On a more serious note my cholesterol has gone up from the higher fat diet and I'm excited to try out @optibac probiotics to see if it helps! As you all know I'm all about the importance of gut health for hormonal health and anything that balances cholesterol will also help clear excess cholesterol based hormones from the gut (oestrogen is cholesterol based). Excess oestrogen in the gut can be recycled if our bacteria don't bind it up to ensure safe elimination... if recycled excess oestrogen can contribute to oestegen dominance, which the most common cause of hormonal issues... PMS, fibroids, lumpy breasts, hormonal weight gain and even thyroid issues!! ⭐ Healthy gut = healthy hormones!! ⭐
I've been really busy lately, forgive me but today my good friend @devilwearspaula and I had a keto BBQ!! I slow cooked ribs that fell right off the bone and made my own special sauce for our burgers.
Recipe for "special sauce" guaranteed to remind you of Big Mac sauce:
These are rough measurements, I really just eyeball it.
Two heaping tablespoons of Mayo
1/2 tablespoon of mustard
1/2 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon pickle juice
Then I add about two teaspoons of very finely chopped onion as well as pickle.
3 or 4 dashes of hot sauce (@cholulahotsauce works best)
Salt and pepper to taste

I haven't been Keto for the past 3 weeks. So, I haven't felt like posting much. Seems sorta wrong when this account is all about that. These few weeks have just been a struggle mentally. It's strange because I still eat Keto meals for my main meals but it's the snacks that are killing it.
Being off Keto completely is interesting because my skin has completely broken out which was one thing that I noticed clearing up.
My oven is STILL out of action 😫 New one was delivered yesterday but I have to wait until tomorrow to use it. Hoping it'll all go smoothly because I'll be pretty unhappy if something delays it even more.
Anyway, I will come back to Keto. I miss it tbh. Once I clear my mind and after this week is over things should hopefully be better. After last Friday's car accident I just felt like crap. Plus some other things which I won't detail here but these things have really helped screw things up this month WHICH has put everything off kilter for me. Okay, enough whining. I'm off to slay some aliens 👽
I will always be that girl who needs a life balance. I believe in the 90/10 rule. Nutrition on point 90% of the time. Wine is the 10% and since we are on vacation, I’m going to allow a few indulgences, knowing I’m going to get right back at it when I get home.
I’m not going to totally let it go while we’re here - cause that would just be dumb. I don’t want to undo all the progress I’ve made and more importantly, I don’t feel great when I eat certain foods. I want to feel great on vacation, have all the energy and not feel bloated and blah.
It’s not always easy to find that balance but I strive for it. Even on vacation!

Got my back and bis worked out tonight!! 🙌 I’ll tell you ... I was EXHAUSTED after work today. Mentally spent. But I couldn’t let myself, or my team, down. Now I have a ton of energy and feel so good that I did it!! Do you know why most people quit the gym? Or stop working out after they start? ACCOUNTABILITY! That’s what I love about my group trainings and my relationships I create with my teams. I know I need to show up every day and we do it together!

Protein is essential in preventing sarcopenia (loss of muscle) - especially as we age. 🥩
My keto now focuses on protein rather than fat like it did when I first started. Eating plenty of fat to become fat adapted and Ketogenic is important in the beginning, but now I’m focusing on maintaining and also building lean muscle mass. I do this through consistently challenging myself in the gym - muscles need resistance to grow. But they also need adequate fuel and building blocks. Glycogen is made freely by my liver through GNG and I have no need to consume any carbohydrates in order to progress and succeed.
I choose fatty meats or add (mainly) animal based oils where necessary to keep my ratio of fat high enough to give me satiety and energy throughout the day. 🥩
No, I am not 100% 0 carb /Carnivore and don’t claim to be. But that’s because I don’t need to be for any major health concerns and don’t need to be put in a box and feel stuck there. 🥩
PS I’ve barely worked out over the last two weeks and I still perform and recover and look as if I have. 💁🏼♀️
