas are high sources of phytoestrogens, known to bind to oestrogen receptors and best produce an oestrogen like effect.
. Avoid heavily processed soy products. This includes soy milk, however fermented forms of soy- such as miso, tamari, tempeh are fine in moderation.
. Include good fats: And minimise the bad fats, in order to support hormone production. Good fats and high nutrients are found in unheated olive oils, avocado, hummus, tahini, as well as oily fish (sardines, salmon).

OR NOT😳 I’d actually like to talk about a little thing called PMS. You know, she comes around once a month, super annoying, sometimes shows up uninvited? Yeah well today I woke up as a monster. 👹 Stephania nowhere to be seen. The monster cooked a delicious breakfast and posted it, cleaned up the house, returned some emails....a functional monster. But still, not very fun to be around. I was being negative and irritable, nit picking all morning, and looking back I had no idea I was even doing it. Its almost like a completely different person steps in to take over before Aunt Flo comes to visit 😫 It wasn’t until we got up into the mountains that I started smiling and enjoying my day. I really do feel that nature has such an effect on your mood. 🏔🌱You forget to be upset or angry, or petty. You just breathe and take it all in, becoming thankful for where you are in the moment✨SO anyways yeah by the top of the trailhead I was feeling myself again and lovin life🥰

Hey guys! Sorry I’ve been MIA! My birthday being this week kept me out of the kitchen a lot. BUT, I had a lot of fun and am getting back into a normal routine. SWEET & SPiiiCY THAI PEANUT BOWL ✨ GUYSSSS this bowl was literally magic on my tastebuds 👅 Full of protein and healthy fats, this kept me satisfied and curbed my sweet tooth 🤤 Here’s how I made it •

BOWL INGREDIENTS⤵️
2 cups of kale massaged w/ lemon juice 🌱
1 cup red cabbage
1/3 block tempeh (I made mine in a pan, no oil necessary)
1 cup cooked rice noodles 
1/4 cup chickpeas
Avocado slices 🥑
Sesame seeds •

PEANUT SAUCE⤵️
1/8 cup agave or maple syrup
1/8 cup coconut aminos 🥥
1 tbsp unsalted natural peanut butter 🥜
1 tbsp red curry paste
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes 🌶
a little lemon juice 🍋

TÖFU SCRAM 🤩 Wanted something savory for breakfast this morning so obvi tofu scram was calling my name! I love how versatile this is. I kind of consider it a “clean out the refrigerator” kind of meal! You can throw in whatever veggies your heart desires and it is pretty much a fail-proof situation. ✨

ScRaM dEATS: 1/2 block of extra firm tofu crumbled up into “scrambled egg” form + turmeric for color + nutritional yeast + pink salt + orange/red bell pepps + red onion + @traderjoes shredded potatoes + kale massaged in lemon juice + cherry tomatoes + @sietefoods cashew queso + @traderjoes “everything but the bagel” seasoning + hemp seeds! ❤️
