For those who have been to hammams before. There are changing rooms for men and women, this is one of them at Hammam Inal in Cairo.

One of the few well restored examples of Cairo's once vibrant hammam (bathhouse) culture, the Hammam Inal dates from 1456. The marble-clad central room is topped by a traditional domed ceiling studded with tiny coloured glass windows that allow in shafts of light.

This ahwa (ahwa is the Arabic for coffee and coffeehouses alike) has been an establishment in Khan el-Khalili (bazaar) since 1773. A tiled room with a drinks counter, a brasier of hot coals for the shisha pipes and, lining the walls and the pavement outside, tables of battered tin or wood are components of typical ahwa!! #ElFishawi #ElFishwy #Ahwa

It was the first time I have heard the word, Copts or Coptic Cairo. "The Copts are an ethnoreligious group indigenous to North Africa who primarily inhabit the area of modern Egypt, where they are the largest Christian denomination in the country. Copts are also the largest Christian adherent group in Sudan and Libya. Historically, they spoke the Coptic language, a direct descendant of the Demotic Egyptian that was spoken in late antiquity." Wikipedia
The first time was when I visited St. Mina Monastery in Alexandria. In Cairo, there is a Coptic Area or Copic Cairo, both Alexandria and Cairo, there are heavy guards (my guess is there might be some violence between Christians and Muslims). Today, visited 5 different churches and a museum in this serene Copic Cairo!

Yesterday used Uber except 2 times used taxi, the first two times are easy, the cars found me, and I realized that car license plates here have Arabic numbers, not Roman ones. I have to learn those 10 digits fast.
This morning got an Uber with he plate number 9554.

This atrium when one walks in is splendid with 2 statues standing guard, of King Amenhotep III and Queen Tiye!! He is also known as Nebma’atre, Amenophis III, Amunhotep II, and Amana-Hatpa. He was the son of the pharaoh Tuthmosis IV and his lesser wife Mutemwiya, husband of Queen Tiye, father of Akhenaten, and grandfather of Tutankhamun and Ankhsenamun. His greatest contribution to Egyptian culture was in maintaining peace and prosperity, which enabled him to devote his time to the arts. Many of the most impressive structures of ancient Egypt were built under his reign and, through military campaigns, he not only strengthened the borders of his land but expanded them. He ruled Egypt with Tiye for 38 years until his death and was succeeded by Amenhotep IV, later known as Akhenaten.

Tutankhaman, grandson of King Amenhotep III and Queen Tiye, ruled for only 9 years during the 14th century BC.
The Mask of Tutankhamun was discovered by Howard Carter in 1925 and is one of the most well known works of art in the world.

So I left my other luggage at Cairo Marriott at 6:30AM, I had planned to take an express train to Alexandria at 8AM, once at Ramses Station, no more tickets at 8AM, the only opening ticket is at 2PM.

What to do? What to do?

Ramses Train Station doesn’t have luggage storage!! What to do? What to do?

Took a chance!! One of the few things one must do in Egypt is to go to Egyptian Museum!! 2 problems: 1) Does the museum offer storage? 2) Will 4-4.5 hours be sufficient?

Well, if the museum does not have a place for storage, then I walked around Cairo with my carryon!! The museum turned out that it has a big room to store all sorts of things including luggage, and with no cost!! #Cairo #HistoricCairo #EgyptianMuseum
