The #carvedecember prompt today is 'fit'. I decided to *finally* try to make a repeating rubberstamp and make it 'fit' together. It was actually fairly far outside my comfort zone to try. But I love the results and I definitely want to try more of these! Thank you to @balzerdesigns for creating this challenge and the prompts - and thanks to all the amazing artists here who inspired me and helped me decide that repeats might be worth trying... especially the lovely repeats that @martaharveyart and @regnitzflimmern have made this month! Y'all are so encouraging and inspiring! :o)
But now I'd like the rest of the month off just to play...
The beauty of working with green wood.
Rather than enforcing your will upon a piece of dry dimensioned timber, you let nature guide you. Use the flow and strength of a trees fibers for the form of your spoon.
This series of photos shows a plum tree crook transformed into a tactile and insanely strong little ladle. The hard work will be forgotten as the years of use roll by.
I'm thinking pankakes or......
On 20.21/10, we organized as IRAK, a new linocut workshop in @monitor_fest, in Crete
This is a newborn child, printed by my daughter, Rebecca
IRAK is Hera Spagadorou (Engraver) and Christos Kotsinis (Graphic designer).
They began their collaboration based on their common beliefs about the power that conceals solid design, simple forms and indirect messages.
Apart from designing objects and publications, they organize workshops for children that have to do with the modern forms of various engraving techniques.
In 2017, they organized the project “Rolling over the Village" for the Vovousa Festival, and next year, EΒΓΕ (Greek Graphic Design & Illustration Awards) awarded them with a prize in the CATALOGUE OF ARTISTS’ category, for the ‘’Kids are printing miracles’’ where all the prints engraved by the kids, were gathered in a limited edition catalogue, covered by a special print from a real wooden surface
At MONITOR, one of their members, Christos Kotsinis, created together with the children imaginative illustrations based on the lyrics of Odysseas Elytis. After an introduction to contemporary engraving and its close relationship to illustration, they engraved together and afterwards they printed on colorful papers, small memorial posters that emerged from the lyrics of his poems. Beyond the posters, the children finally got a small souvenir with the portrait of the poet, looked like a bum
We are very honoured being hosted by @monitor_fest

Axing out a spoon for a Christmas Gift 🎁
Maybe silly to some, but I have a strong connection to my craft, taking life and stripping it down into a utensil to feed other life... there is such a beauty in the process that I really can not put into words. It’s an honor to assist in the process of the transformation from one form to the other ☺️ I respect everything about the process.
Serving tea 🍵 is a common etiquette in Chinese people’s daily life. It is a way to show respect to guest and friends. Last dinner night 🍽 with friends in #CostaMesa . Thanking them for a wonderful evening with friends. Pouring and serving tea to others is a sign of respect for them.
Traditional #jade#teapot and jade #teacups for 👑 royalty only. It’s wonderful to carve these for everyone to use daily today. Special dragon 🐲 jasmine tea is what we served that evening. #jadebynikolai#mondayartstory
Tweaking my spreader design to closer match my cheese knife, just embellishing on the handle a bit, right in the middle of a bunch of other stuff because that’s probably a good idea this close to Christmas right? 😁 #kitchentable#cooking#cheflife#design#spreader
