Practice, Practice, Practice! Some days are better than others and working on pushing through my hands in #handstand . Getting a few of my #corporateyoga students to try after #yogaflowfriday class too!
This is one of my favorite shoulder stretches ever! And it only requires 5 yoga blocks 😜 (or 1 yoga block and a bench or chair or other surface that you can place your elbows on)
. . .
When might you want to practice this stretch? When you’re looking to increase your overhead range of motion - which we need for poses like wheel (urdhva dhanurasana), handstand, down dog, etc.
. . .
Holding a block between your hands, place your elbows on 2 stacks of 2 blocks each - or on the edge of a bench or chair seat.
. . .
Then keeping your front ribs contained, press your chest toward the floor until you feel a shoulder stretch. Then lift back up and repeat a few more times.
. . .
On your last round, settle in for awhile and hold here. At first, actively push your hands into the block to light up some excellent shoulder engagement while in the stretch.
. . .
After a few breaths of this active stretch, release that push and just enjoy your well-deserved passive shoulder stretch for a few breaths.
. . .
Then slowly rise back up and appreciate your like-new shoulders! 💙
I want to work on my handstands again - I haven’t really spent much time practicing this last year but instead being in specific advanced teacher trainings. I’m behind a computer writing about others yoga way more than I’m on a mat doing mine 🤔. I have some really cool professional milestones coming up I can’t wait to share, new trainings launching next year, but I need to get on the mat 🤸🏽♀️
It's #getyourshittogethersunday for our Mind Body Babes! 🙏🙏🙏
👊 How can I show up differently this week?
👊 What needs to go?
👊 What needs to stay?
👊 Acknowledge your wins!
👊 Which habits need a refurbish?
👊 Who can I ask for help? 👊How can I OWN my goals in a not negotiable way this week?
👌 This work is only work you can do babes.
Make a plan and get to work!
You've got this! ❤
It takes perseverance, determination and will to learn something. No matter is a yoga pose or playing piano. Feeling comfortable, not perfect but just comfortable in doing it takes additional time and patience. I’m not good in the last one but if I stuck my head on something I’ll come to it. Then obviously I’d impatiently back up and eventually do it again. It’s like going circles until I’d finally understand the idea of just doing it and working on it without interruptions or distractions. Today I have been patient. Tomorrow I will probably find other distractive pose I’m wishing to find eventual comfort in. #yoga#yogaeverywhere#yogaeverydamnday#yogapose#practicemakesperfect#practiceandalliscoming#handstand#handstandvariation#armbalances
