Grateful for friends who keep you woke .... -
Yesterday I commented about the immigrant detention centers being one of the worst moral crises in this country in decades. My friend so poetically educated me in that moment, as my white privileged blood so gruesomely undermined the plight of black and brown POC since forever in this country. We have had and continue to have an ongoing moral crisis in this country with the systemic oppression of Brown and Black folks (murder of black people everyday, violence of indigenous people, etc). The recent horrors of the immigrant detention centers/family separation are merely an abhorrent and cruel symptom of an already racist and broken system. -
I thank her for educating me. I told her not to thank me for correcting myself. I told her to keep educating people who err on this matter, ESPECIALLY WHITE WOMEN! .
Failed to keep up with #invertforjoy but here’s a (first of the day) press for the final day anyway, because I don’t do enough presses these days and should pick up the habit of pressing at least once a day again. No wonder straddle or pike presses are still so far from happening.. Hosts: @alexzandrapeters @tiny.kirsty @coffeeandrainbows @chelseasyoga Sponsors: @aloyoga @alo.moves
“Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death.” - Anais Nin✨⠀
Embrace the changes in your life, and make sure your story is a good one.
Quick handstand practice while waiting for the school bus.
Sometimes this is what my daily yoga looks like:
Squeezing in bits and pieces of movement throughout my day so I still feel human.
FWIW, this is exactly why I decided to create an online yoga space for other busy mamas.
An online yoga studio, a community, a place where we can share in the powerful practice of yoga in little bite-sized chunks because life can be nuts sometimes and getting to a class can be damn-near impossible.
I've had the virtual doors open for these 2 communities for 10 months now and on December 16th, I am closing them.
I'd love for you to join in before the doors close.
I don't know when I'll be accepting new members again.
All I know is that I want you to be a part of my community.
Especially if you want more than just little bits of movement here and there.
This is not your average online yoga studio or community.
The big difference: you get to actually practice with me live online. We get to see each other. We can connect, share, grow together.
It's really beautiful and a massive privilege for me.
I'd be honored if you'd join the Collective or the Collective LITE before the doors close on Sunday night.

✨ Uncomfortable Spaces ✨
To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest ~ Pema Chödrön
In classes, sometimes say “I’m not here to keep you in your comfort zone” or “Growth & evolution happens when we move into uncomfortable/unknown territory. It’s where we meet our edges, our fears & ourself head-on. It’s where we create space for honest self-observation”.
I haven’t posted videos from my handstand classes in a while. Mostly, because my coach has thrown me out of my comfort nest🥴. It’s been a hard couple of weeks of mental frustration as I move out of my physical comfort zone. I’ve uttered a lot of “I can’t” or “I’m not ready!”, only to realize after that I COULD & I WAS ready! It’s fascinating to observe the ego, and its captivating ways of keeping us chained to our self-limiting beliefs. Let me be clear, that I don’t mean trying something dangerous or doing something before your body is ready, but finding places that are uncomfortable & edgy and exploring new territory. Practice intelligently. Trust the process.👌🏽
My coach has upped my handstand drills & slowly been weaning me away from the wall with canes. Even though I can stay up without the wall’s help, it’s comforting to have the wall near by. The scariest part was learning to come off the canes on my own (watch till end). I may make it look easy in the video, but I assure you that deep breaths, focus & facing my fear of splatting on my face(literally!) was present.
This handstand journey has brought with it so many lessons. More than just being able to hang out on my hands. As much as I love hand balancing, it’s the wisdom & breaking barriers that keep it exciting, thrilling & have me coming back for more.
Went to Cirque Du Soleil!! The 2 photos are from the show🤩...and my next goal of doing a handstand on a freestanding ladder & trapeze!😉🙃😆
But seriously, nothing is impossible with a little (or a lot!) of will, discipline, practice, guidance/wisdom from great teachers(who call you out on your BS) & PASSION.♥️
Holy crap! Today I totally unexpectedly landed a handstand to pincha! 😳 I haven’t even tried to do this in at least 3 years and today got it on the first try?! The body is so crazy! 🤪 I guess I was ready! 🤷🏼♀️
Anywhoeooo... Day 6 of #HoHoExpress is Scorpion!
Any variation you choose is good: headstand, pincha or handstand! Feel free to use a wall if needed! 💕
