¿Eres mamá o trabajas con niños? El Departamento de Nutrición de la Universidad de Harvard lanzó sus nuevas recomendaciones para los menús de los más pequeños y queremos hacerte un par de comentarios.

Los cambios más importantes son:
- el rol fundamental de las verduras en la nutrición infantil
- la reducción drástica de productos animales, pues ya no se recomiendan carnes rojas y se desaconseja la leche y sus derivados. También se agregan fuentes de proteína no animal, como ser legumbres.
- se eliminan los carbohidratos simples (pan y pastas blancos), y sólo se recomiendan carbohidratos complejos (pan integral, pastas de quinoa, arroz, etc).
- se reconoce la importancia de las fuentes de grasa sanas, por ejemplo el aceite de oliva y los aguacates.
- se recomienda el agua pura como principal fuente de hidratación.
- las únicas fuentes de azúcar son las frutas frescas
- se destaca la importancia de la actividad física y el juego para los niños.

Aquí  se adapta uno de los esquemas de sus recomendaciones, agregando también valores psicológicos fundamentales que ayudan a nuestros niños a crecer y desarrollarse positivamente.

Who doesn’t like cake for breaky? 
I posted step by step instructions for this on my story! I kind of guessed as I went along but it turned out perfect it is so yummy 👌🏻 recipe: mash one banana ~ 2 tbsp coconut flour ~ 2 tbsp almond milk ~ 1 egg ~ dash of cinnamon ~ 1/4 tsp baking powder ~ microwave for 2.5-3 mins ~ topped with strawberries, bluebs, hemp hearts, cacao coconut strips and almond butter 😍

Coconut flour is lower in carbs but full of fiber so you’ll be feeling full for hours :) This bowl is gf, df, low sugar and vegan. Of course you can add sweetener to this like maple syrup etc but with the fruit it really is sweet enough 🍓Enjoy! .

I have a huge appetite.

Before I realized how many calories, fat, sugars I was eating in all of that junk food, I literally could eat 3 fast food sandwiches. 
I didn’t realize how unhealthy that was until it was brought to my attention.

Now I indulge in tasty nutritional foods that will leave me feeling energized!

Eating healthy is not about starving yourself it’s about making better choices.

💪🏼Green Beans👍🏼.....get your fibre in and nutrients with green vegetables. You’ve got to have some daily greens in my opinion to have a well balanced nutritional plan. Choose from green beans, kale, spinach, broccoli etc but get a couple of portions in a day. Low calorie, filling and incredibly nutritious. Obviously you can’t cook them in butter with salt 🤣 unless you are on a keto plan. -

When I started joined the gym in January and actually made myself start going I was under the impression that lifting weights equaled bulk. First of all, I was so intimidated by the gym and couldn't fathom going in there by myself. "Everyone is going to be looking at me like what the heck is this girl doing here." "This girl has no idea how to use any of this equipment, what a joke!" °
Turns out that was a lot of self sabotage! Nobody cares who is at the gym. They are all there for themselves. Duh! Day by day I got more comfortable and stuck to my routine. After a few months I started branching out and trying new things but weights were always in there somewhere. °
Now I freaking love the gym and I feel lost on days I don't start with it! Oh and guess what?! Almost 9 months later and I'm not bulky. Turns out girls CAN lift weights and they don't automatically turn into body builders 😂 (not that there is anything wrong with bodybuilders, just not for me) Lifting weights has given me long, lean, on the way to being defined muscles.

Once you choose to love yourself and commit - it doesn’t mean it’s all smooth sailing. That negative self talk creeps up without warning that says you’re not enough. Skinny enough, a good enough yogi, teacher, or whatever it is. But when you’ve committed to the self love - you actively shut that voice down. You take a moment and say to yourself “I hear you, but I choose to not let this shape my life.”⠀

One of the many reasons I love the Weight Watchers program is because I don’t have to starve! I am a girl that loves food and I’m not willing to be hungry (or for me HANGRY 😳😂). I tried SO many gross, healthy pancake recipes before I came across this one that was SO delicious. I can make 6 pancakes for only 2 points each(or 12 small ones for 1 pt each.)I top it with sugar free syrup for another couple of points, spray butter for zero points and have a huge and filling breakfast. I used:
1 cup of pitted dates
+-100ml of water

Soak the dates in boiling water for 5-10mins until soft then throw it into the blender and blitz until smooth. You can add more or less water depending on what consistency you would like

I feel like I've really been living out this motto lately... 🍗🌮➡️🥗🥑 in Nashville, I had the classic hot chicken over mac + cheese because I'm not sure when I'll find myself there again (and, let's be real, it was damn delicious.) 🤷🏻‍♀️ I've also been having a lot of salads, eggs, and smoothies since I returned - not just to "reset" but to feel good and kick a cold I picked up on the way back. my point is there are seasons for EVERYTHING - and healthy living means embracing them all, being flexible, and making good choices more often than fun ones (because I will never label any foods as "bad")! this may not be for everyone, and you do you!, but for me it totally works to embrace the 80/20 rule as often as it makes sense and is possible. cheers to food freedom + balance! ✨

what happens when you forget your parents' anniversary & you live at home??? you start texting your sister on what to make them for dinner 😂 . .

i helped my brother while he was at the grocery store figure out what to wow my parents with. a little back & forth landed us on grilled&roasted whole red snapper, grilled bok choy, & coconut rice. . .

the meal was over all simple to make & turned out amazing! so proud of him & love that he is developing a passion for cooking real food 👏👊
