Part of my routine that I’m loving is the active recovery rest days. Some days I do nothing but stretch and give my body a break. Other days I go on a hike, do some yoga, or tryout other programs or fitness classes that I’ve been meaning to get to.⠀

I love the flexibility of moving my workout days around and having these active recovery days when life gets busy so I can breathe without neglecting my health.⠀

I am doing a new thing- 
I am going to a expo. .
But this time, it’s NOT as an “attendee” --
It’s as a vendor. .
On January 5th/6th, I will be at the Health and Fitness Expo at the Spokane County Fairgrounds (as a VENDOR) showcasing STRONG by Zumba. .
I feel like I have a lot to do to prepare for this- and since I’ve never been a vendor before, I was so grateful when @spokanehealthfitexpo gave me this advice yesterday- “go look at one that is being held RIGHT now, and see what the space is like.”
GENIUS! 
So, I jumped in the car and gladly did NOT look out of place at the SENIOR EXPO. 😂

I creeepily took SO many pictures of every booth I passed- trying to figure out what stood out/what didn’t. 
What was appealing, how did the set up become “inviting” and also what drew me to visit a booth- (SPOILER ALERT: the answer was CANDY!) hahaha
.
So, here’s where you all come in-
ANY advice you can give me from either going to these things, or being a vendor at one would be UBER (<-not a sponsor ahaha) HELPFUL. .
You all ROCK and I’m super excited/nervous for this. I’ll also be teaching a class on the main stage, which I’m already SUPER pumped for!

Does anyone else find that the thing they need to focus on when trying to lose weight/tone up is nutrition and what they eat?! I do 🙋🏻‍♀️, one of the ways I have found round this is to eat a larger filling meal at lunch and porridge in the morning as this fills me up and then a lighter dinner. I have also found healthier snacks that I can have after dinner as something sweet as I need to have that something sweet after dinner. -

It’s been about 5 years since we lived in a place that had a proper winter, so it got me thinking of all the things I need to do to prepare- such as--start packing “emergency snow kit” for the car and to get some extra flares--just in case. “can never be too prepared” ←-says some random mom waggin’ her finger at me in my head
I also wanted to give a shout out to my friend over @lydihooks for takin’ the leap and starting to sell these beautiful yarn ‘twisted knot’ ear warmers. .
She is bustin’ em out like no ones business and has baby head sized ones too!

Headbands are pretty much attached to my noggin’, so I had to have some. 
She makes all sort of colors and (they would make great stocking stuffers too)

Hope you all had a great weekend! Had lunch with the GrubWell team at @souplantation . With all the salad🥗 and soups🥣 we can eat it's hard not to love this place. Even with a busy day filled with work we still found the time to do something we love, which is eating lol😂.

Sometimes in taking the steps towards a more positive lifestyle (be it cigarettes to vaping, cutting back on drink, or reducing junk foods) we have to start by reducing in order to take those meaningful fist steps.

But it's important to remember that these are first steps, not the final destination.

Just because something is less harmful doesn't mean it isn't harmful at all.
.
Think in terms of short, medium, and long term goals with your big goal being complete freedom from the habit/substance that harms you and always keep that in mind. .
Celebrate steps towards that goal but never let your small or medium goals stop you from hitting the long term one.
.
Your health matters, and small, 'innocent' seeming harm can sometimes trick us in to thinking it isn't still hurting us. .
Don't be fooled.

Break free.

We went to a 2 year olds birthday party today (who loves Thomas the train🚆) and in doing some market research (ie. Being a mom of a two year old) I know that cardboard boxes are all the rage. 😂😂

So I got me some blue paint, printed out Toms face and stuck it to the front- and -viola, Thomas appeared!
.
But what would people think when I walked into the party with literally a cardboard box? - (I had to get that negative Nancy out of my head and just go with my gut) and you know what? I’m glad I did, because she LOVED it!!!

Not sure what meatball will think of her DIY birthday present mom when she gets older, but for now, I’ll be “the weird one that brings homemade play doh and a upscale box to all the parties.🤓

轉眼間已經來到年尾,這時候工作量往往遞增,周末放假實在需要好好放鬆一下!踏入立冬,是時候順應氣候變化,吃吃火鍋,與家人朋友好好聚一聚!近年不少餐廳都有售賣椰青雞火鍋湯底,吃起來味道清甜可口。椰香雞甜,其實材料和做法簡單,在家都能輕鬆做到。椰青性寒,正好減輕雞和火鍋的溫熱屬性。由於火鍋本身屬熱性食物,椰青雞與一般清湯火鍋一樣,整體屬性為微溫,加上沒有多加的調味和油分,是個相對養生健康的火鍋湯底選擇。

材料:椰青2-3個、新鮮雞1隻(切件,想更健康的可去雞皮)、水適量
做法:
1. 椰青切開頂部,倒出椰青水。
2. 將椰青水加入鍋中,再按個人喜好加入適量清水(可加至椰青水同等份量),用大火煮滾,然後加入雞件煮約30分鐘即成火鍋湯底。

素湯底版本:
材料:椰青2-3個、南瓜300克約半斤、去核紅棗4枚
做法:
1. 椰青切開頂部,倒出椰青水。
2. 材料洗淨,南瓜去皮,切塊,以白鍋炒香,將椰青水加入鍋中,再按個人喜好加入適量清水(可加至椰青水同等份量),用大火煮滾,然後加入南瓜及紅棗煮約30分鐘即可。

備註:
- 椰青可用現成包裝椰青水取代,但新鮮椰青更為清甜
- 可用鐵匙羹挖出椰肉加入湯底中

With a blink of an eye, we’re nearing the end of the year already. Work tends to pile up so it is important to relax properly on the weekend. As we enter winter, it is the right time to hang out over hot pot with friends and family! A lot of restaurants have been promoting young coconut and chicken soup base as it is quite tasty.  The ingredients are simple and can be easily created at home as well. Young coconut is cold in nature and can balance out the warm nature of chicken in hot pot. As hot pot is a generally already a warm-natured meal, this is a healthier option. 
Ingredients: 2-3 young coconuts, 1 fresh chicken (cut into pieces, remove skin to be even healthier), water 
Preparation:
1. Cut off the top of young coconuts and pour out juice. 
2. Place coconut juice into pot and add in appropriate amounts of water based on personal preference (Or add in same proportion to coconut juice). Cook on high heat until boiling, add in chicken and cook for about 30 minutes and you have your soup base. 
Vegetarian version:
Ingredients: 2-3 young coconuts, 400g pumpkin (about half catty), 4 pitted Chinese red dates
Preparation:
1. Cut off the top of young coconuts and pour out juice. 
2. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Peel pumpkin, cut into pieces and fry without oil. Place coconut juice into pot and add in appropriate amounts of water based on personal preference (Or add in same proportion to coconut juice). 另外,蜜棗由青棗切割多次後,加白糖煮過再曬乾而成;而無添加糖的無花果乾則是生曬而成,沒有額加入精製糖,但無花果本身的果糖含量則較高,因此有糖尿的病人兩種都不宜吃過多。
如果用無花果乾煲湯,白色和紫色外皮的無花果乾皆宜,但要注意過份潔白的無花果乾可能經過漂製防腐,有可能令湯帶酸味,所以購買時宜到有信譽的商戶購買,選擇無添加的生曬無花果乾更好。

西洋菜雪梨海玉竹素湯
功效:滋陰清熱潤燥,紓緩天氣乾燥引起的眼乾、口乾、大便乾結等症狀。
材料:西洋菜300克(約半斤)雪梨2個、紅蘿蔔1條、海玉竹30克、無花果3枚
做法:
1. 所有材料洗淨。西洋菜很易藏有小昆蟲,應用鹽水泡二十分鐘,再用水沖水備用,雪梨去芯切大塊備用;紅蘿蔔去皮切大塊備用。
2. 鍋中加入約2500毫升水,放入全部材料,武火煮至水滾,調文火煮約1.5小時,最後下鹽調味即可。
