This was a unique space/place to dine at during my visit. Lol I didn't know this kitchen was nestled in a former Elementary school built in 1916. What a interesting experience! You're responsible for bussing your table and putting the used dishes in the appropriate bins, ect. I kept thinking, this concept of dining would definitely not work well in TX/S.A. I reccomend this place, I had a turkey sammich with the best fire roasted tomatoes EVER. Hooray! ☺🍅😅☺🍅🥪 #food#dining#colorado#sammich#sandwhich#uniquedining#historicschool

The FORMER LINCOLN SCHOOL in Jackson, Cape Girardeau County was built for the education of African Americans in the area during segregation. This is actually the second school to stand in this spot, and acted as a segregated school from 1947-1953. The district then converted it into administrative offices. Currently the building sits vacant, and after the demolition of the former Jackson HS last year, there are concerns for the safety of this historic building. #2018placesinperil#missourihistory#blackhistory#thisplacematters#historicschool
I never really expect to have “fun” per se, on school field trips, but today I did. I really, really did! I love history, and we first went to a museum showing 12,000 years of Native American occupation with over 1,000 artifacts dating all the way back to prehistoric times. So cool. Then, we walked over to a school house that’s 106 years old with a working bell tower. It’s hard to believe what was condoned back in those days. The dunce cap and chair. Oh my word 💔😭 Kids would also walk 4 miles to and then 4 miles back from school each day through forests and waters with alligators and snakes. 😱 #myhowtimeshavechanged
The first task of the Ross School was ‘lifting up’ the children of convicts and offering them opportunities unknown to their parents.
In the story of Ross brothers, Enoch and Frederick Eley, this goal was achieved.
This video shows the pages of a book won by Frederick Eley in 1884. What a treasure! .

Also known as the Halfway School, the Erin-Warren Fractional District No. 2 schoolhouse is one of the most typical single room schoolhouses around. Built in 1872, it was in use as a school until 1921. After being moved and repurposed for a time, it was brought back to within about a hundred feet of its original location. It has been restored and is virtually unaltered from its time as a schoolhouse. The name Halfway comes from its location at the midpoint between Detroit and Mt. Clemens.
📝 NEW BLOG POST: “The Forgotten Legacy of Sgt. Alvin C. York’s Home Front Efforts After World War I” by CHP Graduate Research Assistant Harris Abernathy
The floorboards of the York Bible School squeaked under our feet as we stepped into the hallway of this once lively institution. Erected from private donations and proceeds from the patriotic film Sargent York (1941), the school was constructed by World War I legend Alvin C. York near the banks of the Wolf River in Pall Mall, not far from the York Institute, another of the philanthropist’s charitable endeavors...
