One of the coolest things about being part of a CSA from a local farm is trying new produce you don’t typically find in a grocery store. I had no idea what these were before a few short weeks ago! These are garlic scapes and they’re soooooo tasty!!

They’re kind of like scallions’ garlic cousin. We’ve chopped them up and cooked them with mushrooms and we’ve also grilled them with oil! Is it just me or is anyone else WAYYY harder on themselves than they are everyone else? 🙈 I had a serious heart check about this this morning. I'm totally in a season where I should be giving myself grace- because unseen symptoms like brain fog, extreme fatigue, dizziness, anxiety, tingling are oh-so-real- and yet, if I can't keep up or decide to nap instead of work out, I feel like an absolute failure. Like I'm missing out and the world will pass me by. If I imagined someone else coming to me sharing the same situation, I would be overrun with compassion and understanding and encouragement. Why can't I extend the same to myself? So if you catch yourself saying things to yourself that you would be mortified saying to someone else who looked you in the eye, it's probably time to be more kind and gracious to yourself. We are finite beings. We all need rest and grace and have seasons of strength and seasons of vulnerability. Me included. So I'm going to be much more intentional on this. 💕

In all honesty, I used to really struggle with staying positive. I have been through a lot over the past few years with my health but without realizing it, I was always focusing on how sick I was and not on getting better. I woke up this morning in a baking kind of mood. Not sure exactly why, but I made some @ottos_cassava_flour grain free tortillas and then decided to whip something up for the blueberries that were about to go bad.

Baking for me was my self care today. I’ve always loved baking and I’m pretty sure I enjoy it more than cooking, BUT ever since my PCOS diet transformation I haven’t been doing much baking. I discovered the main reason I avoided baking for this time was because I was limiting myself to believe that all the baked goods need to have 1 cup of maple syrup to make them taste good. And guess what - you really don’t!

I woke up this morning in a baking kind of mood. Not sure exactly why, but I made some @ottos_cassava_flour grain free tortillas and then decided to whip something up for the blueberries that were about to go bad. ⭐️ Baking for me was my self care today. I’ve always loved baking and I’m pretty sure I enjoy it more than cooking, BUT ever since my PCOS diet transformation I haven’t been doing much baking. I discovered the main reason I avoided baking for this time was because I was limiting myself to believe that all the baked goods need to have 1 cup of maple syrup to make them taste good. And guess what - you really don’t! ⭐️ So I’m on a mission to make some kickass tasty recipes where I feel confident that my body won’t go haywire afterwards. PANCAKE INGREDIENTS:
2/3 cup coconut milk 
2 free range eggs
4 tbs #mctoil
2 tbs #maca from #organikahealth 
2 tbs coconut sugar 
1.5 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup sprouted brown rice flour 
Pinch of sea salt *combine all ingredients together and fry in coconut oil*

CINNAMON SUGAR WHIPPED CREAM
The hardened part of 1 can full fat coconut milk
1/2 tbs cinnamon 
2 tbs coconut sugar (or to taste)
Pinch of sea salt *mix together really well and refrigerate until ready to use! Top on pancakes and enjoy!*

When we talk of holistic health, one of the components is environment and within that environment there are lots of things that can contribute to ill health, but maybe none more than toxins. This is such a huge and frankly scary topic that I’ve been unsure how to pair it down into a digestible nugget of knowledge that might empower you to improve your health. So, we’ll start with one toxin for now.

But first, let me put toxin exposure into perspective. 14 years ago, in 2004 the umbilical cord blood of 10 babies born in the US was tested by two national laboratories and what they found was 287 chemicals. Of those 180-cause cancers in humans or animals, 217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system, and 208 of them are known to cause birth defects or abnormal development in animal tests. Sadly, the exposure is only starting as the amount of chemical concentrations found in breast milk is equally alarming and this is when life is just beginning, and organs are not yet mature. Fast forward to your current age, and all toxins you’ve may have been exposed to and are currently exposed to daily. Because the European Chemicals agency estimates there are more than 144,000 man-made chemicals in existence and the US Department of Health estimates 2,000 new chemicals are being released every year and most have never been individually tested for human safety let alone synergistically evaluated. As a result, medical science is increasingly linking issues such as obesity, cancers, heart disease and brain disorders such as autism, ADHD and depression to the growing volume of toxic substances to which humans are exposed daily.

You don’t have to work in a factory that produces these chemicals to be exposed either, they’re in everyday products! Think shampoo, body wash, hand soaps, cleaning products, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, furniture, carpet, plastic food containers, fragranced candles, air fresheners, paint, perfume/cologne, Styrofoam, processed food, straws etc. These all contain chemicals that are carcinogenic, neurotoxic, and/or endocrine disrupting. Pan de avena!! Vamos al grano👇🏻
👉🏻2 tazas harina de avena
👉🏻sal a gusto
👉🏻1 cdta polvos de hornear
👉🏻3 huevos 👐🏻Preparación:
1. Licuar la hojuela de avena para convertirla en harina.
2. En un bowl mezclar la sal (a gusto) , la avena y los polvos de hornear.
3. Hechar los huevos (puedes batirlos un poco antes) y formar una masa .
4. Hacer forma de pan y al horno por 20min a 180grados.

Kestane kabağı hem yazın, hem kışın vazgecilmezim. Evdeki demirbaşlardan...Canım tatlı isteyince imdadıma yetisiyor.  2-3 hafta önce aldığım dolaptaki ayvalar ve golden elmalar baktım halen daha sağlam duruyorlar  hemen degerlendirdim . Yaklasık 600-700 gram kadar kestane kabağını dilimleyip düdüklüye attım.3 adet golden  Elma (ben yazın bulunmadığı icin ,Elmaların kabuklarını soyup dilimleyerek derin dondurucuya atıyorum )ve 3 adet Ayvanın kabuklarını ve çekirdeklerini ayıklayıp dilimledim ve onuda doğru düdüklüye.  Ayva ve  Elma çekirdeklerini jellesmesi icin karışıma ilave ettim. Çok az su ekledim ve düdüklüde pişirdim. içinde kalan cok az  su ile birlikte çatalla gelişi güzel hafifçe  ezdim ve geniş bir tepsiye yaydım. 7-8 adet kabukları soyulmuş, çekirdekleri çıkarılmış hurmayı  azıcık sıcak su ile püre yaptım. Bu aşamada biraz daha tatlı olması için hurma suyuda ekleyebilirsiniz ben eklemedim. Püre haline getirdiğiniz  hurmaları ezilmiş Balkabaklı, karışıma ekleyip karıştırdım.  3-4 yemek kaşığı sultani üzümü tepsiye dagıttım. Bolca sadeyağı yada h cevizi yağıda olur (4-5 yemek kaşığı)findık büyüklügünde kesip tepsiye orantılı olarak bıraktım. En son tarçın serptim . Sonrada 160-170 derecede iyice kızarana kadar( pişirme çok önemli tadını çok değiştiriyor) pişirdim. Fırını kapatmadan iri kıyılmış bolca cevizi ekledim ve  bir kac dakika daha pisirdim. Sonra firını kapatıp kapağı kapalı olarak kendi ısısında cevizler pembelesene kadar bekledim. What a learning and extremely nauseating experience I had eleven years ago! It happened in the summer when I blended a whole Annona Glabra (pond apple) fruit with ice to obtain a cold, delicious and exotic flavor juice . Approximately ten minutes after I drank it, I couldn’t stop vomiting and it dehydrated my body very quickly. I luckily recuperated in two days and went to investigate what I have done wrong. I found out that I was poisoned by the Annona seeds that I have not separated to prepare that juice. Annonas are one of the family plants that sit on the cusp of edible/non-edible. Its pulp is delicious, however do NOT eat the seeds. Also keep your fingers away from your eyes after handling the seeds. Wash your hands first. Yes, I have learned my lesson. ;) This picture is one of the various trees I have on my backyard. Why then am I still caring for them? Because I also discovered its healing properties. It is used in traditional medicine against several human ailments, including cancer. Successful tests for Leukemia by anticancer research from the department of pathology in Miami Children’s hospital treatment proved that the seed extract was more potent than leaf and pulp extract. I do honor Annona glabra seeds and respect its powerful function very much so! (#sattvico ) y así poder alcanzar la realización. (#samadhi  )• • - Pero, en la medicina Ayurveda, si recomiendan tomar café para balancear tus doshas. Es decir, si te sientes muy cansado ( exceso de #kapha ) puedes tomar una taza (negro y sin azúcar), pero si tienes exceso de #vatta  no es tan recomendable, aun así, si quieres lo puedes tomar con endulzante y alguna leche, con #pitta  evita la leche. • - Lo mejor en Ayurveda para tomar café es de 6am a 10am y no más de 2 tazas, después de tomar un vaso de agua caliente y tú desayuno para estimular tu #agni  (fuego interno/digestivo. 🔥 ) y tu mente. 🧠 • • - Mi opinión, tómalo si quieres, pero nunca consumas algo en exceso. Cuando algo que te guste se incline a “exceso” déjalo por algún tiempo y después vuelve si quieres. ✓Banana em fatias 1 unidade
✓Damasco seco em fatias 4 unidades ✓Uva passa 2 colheres (hidrate em água antes de usar) ✓Ameixa Seca sem caroço 4 unidades
✓Canela em pó 1 colher chá ✓Cravo em pó 1 colher café ✓Cardamomo em pó 1 colher café (opcional)
✓Gengibre em pó 1 colher chá
Em uma tigela misture todos esses ingredientes. Reserve.

Para Massa:
✓Farinha de Arroz 1 1/2 xícara
✓Farinha de Coco 1/2 xícara ✓Açúcar demerara (ou stévia, ou de coco) 1/2 xícara
✓Óleo de Girassol 1/2 xícara ✓Fermento em pó 1 colher sopa ✓Goma xantana 1 colher chá
✓Agua Mineral 1 xícara 
Em uma tigela misture todos os ingredientes da massa, até ficar uma massa lisa e homogênea. Misture a goma xantana por último.

Finalize: 
Adicionar as frutas na massa, misturar e adicionar em forma untada com óleo e farinha de arroz com canela em pó. Assar por 30 min a 200ºC.
