My day was just made by a 6 year old girl and her dad. I taught them a private - she loved anything up high and he was astounded by all thr things they could do.
They had done Superman aka Bird, a few times and this lesson was a gift from daughter (with help from mom) to dad so they could learn some new moves for the beach this summer.
I'm pretty sure a smile never left his face for the entire hour. This was the first time he had ever flown and the first time he'd based a "grown up". She was curious and excited and trusting. She wanted to know why bow pose is called bow (like a bow and arrow) and was very keen to tell dad to do things as I had.
I flew her dad in therapuetics and knew in that moment that I would see them again.
In the end I had two happy humans playing in the grass and I haven't stopped smiling since I left. This is why I love this practice. This is why I continue to share and offer it again and again. This is what it's all about.

I wanted to show you this really awesome multi-beneficial handstand drill. Benefits: improve handstand balance and endurance, set 🔥 to back and abdominal muscles.
If you can’t get into this yet then use a wall for support or practice kicking up into a handstand and bringing your knees as close to your chest as possible (into a tuck). You will feel your hips move to a good position to allow some floating time. #handstanddrills
I cried in public a few times today and my response was that it felt totally authentic and normal. My sister and I have spoken every single day - cried every single day - about these migrant children. She said, “nothing matters if this is happening.” And that’s really all there is to say. We’ve done irreparable damage to these babies and families. 2,000 children need to be reunited with their parents and some have been flown as far north as New York, while their parents have been deported or sent who knows where. Infants. babies. Who are we? It feels right to feel disturbed all day long. There isn’t happiness when this is going on. Even though an executive order has been signed, let us not forget that #trumpcamp is real! And it will continue. The fight continues. .

My father took the kids for a few hours so I could have some time to myself. I’ve spent the whole time Yogaing, which I didn’t realize I’ve been neglecting so hard since their summer break began. I am exhausted. 😅 I even made time for my swing tho! 🙃

In this asana advancement series Marysia will teach you how to use your thoughts to effectively channel your energy. This work magnifies capability. The key is in learning how to remain motivated while taking on greater and greater challenges. It’s about learning how to experience stressful situations without getting stressed.
During this three-day course you will learn how to better connect with your body and trust your goals. Expansion is very much related to knowing when to take a rest and when to push. Expansion also about knowing how to effectively analyze and reflect on the work you’ve done so that you remain enthusiastic as you aspire to more. This kind of effective thinking is extremely helpful both on and off the yoga mat.
In class you can expect to work on arm balances, inversion, backbends, hip openers and some wild transitions. Surya Namaskar Handstand will also be practiced to reemphasize handstand techniques. Handstand takes a long time to learn and flow with; Marysia will help you get there faster. Marysia is adamant in her practice of inclusiveness so if you are intimidated, don’t be. Handstand progress post. Still looking like a banana 🍌 so there’s that.😂 Update: While practicing jumping to the front of my mat from downdog (I can not, for the life of me catch any float time, but I digress) something “popped” in my left wrist which felt AMAZING. I have no idea what, and it doesn’t matter. What DOES matter is how moving in my “weak” areas resulted in what feels like a smoother range of motion! Same thing happened with my left knee about 5 years ago. During a yoga practice, something popped in my knee, and it hasn’t felt “tweaked” since that time.
