The best part of cooking, licking the chocolate icing bowl for a cake that we made 🎂 This is a healthier icing, made from avocado blended with raw cacao, a little maple syrup and a dash of vanilla extract. I admit before I tried it I thought it sounded a bit questionable, because avocado in icing??? But it honestly doesn’t taste avocado-y at all, it just gives it a really nice creamy base instead of using butter. We covered our cake in it but you can also just eat it directly as a delicious chocolate mousse. This magical recipe is on chocolatecoveredkatie.com 🥑💜
Aislinn just keeps getting bigger before my eyes. She’s big enough to have her own signature expression. She’s big enough to have a favorite pair of shoes. She’s big enough to recognize her own reflection and like having her picture taken. She’s big enough to be entertained and engaged by television (yeah, that’s probably not a good one haha). And she’s even big enough to help me make mix the pancake batter. I love making memories with this girl! ❤️#aislinnavery#17monthsold#allthingsglitter#helpinginthekitchen
Working together to get supper into the slow cooker this morning - always feels like a win when we manage this! M in an excellent mixer and wonderful putter inner - spoonfuls of mustard, shakes of basil, chopped veg - you name it! She also loves to practice her knife skills and enjoy delicious snacks as we go (today, lots of raw carrot and apple). We even managed counting carrots for #mathsonmondays .
I love these quiet moments with M while E snoozes, working as a team to create something we’ll enjoy later as a family. It’s a time for great conversation, too, and now our delicious supper is cooking away while we head to the park 😃 #winning
Rice on the floor, pancake making, flour clouds above the kitchen counter - a typical Sunday afternoon.
After being surrounded by my best friends yesterday, I realised I could not be happier with where I am in my life. Despite all the scary changes, all the sleepless nights, I am extremely grateful for what I have!
On Saturday, us, adults were sipping G&Ts whilst 4 cute kids filled the house with laughter, small fights and biscuit crumbles! I will never forget the moment when I was sitting on the sofa, looked around the room and saw my best friends and their families there, saw all the joy and straight away remembered good old family times. We used to have great weekend afternoons. Me, my sisters, our neighbours and cousins were outside playing till the sun went down (well, till our Mums shouted to get inside). I never felt so close to my childhood as I did yesterday in that moment. My eyes teared up and it was a great realisation that finally my dream has come true. Since I knew my family would never be around, I always dreamt of living close to friends, being able to knock on their doors and make myself a coffee. I cannot believe that it is now the reality and my best friends are so close and we will be living the life we wanted. And most of all, our kids can have what I never thought I’d be able to provide them with here. The sense of belonging to a big cirlce that they can count on. We made it guys, we are building something here!
Discussing the dinner that they then went on to NOT eat 😑
Well Ben ate everything but the aubergine and Sean just ate the noodles 🙄
They also went through the book pointing out what they liked the look off. I have a feeling that they wouldn’t eat it if I actually gave it to them.
Well Ben probably would give it a go, he’s pretty good for trying stuff now 😅
Said he could have a pick next time I’m making a meal plan which put a smile on his face.
Boys both got their back to school haircuts and I got all their uniform ordered. @marksandspencer have free nominated day delivery for school clothes. Which was just as well since their standard delivery wouldn’t be here on time 🙈 left it a little late.
I also still need to get Sean a bag. I thought I’d managed to persuade him away from a PJ Masks bag for an emergency vehicles one, which he came back to change his mind to a construction vehicles one. And then he came back again and said he wanted PJ Masks but couldn’t decide which 😩
He has bags but he’ll probably get a PJ Masks. I’m just being a bit of a snob 😂 the other ones are just so much prettier.
Think it just reflects the direction my parenting has gone and how much I didn’t want it to go this way 😂
