Rasa.. Before we move on from taste I would be remiss if I didn't talk about Rasa and what it means in Ayurveda. My intention was to just touch on the concept of Rasa but with only a few sentences in I already can tell this will be a 2 or 3 part post..it's that important and I've already given you a bit of Ayurvedic background so let's dive a little deeper into taste by exploring what the ancient yogis had to say about taste or Rasa.. We can start by looking at the word Rasa itself..being multilingual I understand that a lot of times words don't have a literal direct translation from one language to another..often times we will use a close approximation to the word we are trying to translate. This is clearly evident in the case of the word Rasa..which is usually translated as meaning "taste" and yes it does mean that..but in Sanskrit the word has a much deeper meaning as it also conveys experience, enthusiasm, juice, plasma and more importantly essence.
Rasa is, in a very real way, the essence of life and quite literally affects every aspect of our being—from structure and physiology, straight through to our overall state of mind and consciousness.(it isn't the Sanskrit version of Chi that would be Prana) Ayurveda sees rasa, or taste, as a tremendously powerful therapeutic tool that determines not only how we experience our food, but ultimately, the overall flavor of our existence. Taste is assigned a much deeper significance in Ayurveda than we are accustomed to in the West; it is considered critically important in determining the effect that various foods, spices, therapeutic herbs, and experiences will have on our state of balance—body, mind, and spirit. If you recall I spent a lot of time on the concept of the 5 elements because just like the 3 Dosha's Rasa is also made up of the 5 elements. Each taste is a combination of 2 elements (see image 2 how each taste is generally broken down.) From these elementary beginnings, the experience of taste initiates a complex cascade of influences that touches every aspect of the mind-body organism. We'll start exploring them tomorrow..

I found this pic of me from 4 years ago lol I was deep in my yoga journey and just beginning my herbal journey. I think sometimes we forget how great returning to the basics can be. I think now is a good time to start over and go back to this moment. Experience uncertainty and the newness of each moment. Remember what it was all about.
As Herbalists, we realized something important in our training: ☝🏽 herbs can be exceptional agents in restoring balance to the body, but if one’s diet and lifestyle are not nourishing, then no herbal protocol will work 🙅🏽♀️ That’s why we took on the role of Nutritional Therapists 🍳💃🏻🥦- so we could educate ourselves, using a holistic (mind-body-spirit) and ancestral approach to nourishing the magnificent & complex human body 💪🏽 .
We have found that these 2 healing arts go hand-in-hand: herbalism appreciates the uniqueness of each herb, person, and situation, striving to bring balance to the body by selecting appropriate herbs for each scenario . 🤔💁🏽♀️🌿 Nutritional Therapy excels because it respects the bioindividuality of everyone: a diet and lifestyle that nourishes you might stress out another person.
At our retreat today, we brainstormed more ways to bring this realization to you. We have mapped out a solid spring filled with workshops, cooking classes, and new product launches 🚀- all with the end goal of elevating the art of herbalism with foundational foods. 🌶🥥👩🏻🌾👩🏽🍳🍵🍍 Is there is a class/workshop/product you would like to see, don’t hesitate to DM us your ideas- we are here to serve YOU!
Positive emotions have been linked with better health, longer life, and greater well-being in numerous scientific studies. On the other hand, chronic anger, worry, and hostility increase the risk of developing heart disease, as people react to these feelings with raised blood pressure and stiffening of blood vessels. Take a moment to think of the positives in your life ✨

Collect up dandelion wishes to use in your spells. When you’re sad simply take out a wish and blow it to be carried away. You could use a simple spell like this; Dandelion wishes grant for me, All that I wish for, so mote it be!
I feel like we don't share enough 'not as exciting'/low/mundane/ordinary moments. I know it's great to be spreading positive/encouraging/inspiring energy, but it's not realistic to be doing it 24/7. 🍃
I admit I do it too. I'd like for people to see the content on this feed and for it to make people good about themselves, rather than spark comparison/jealousy/rage/hate. 🍃
So here it is:
A not so exciting moment...
My lips are currently swollen and they feel super uncomfortable. I'm still trying to figure why it happens, but sometimes my lips get extremely dry. They'll feel tight, dry and eeky. It's not even just chapped lips- it's more of a reaction to something. 🍃
But when this happens I feel insecure and find it difficult to smile or laugh because it feels like it will rip my lips open. And it's moments like these I realise how important laughter and joy is in our lives. 🍃
I'm attempting to use natural remedies; soaking in warm sea salt water, applying aloe vera gel directly from the plant, using an infusion (bought) of calendula, not licking my lips, putting sunscreen on when I'm outside- but it's such a slow healing process I'm struggling to not be so affected by it. I know it will heal, but impatience is definitely present also. 🍃
Sending love and patience to those going through a rough patch. You're okay. I believe in you #socialmediatransparency#socialchange#holisticliving#naturalremedies#naturalliving#nature#selfdevelopment#natural#nature#herbalism#selflove#innerpeace#kindness#peace#love

あと、アクリルたわし( ＾∀＾) You can make eco friendly dish washer from rosemary extract and Castile soap! If you have rosemary in your garden you should use the herb for various things because rosemary has antibacterial effect and also kind for your skin than artificial sanitizer.
Sesuki Tansan soda is popular and safe cleaning powder in Japan but I can’t find some products here. So I teach you how to make Sesuki powder by yourself. All you need is baking soda and washing soda(ARM&HAMMER). You can also make washing soda from baking Soda just by heating them if you can’t find washing soda nearby your home. You just need to mix same ratio of baking soda and washing soda to make Sesuki powder. Then you can put one tea spoon of Sesuki powder into 8 oz water to make magic water. You can remove oil, dirts, food stains, grease etc easily just by this water. This Sesuki water is safe and eco friendly, so you can clean up house by using this magic water if you have a pet or small kids. Many house cleaning liquid includes toxic chemicals for small animals and kids, so Japanese wife prefer to clean house by Sesuki and also vinegar. It’s very good and I can recommend(*^ω^*) 🌿🐱🌿☘️🍀🌿☘️🍀🌿🍀🌿☘️🍀🌿☘️🍀🐾#ecofriendlyliving#rosemary#zerowastehome#zerowastelife#reduceplasticwaste#reduceplastic#biodegradableproducts#toxicfree#madebymyself#herbalife 💚#positivevibration#ベニシアさん#エコ#自家製#セスキ炭酸ソーダ#環境に優しい#stoppollution#ecofriendlycleaning#homemadesoap#japaneseculture#japaneseproducts#ハーブのある暮らし#herbalism#herbalife 💚#クエン酸#environmentalprotection
