With our ever busy schedules and lifestyles, keeping the mind, body and spirit healthy is a very huge challenge. I have been quite stressed these past few weeks but I kept pushing to balance taking care of my daughters and attending to the demands of my customers. However, when I checked my BP on Friday, I knew I had to treat myself to a relaxing break and I'm glad to say, I feel so much better. Stress is a Mess and over time, stress can lead to serious health issues such as obesity, depression and even death. So I thought to share some wellness tips I read up and practised over the holidays:

Get Physical – Exercise not only helps you build muscle, lose weight and gain self-confidence, but helps in maintaining a healthy heart. You don't need to spend hours at the gym to achieve this. From strength training and cardio workouts, to morning/evening walks - anything that gets your heart pumping will benefit your health. 
Eat Healthy – Increase your intake of fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants to fight stress hormones.

Laugh out Loud – Health-increasing hormones like endorphins are released into your body when you laugh. Additionally, laughter works your abdominal muscles.

Get Plenty of Sleep – Between work, family and extra activities, it’s sometimes difficult to get the necessary 6 to 8 hours of sleep. Be sure to avoid caffeine and exercise before bedtime. Instead, try reading a book. 
Regular check-ups – Going to the doctor only when you’re sick isn’t ok. For both your physical and mental well-being, it’s wise to have a routine annual physical examination. 
Make time for recreation and don't forget to breathe. Inhaling a deeply for 5 seconds then exhaling for another 5 seconds can help clear your mind and enhance blood circulation.

It's always a good thing to pay attention to the signs our body sends out to us when something is wrong.

Here is a testimony of Jay Figueroa and what has been helping him control his fight with diabetes.

If you know me personally, I've been addicted to cold sweet drinks ranging from soda, ICEE, slurpys, smoothies, shakes and etc. I've always had the mentality "If I work out a lot I can eat and drink whatever I want." Oh boy was I wrong!

Since this past January of 2018 I did not go to the gym or run as much as I usually do. Instead I started drinking soda again after years of not drinking it. I did not realize that all of the fatigue, head aches, blurred vision in the morning etc. was symptoms of diabetes.

Luckily, our company 5LINX just launched a product called "Captavida", which helps normalize blood sugar levels and supports healthy weight management. I wanted to try it just so I can have my own experience using it.

I will be turning 35 years old in June. With that said, I have never taken my own glucose reading in my life. Unfortunately, diabetes runs in our family. As tough as I may seem or may be, I was also scared to prick my finger for blood LOL.

10 days ago I tested my glucose before I took my first drink of Captavida. My glucose was at 237! I told my mom and I got an earful of "I told you so!" Long story short and maybe I'll have a video coming up soon about my testimony in details, but days later after an instant lifestyle change... my glucose reading as of May 22nd is now at 119!

I was not aware of how the points system works before, but lets just say pre-diabetic numbers should be around 125, normal non-diabetic numbers are 70-110 when you wake up and test.
I personally made an appointment with the doctor to see where I stand. But I made a decision right away the second I saw the 237 that I needed to change instantly without telling me what I have or don't.
