As a young woman, I so wanted to feel my most beautiful and confident on my wedding day as I walked down the aisle towards my prince (and he is such a prince 🙈❤️🙌🏼). Well... I love looking back on that day, the photos, and remembering how beautiful I felt! ••• I chose to switch up my lifestyle about a year before Prezzy and I started dating. I lost 30 pounds on my nutrition plan (which landed me a gorgeous stud, that and my great personality 🤣) and gained lean muscle. ••• There was never a moment where I wanted to revert back to old ways because feeling confident in my own skin was a game changer! My friend just sent me this!! Definitely see a difference between days 2 + 4!! 11 more days of water fasting to go!! Whoop!! I walked for about an hour and a half today. 30 minutes in the morning and an hour this evening. The hunger pains are all but gone and I’m not craving anything. I feel like it’s going to be pretty smooth sailing from here on out!

Our #kidneys are under duress, our urinary tract, our #bladder, our #adrenals, our #sex glands, our #stress response system are all tryin' to purge (cleanse) that which ain't working!  If we are on board, taking care of our physical #health, spiritually #aligned, & emotionally showing up to ourSelves & the #relationships around us, then all is well. If we are not, there is a backup in one or more of these systems.

There's a double whammy right now as much of these physical manifestations are coming from the #energy presenting with the astrological aspects of Mars' & Venus's interaction. Venus is also in charge of our relationships & so as many of us have noticed, some of the more painful relationships in our lives have come to the forefront. We are hurting. Here again, if we are dealing w/ this, we are okay. If we are not, or if we are not allowing #love in our lives from those around us, we're probably presenting w/ some pulmonary issues, circulatory issues, and problems with our #HeartHealth.

The American Heart Association recommends: ▶️150 minutes of moderate exercise a week. That's 30 minutes a day for 5 days. ▶️Or at least 75 minutes per week of vigorous exercise. 
It's just a general recommendation. Make sure you elevate your heart rate and possibly break out into a light sweat. 
You can use the talk test. If you're doing moderate-intensity activity you can talk, but not sing, during the activity. If you're doing vigorous-intensity activity, you won't be able to say more than a few words without pausing for a breath.

A new favorite recipe of mine that tastes like a tropical dessert🥥🍫but filled with all the vitamins and nutrients that I cannot get with my every day meals. This is my snack or my breakfast depending on the day😍

And yes it has protein but it is so much more than a “protein” shake. The vampire struck! No, actually, today it was time for bloodwork before my regularly scheduled physical. I really, really hate needles, so this is not my favorite activity.

I wanted to share this because exercise and eating right are critical for achieving a fit, strong and healthy body, but in order to maintain it, part of your fitness plan should include regular physicals and appropriate screening tests (regular bloodwork, colonoscopy, mammogram, bone density tests, etc). Some of these may not be pleasant, but they are so important in order to identify health issues early while they are much easier to treat or fix.

I’m a perfect example of this. *

Last November, I was lifting weights 3 times a week, doing mud runs and obstacle courses and felt great . . . the “picture of health” as they say. Little did I know that I had a ticking time bomb inside of me, which a random scan happened to pick up. I had a weakness in my aorta (the main artery to the heart) that would likely have blown within a couple of weeks -- usually a life-ending event.

Dec. 8th, when the call from the doctor came with the scan results I was on my way to the gym to work out and here he was, calling me to come in to the emergency room for open-heart surgery! If I had not been following up on recommendations from a routine health exam, I’d be dead right now.

Remember, you can’t always tell what’s physically happening on the inside by how your body looks on the outside! Sometimes there are signs or symptoms that will clue you in to a problem, but there are also “silent” health issues that you won’t find until it’s too late. Don’t put off your regular health exams, it truly could be a matter of life or death!!

You might be aware that diabetes and chronic kidney disease tend hold hands. Often folks with diabetes have chronic kidney disease, so you have this two-hit effect whereby you don’t move potassium into your cells very well nor do you excrete optimally

And so you’re more likely to suffer complication

Knowing this, it sensible for health professionals to have reservations about extra potassium intake, because a large fraction of the population suffers some degree of insulin resistance and renal failure

If you’re healthy, you’ll likely regulate it well. That’s a lot of potassium!

Smiling for my echo!
Today I had 2 appointments, one with my GP and then I went for my echocardiogram. If you are unfamiliar with it, it’s an ultrasound of your heart. It was really cool to see my own heart. Those results are going to be sent to my cardiologist (who from my first impression of her, I don’t like). As for my gastritis, no improvement in this flare up. :( so my doctor put me on a new medication and if it doesn’t work then he’s gonna send me to a gastroenterologist. 
Something I have learned throughout this journey is that you can’t set the bar too high for yourself. If you are setting goals for yourself that are too hard to achieve, it will just make you feel like a failure and down on yourself. You have to celebrate the small things because that’s what keep the joy and happiness in your life. 
Some days, your biggest achievement is getting dressed, getting out of the house, showering, or even getting out of bed. And you have to celebrate that and realize that you are doing the best you can. Your best is good enough! 
And as small and silly as it may be, I am a strong believer in #CelebratingTheSmallThings 
Because the small things, might be big things to us.

This morning whilst at a circuit class I was asked why I was taking options. I replied jokingly saying having my two girls had messed me about a bit. Her instant reply was ‘did you have caesareans’. No I didn’t. I’ve had two vaginal deliveries, but both pregnancies and the births have affected me differently, along with some silly choices which have left me where I am today. On a journey with lots of other postnatal mums helping their bodies be the best they can be. Post birth weakness, complications and pelvic health can happen to us all, not just to a certain type of birth. Talking of which, was the last time you worked your pelvic floor?

Love the flavor from an Asian takeout meal but I hate the calories and sodium that comes along with it. Which is why I prefer to make it at home. This veggie stir fry is made with broccoli and eggplant as the base topped with crispy coconut (brown) rice (I repurposed the stems from the broccoli in the rice for some added texture and nutrients.)
