After a long morning at the DMV I was so ready/excited to stop by @sweetfin for lunch🙌🏼🍚🐟 I got a salmon & tuna BYOB Poké bowl with half black rice, half kale salad as the base & you could just tell all of the ingredients were high quality + super fresh💯 we also got infused iced teas, taro chips & matcha popcorn for dessert (which are amaze!)🙊🍿 definitely recommend checking this place if you’re in the area!
Was chatting about morning routines this week and one of my favourites, Morning Pages, came up.⠀
I have a busy brain, I started morning pages many years ago to get to the other side of this. It's a brain dump. A safe space. A way to unload. It's also a way to reflect as you find yourself writing the same things each day... you see how you might be getting in your own way, and you also start to see the things that are truly important.⠀
Well that has been the case for me at least.⠀
The idea came from a book called, "The Artist Way' by Julia Cameron. A bit of a creative classic. Have you tried them? 🍃
"Morning Pages are three pages of longhand, stream of consciousness writing, done first thing in the morning. *There is no wrong way to do Morning Pages*– they are not high art. They are not even “writing.” They are about anything and everything that crosses your mind– and they are for your eyes only. Morning Pages provoke, clarify, comfort, cajole, prioritise and synchronize the day at hand. Do not over-think Morning Pages: just put three pages of anything on the page...and then do three more pages tomorrow."⠀

We are up in North Carolina this weekend for a friends wedding. This morning Brian and I worked out in their garage and did abs in the guest bedroom. .
I used to be that person that took a complete break from working out while I was on vacation, but now I have no excuse not to get a workout in! .

Our diet isn’t perfect by any means, but one reason we got into farming was to know exactly where our food was coming from. These oils I educate about are great, but if you are filling your body with crap/processed food, the oils aren’t going to rock your world like they could if you were taking better care of your diet. 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽 If you are wanting to take some small steps in changing your diet, comment below with some foods you are having a hard time avoiding. Today was perfect. My husband and I escaped the city and went for a hike. After we got all sweaty and gross on the hike back we took a dip in the stream, it was definitely chilly but so much fun. Getting out into nature is my therapy.

I have been on a mini bulk for the last 3 weeks. During this time, I did not track anything to myfitnesspal, and macros were not a thing. I ate what I wanted without thinking twice about it. I gained a lot of strength and muscle during this time, and now I am ready to shred it out and see what’s under there and what I have been working so hard for. When healthy eating and tracking becomes too much, I like to hit the reset. While eating whatever and fueling my lifts was awesome, I am ready to get back to it on my macros again. I will focus on keeping the good carbs high so that I am able to reach my heavy lifting goals. I loved the feeling of a care free bulk and it was by no means a clean bulk like it should have been, but I think I needed to just not care for a while. That being said, I now want to see what I have been working for to up my motivation again. An awesome part about fitness and health as a lifestyle is always getting to change things up and experiment along the way. Why buy store bought dairy-free ‘protein’ ice cream that tastes pretty meh 😕 when you could whip up a protein packed superfood smoothie bowl that makes your tastebuds literally do the merengue💃🏼?!?
The smoothie base is just unsweetened coconut milk and ice with my favorite vanilla protein & vegan herbal adaptogen & superfoods blend, topped with @omg_superfoods cacao nibs, @livebeaming granola, blueberries & @jemorganics cinnamon Maca almond butter.
This baking fail turned into a win! 🙌🏽 I was going for caramel cookies but stuff did NOT go right in the kitchen 🔥Instead it evolved into No 🚫 PB 🥜 & J creamy squares
( Tastes like Peanut Butter but it’s actually Almond Butter)! PB & JELLY Creamy Squares
1/4 cup of ghee,
1/3 cup maple syrup
2 1/2cups blanched almond flour
4 TBS coconut flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup applesauce
PB (almond butter)/Caramel Sauce:
1/4 cup real maple syrup
1/4 cup coconut cream
1 Tbs Almond butter
3 Tbs refined coconut oil
Couple drops vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt
2 cups of frozen berries (strawbs,bluebs, or rasp)
1-Tbs of honey
2 tsp of cassava flour @ottos_cassava_flour -
1-Preheat your oven at 350°F. Mix the almond flour, coconut flour, salt and baking soda and add the rest of your wet ingredients. Mix until dough forms, flatten it on parchment on square baking pan. Bake for 12 min or until the edges are golden brown. Let it cool.
2-In a small saucepan over medium high heat, combine maple syrup, coconut cream, and coconut oil. Whisk until melted and combined, and bring to a boil. Boil 5 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in almond butter, vanilla extract and sea salt. Cool then add to crust
3-On med to low heat defrost berries and and cook until they're soft, making sure you mix frequently to keep from burning, add in your honey and slowly add in your cassava flour ( this is your thickening agent). Let cool and add drizzle on top of your almond butter cream. Enjoy 🤤!

HEALTH. One of my favorites things this summer has been taking a trip to the local farmers market. The amount of energy and effort these locals spend bringing us this delicious food is amazing. .
While there are some things that are pretty standard every week another thing I enjoy is being surprised at what’s new, what harvested we’ll, what didn’t, and what I’m going to be able to use in making my family dinner every night. .

Raw hulled hemp seeds. These beautiful buttery, nutty seeds deliver 10g of protein per three tablespoons. They are a good source of omega-3 and promote heart, joint, and digestive health. Hemp seeds are delicious on sliced strawberries and bananas or sprinkled atop a smoothie.

Aim to drink at the very least 8 cups or 2 liters a day, more if you are active and if it’s hot, and preferably filtered (Brita is great)

Didn’t feel like cooking today, so pasta to the rescue!🍝 I simply boiled whole wheat pasta, paired it with store bought vodka sauce & topped with freshly grated parm 🧀. .
For the roasted zucchini I cut it into thin slices, seasoned with salt, pepper & a drizzle of olive oil. Baked it at 415F for about 35-40min, or until tender & slightly browned. .

Simplemente herví pasta integral, le agregue salsa de vodka (de las que venden en el súper🤷🏻♀️) y un poquito de parmesano recién rallado 🧀 (esto nunca puede faltar!). .
Para acompañar hice este zucchini rostizado (lo corte en tiras finas, sazone con sal, pimienta y un poquito de aceite de oliva. Luego los hornee a una temperatura de 415F por 35-40min o hasta que estuvieran cocidos y un poco doraditos). .
