Yesterday I was helping @purevile sell his amazing jewelry at the @odditiesfleamarket. Thank you @voodooodolly for the fantastic crowns and thank you everyone who came out to support the artists! Also thanks @justinash666 for the creepy ass picture. I mean, if anyone should be scaring customers it should be me! #ghostfashion#moodlighting#havisham
The Nutcracker has been blasting all day in my little crafty cave and has left a taste of nostalgia. Therefore I would like to hold a little motivational speech.
I grew up next to my mom sewing. She has always been sewing and taught me how to do it too. When I was 9 years old I started playing the little Cosette in the Musical 'Les Miserables'. The moment I went behind the stage seeing all these costumes, I knew what I wanted in life. The magic that is going on in a theatre is indescribable. The costumes, the make-up, 10000 different wigs, singing actors walking down the hallway, the big orchestra... I lost my heart right there, when I was 9 years old.
Finally after school and my apprenticeship as a dressmaker I seeked my chance to become what I always wanted to be, a costume designer at a theatre. Unfortunately EVERY single theater turned me down and no one wanted me. It was discouraging and I ended up in retail. Not what I wanted! After 4 years of unhappy retail work I decided to return to my roots and show everyone my middle finger! I am not letting other people's opinions ruin my life anymore and became a self made costume designer. I am still at the very beginning, but I have never been more confident about what I want from my life. So make sure to chase your dreams, if someone turns you down prove them wrong!
This crown is for one of my mermaids and the first time I didn't hit the nail. Sometimes that happens, but as I said, never get discouraged! I sat down and switched it up until both of if us were happy. The first few pictures show the final result, when you swipe to the right you see the first version.
Sometimes the process just needs time. We all need to grow.
Never give up and always always always believe in yourself 💕
I hope you have a wonderful start into the new week ✨
