Circa 1805 / 2018
Thought I’d edit two different versions of this photo of me in Boston because of the amazing history behind the area. Beacon Hill was one of the staunchest centers of the anti-slavery movement in the Antebellum era. Joy St., formally Belknap St., was home to more than 1k Blacks beginning in the mid-1700s. Not too far from this apartment was was the African Meeting House, a community center for black abolitionists such as Fredrick Douglas and William Lloyd Garrison. Not to mention it was an important depot on the Underground Railroad!
