Babies have hatched! Just trying to figure out what type they are, parents are very non descriptive grey...will have to get a better look. Enjoy the cuteness.
📖🖊 Book 109_2018 - Hatched - celebrating 20 years of the Tim Winton Award for Young Writers - This book contains a collection of short stories written by middle and upper secondary students in Western Australia between 1993 and 2012. Some of them are fabulous. All of them are examples of the power of devoting time in the English classroom to writing and exploring stories. This particular copy has me stumped, though. Published and purchased by our school library in 2013, it was weeded in term 1, 2016. I found it in one of a stack of boxes of books in our book room. The books had all been rescued by the English faculty following a frenzied weeding by the new Librarian immediately upon her arrival at the school. I don’t really understand weeding. And I certainly don’t understand our grey, miserable library that feels empty and uninviting. But I can see the logic of needing to keep books on rotation. I guess I’m just a bit surprised by such a seemingly new book being discarded and stamped ‘withdrawn’ so promptly. Can my librarian friends shed some light? Is three years a reasonable shelf life? Are there rules? I’m sad for this little, unloved book. But I can also see why maybe it wasn’t very appealing to students. See how well it blended in with the beige to brown vibe of my holiday cabin decor, though! 😂 #whatimreading#bookblogger#booklover#samreads66#hatched#timwinton#holidaycabindecor
