And finally the stain is applied. Teak is a much different timber than it was 60 years ago like most woods. The teak you buy now has a much higher oil content and splotchy grain pattern in some areas as compared to old growth. Because of this different stains and pigments are used to achieve a color similar to the original finish. The second picture is a red pigment stain followed by brown with a dash of red in it. #hanswegner#andreastuck

I am obsessed with how they chose to display these simple everyday objects that have been designed impeccably. I've heard people say "Eh, a chair is a chair" while out shopping and it takes everything in me to not jump in with "Well, they function in similar ways but the form is where it gets good..."
Hans Wegner (1914-2007)
Born in 1914 in Denmark, Hans Wegner is a Danish architect and designer. He studied at the School of Crafts in Copenhagen with the ambition to become an architect. At the age of 17, he made his first wooden creations. Soon, he created his design agency and quickly met with great success. With "The Chair », his success took on an international dimension. John F. Kennedy, then a candidate at the US presidential election, commissioned this chair for the presidential debate against Richard Nixon to ease his back pain. Hans Wegner is considered as one of the founding fathers of Scandinavian design. The shape and organic design of his furniture quickly became symbols of Scandinavian modernism. All furniture (chairs, armchairs, tables and sofa) of the Danish designer have simple and timeless lines, and were primarily designed to be functional.

Jean-Marie Massaud's Aiku chair in gloss white and olive green saffiano-effect polypropylene. A perfect antidote to the natural simplicity of Hans Wegner's mid-century CH338 table. . . . .
