The last few days I’ve been focusing on fluidity and presence. Basically going with the flow when things don’t go exactly as planned, letting go of expectation, and tuning in to the present moment. For a lot of us this doesn’t come easily. We like to be in control. Over others. Over our lives. But the funny thing is, we never have true control over anyone or anything except our own thoughts. So when I find myself annoyed, or disappointed, or uncomfortable because things didn’t play out exactly how I had planned, I’ve started to reflect on my mindset. First of all, let go of all expectations. They only lead to disappointment and are completely self-created. No one else knows you have them or what they are which makes it almost impossible for them to live up to these. Unless they read minds (which I doubt) or you constantly are updating them on what you expect at all times (which, hello, is super annoying 🙄). People will let you down. Because they aren’t perfect and life happens and plans change and that’s okay. So letting go of expectation is step one. Step two is to be fully grounded in the present moment. Expectations are created when we are living in the future. We are already contributing to and sending energy towards fears and worries that we have regarding our future selves. Anger, disappointment, sadness, all come from living in the past. We are dwelling on things that cannot be changed. Wallowing in negative emotion that we have yet to let go of. Instead the focus should be on the present moment. Are you okay right now? Are you safe? Are you free to do and think and be whatever you want in this individual moment? Keep the mind there. Keep the heart there. The world will happen around you. Plans will change. People will let you down. But it is a choice. To be present. To be happy. To forgive. To be patient. These are choices. And the more you open yourself up to possibility and let go of control, the more easily you can create a state of fluidity, Universal fluidity. The good stuff. The high-on-life, I’m an abundant badass with limitless opportunities kind of good stuff. ☀️🌊||

I moved to Baltimore randomly 6 years ago & initially thought it would be for a short period of time.
