Yesterday marked 4 years since my father passed away
Yesterday I started a new fitness program...yes, that’s right...on the darkest of dark days for me, I worked out & stayed true to my nutrition plan.
I had every reason in the world to NOT workout; every reason to eat ALL the junk food. I even had every reason to not get out of bed...but I didn’t give in to the excuses for several reasons 🔹 My father taught me to never give up & to work hard for all the things that you want 🔹 My father would not want me sitting around being sad 🔹 I’ve made commitments to my husband & children, friends & family & to all of my challengers 🔹 My “why” is bigger than my excuses 🔹 It’s NO EXCUSES NOVEMBER
This does not mean I didn’t miss my father at all yesterday or even shed an extra tear...because I certainly did & I cried a little harder than I normally do when I think of him. This just meant I wasn’t going to let the fried take over & dictate my day. I knew I need to be in the right frame of mind to carry on through the day. I needed to recommit myself to a new program & sweat out those tears!! It was exactly what I needed!!! If this is something you need too then join me...it’s never to late!!

Funny thing about health and fitness is, your destination changes as you change! I bought this as a #goalshirt . I was determined to fit into it and feel good wearing it. When I slipped it on this morning after not wearing it for months, I realized....I haven’t worked out for three days. Yes I’ve been busy moving, but that doesn’t give me a excuse to not take care of my body, does it ?! .
Today I start by taking care of me. My motto is - Happy. Healthy. Active. Because I wanna race my grandkids up a hiking mountain 🏔 and still have my breath at the top to yell back down “ I beat ya!! “ .
Fact: I wasn’t always a morning person. ☀️ I remember in college when my friend would call me on Saturday mornings at 10am to go eat brunch before the campus dining closed & I would still be in bed, usually hungover from a long night of drinking. 🥂 I was always tempted to avoid her calls, but I knew if I did, she’d probably keep calling or just show up to my dorm and drag me out of bed anyways. 🏢
What changed?? Well one, I don’t really drink anymore & two, my child was one of those that didn’t sleep for more than a couple hours at a time for the first 14 months. 😴 I also read this really great book by @melrobbinslive called The 5 Second Rule that gave some amazing pointers on talking yourself out of procrastinating. 📖 5-4-3-2-1 Get Up!
It took months of practice & trial & error to see what worked best for me, but it eventually clicked. Now, mornings are my most productive hours. 📝

The hustle and bustle of the holidays can take a toll on our health if you don’t make time to take care of yourself. It's hard enough to exercise the rest of the year, but add holidays to the mix and many of us find exercise becomes less of a priority as to-do lists grow longer and longer.
The last thing you want is more stress and, for many of us, trying to make a workout class or fit an hour in at the gym does just that. What we really need, especially this time of year, is flexibility!
Having a program that we can do in the comfort of our own home that we can fit in at anytime of the day, is what can keep us on track and avoiding holiday excuses! This is real life. My workouts are hard. They challenge me every single time. I modify. Sometimes I’m close to throwing up. I yell. Breathe hard. Press pause. BUT I. LOVE. IT.
It’s necessary to do hard things, that’s what helps us to grow. How boring would life be if nothing was challenging? If everything was handed to us? If we didn’t have to earn anything?
This picture is perfect in so many ways. My entire life I have had to work hard for everything. Although it’s been tough, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I am a better person because I’ve struggled and worked my butt off.

Mentally, I really needed this workout this morning. To help me clear my mind, focus on the positive things in my life and give me clarity. How do you deal with the stress in your life? What helps you clear away the negativity in your mind?
During last nights Vision Board party, @jamiefitzpatrickfitness talked about how the most successful people do personal development, and in particular MEDITATE. Take @tonyrobbins @msrachelhollis @jensincero as examples.
So when we started identifying our 2019 goals, this was one that was pretty high on my list.
I used to meditate consistently in the past and found it really reduced stress and anxiety for me, and just all around made me more centred and grounded. But then life got in the way and I stopped.
As you know I’m all about morning routines, so I’m going to carve out 10 minutes to get back to this positive habit. There are some great apps out there. I like Calm and the free one Insights Timer.

4 years ago I made the choice to take a chance on improving my health having no clue how much it would change my life! ✨
I went from sad, depressed, overweight and insecure to happy, confident, healthy and full of life.......not to mention 40 pounds down!!! 🙌🏻 No, things didn't change overnight (as much as I prayed 🙏 they would). Lasting change takes time, but the first step is to make a choice.
You can keep putting it off saying tomorrow......but we know what happens after that right? ❌ NOTHING! ❌
It's ok to be scared to try something new. It's NOT ok to never make the choice to take a chance on something that could end up being the most incredible change in your life. ❤️
Don’t you just LOVE that feeling when you’ve experienced a big accomplishment?? That high you get......and the pride you feel!! 💕🙌🏻
I wrapped up the last day of my exercise program today.....8 WEEKS BABY!! 👊🏻✅ And feel pretty damn BADASS! 😆 ✌🏻 rounds in the books and jumping into a new journey with my FitFam girls starting Monday!!

I NEVER used to be a morning person! I was actually more of a 8-10 hours a sleep kinda girl if I’m being honest. 🤣 So when I hear other women tell me, “I can’t get up early like you do” or “I’m not a morning person”......YES YOU CAN. ———— When you think about doing something new, it is completely normal to think you can’t do it. The first few days will be brutal, but day by day it gets easier and easier until it just becomes habit. ———— I challenge you to try it.....not just once, but for a week. Then see how you feel. I bet you’ll feel better, more accomplished and damn proud of yourself!! ✨ ———— BTW......if you aren’t in my FitFam yet.....GIRRRRRL what are you waiting for??? 💕
In an effort to keep the little guy occupied while I was getting ready this morning, I showed him how the bathroom scale works. From a child’s perspective it’s pretty magical that when you stand on it, numbers appear.
And from this mama’s perspective it was pretty magical today as well when I realized that me and my 27 pound 16 month old weigh less than my pre-pregnancy weight. For me, the baby weight came off with breastfeeding, but the weight loss beyond pre-pregnancy weight came in the last few months. However, the weight loss is the least of my victories.
Better quality sleep (even with waking up for kids)
Decreased social anxiety
Stronger immune system
Off all prescription and over the counter meds
Allergies are gone
Autoimmune symptoms are basically nonexistent
I am amazed at the impact balancing my hormones, evening my blood sugar, and controlling inflammation have had on my overall health. And the foundation of it all is getting my gut healthy. The right amount of good/bad bacteria with a probiotic that kills the yeast overgrowth is key. Such an easy switch that has had such an impact on my life. Definitely thankful for this today.
