Three great drills to improve your handstands, 1) Weighted Dowel Dislocates 2) Standing Wall Cat stretch to standing pond hollow stretch 3) Seiza to Pike drill. >>>>> Tuck jump to Handstand. Demonstrated by assistant coach @bluhming #PNWGSTfamily
Finer points. 1) Dislocates, work your way narrower with a give weight then slightly bump up the weight only to work your way from wider to narrower again. Maintain palm contact to elicit a nice wrist stretch as well as maintaining locked out arms. 2) Wall Cat/Hollow, arms stay straight. Actively elevated and protract the shoulders. Focusing and global arch and chest to wall for the Cat and forced hollow shape with a chest to wall/down action in the long hollow stretch. 3) Seiza to pike, the closer the hands are to the knees the harder the exercise. Maintain straight arms and pressure through your shoulders the entire time. Hollow shape, focusing the rotation at the shoulders. 💥 Finally the tuck jump AKA the Stiletto!

If anyone wants to be proud of me, know that I held this for two whole Mississippi seconds!! I’m slowly working my away to the middle of the room. This is an incredible feeling for someone who HATES “not being good” at something on her first try. Trust me... I’ve been trying. And trying. And TRYING! But I’m so in love with the process, that the end goal just feels like icing!
We are not normally city people, we enjoy island life and jungles but Athens is an exotic city with unique streets and alleys around every corner! They are full of colorful street art. If you know me, you know i love elephants so when i found this art I have to incorporate it into a cool shot.
This is a deep straddle handstand with the wall! I have been working on my handstands a lot lately and i am starting to balance them more and more. Learning to balance is hard and it takes a lot of consistency and patience but i keep showing up everyday putting in work. It is beginning to pay off but soon Once I have my handstands I will begin to incorporate this variation.

On occasion I feel what the f*** did I just do/say!! It’s probably because whatever was done/ said was not a regular occurrence or rationally may not make sense.
Usually the results are a more raw/ direct/ honest state.

DELOAD week means extra time to play around with gymnasty things! .
.It’s been 8 weeks of a brutal, yet extremely effective training cycle. I’ve taken it back to the basics, fixed some inefficient movement patterns and gotten real accustomed to a heavy barbell. Ready for a big year.
After many many failed attempts, various sticks, and one broken stick (R.I.P.), I was finally (sort of) able to send the handstand stick challenge!!! I was definitely feeling like Ricky Bobby with my feet while trying this since I’m so used to pointing my toes in handstands. But now I have a new party trick to work on! Gotta go for that full extension and lower. And yes, I am that weirdo who brings her own broom stick to the gym. JUDGE MEEEE. Swipe to see some serious Ricky Bobby foot action.
