"The foolish man thinks he will live forever if he keeps away from fighting; but old age won’t grant him a truce, even if the spears do." Havamal, 16. (From today's photo shoot in St Paul Woods. Thank you to my wife for accompanying me in case someone decided to call the police about the crazy looking man with the axe.)

Can you guys help me? I'm trying to remember the name of I think a Saxon king? Who was about to convert to Christianity but changed his mind when finding out he would not be sharing the afterlife with his people? Google isn't spitting anything useful out with the keywords I'm trying... #heathen#heathenism#heathenry#anglosaxon#fyrnsidu#asheathenry
About 5 or so months ago I started a batch (my very first) of #mead . I lovingly included Tulsi & Blueberry, thinking of putting a bit of Summer into the mix. And then in waited. And waited. Annnnnnnd waited. Today, we bottled it & I decided to try a sip. It was not cute. Not at all. 😱🤢😖 Instantly I felt like a failure. How? How had my hard work and intention produced this pink gasoline??? But then I thought, hold up. Firstly, in still needs to age. It needs time to become. And secondly, even if it doesn't get better with age, who cares? I did the thing! I tried. I learned. 🤣🏆👏 Basically every real life lesson I've learned had been the result of gigantic failures, so maybe that's just my process.
I feel like maybe I'm overthinking the whole thing, or projecting, or something. But there's a lesson or some wisdom in here somewhere. °
Adding to my reading list. I just finished Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari. .
Ever read, listen or come across something that relates or somewhat helps you process something you’re dealing or struggling with? Is it odd coincidence or do we make it seem like that in hopes in finding a way out? You attract what you think. “You’re just weird duke”. I consider myself logical in many ways. But I ask you this, or are you just too proud and want push aside what could possibly be universe trying to balance it self within yourself. We see it all to often in nature. Chemistry has proven time and time again that it’s seeks out balance. Human bodies are always wanting homeostasis. We just think of ourselves above it all, and disregard it as “omen”, “luck”, and “something else”. Are we really that out of touch and simply think the universe revolves only around our senses? That we throw out everything else out the door as impossible or “fake news”. Our smell is limited, turkey vultures smell things miles away, sharks can smell blood under water past all the salinity of it, while we can’t seem to smell the shit we step on sometimes. Hearing? Bats can “see” based on hearing off sound waves, while whales communicate under water miles apart as our hearing day by day deteriorates by the blaring music off your fancy iPhone (I do that🙋♂️). Our touch is very limited when there are animals out there that can feel the shift of the tides, magnetic fields and vibrations of helicopters miles away disrupting their stasis. Our sight is by far the most blind of them all. We pride ourselves in seeing 3D and colored, what a joke, we only see a fraction of the actual spectrum. Colors we “see” aren’t really the color of the objects. It’s actually the color the object is rejecting and not it’s actual color. Yet we think we know it all and so above it all, because of our advances, although astonishing, we’ve barely made a scratch in the possibilities of the unknown. Don’t let the blinders keep you from seeing other truths, or seeking other ways to solve problems that plague us everyday. Cast aside your ego, do better and become better. You’ll end up living a happier life.
