I'm wanting all the snacks today! The training hunger is so real! It doesn't help that I work in a lab for a lot of my day so I can't have food or water with me at all times😭. I start to get a little hangry and distracted if I'm stuck in there for too long - my mind starts dreaming about my snacks in my office 😂 
What are your guys favorite snacks to enjoy on days when your just ravenous? Bonus points for something that can be packed up for a work snack!

What I had planned as a 3 or 4 mile run turned into 7.5 miles as I was enjoying exploring parts of the Cotswold Way I’ve not run on before and also ended up back on some of my leg of this year’s Cotswold Way Relay. Slowing and walking for some of the hills, stopping to take pics, and just taking it all in and enjoying it.

Just going out and running is great, it can make any problem feel manageable, it can spark ideas, and it makes you feel good! 
But if you want to take it to the next level you are gonna need a plan. Whatever your goal having a plan gives every session a focus and a meaning. "But I just want to get fit" you say. A plan will make that easier as every session becomes a mini goal. Each one you tick off feeds the motivation beast and the more it eats the more motivated it becomes.

So whether you want to get fit or win the next Olympics go get a plan. It's never to late to start. You can do it yourself, download one for free or even get a coach.

Not my day today. Going to be honest here. In the thick of this run I was actually questioning why I do this. Why do I have such big goals that take so much hard work? This hurts! Maybe I should just stop training and just run easy all the time? Uggg! Thoughts. But I struggle in the heat...I don’t excel in it. It was 70 dew point when I was done! I know the heat effects me but there is something in my head that blames me. Why Am I so slow when I’m busting my ass??? I work so hard! Maybe I should just give up and not finish this workout? More thoughts. I then told myself, don’t quit, go off effort!!! That’s what matters!! The dizziness was really getting to me so I stopped at a hotel after my workout to cool off and use the bathroom. I then started to get really lightheaded. My HR was out of control that I could feel it through my chest and it felt like someone was strangling me because I couldn’t breathe. OMG! Am I having an anxiety attack? I almost called an Uber to take me home but walked the 2 miles home....in tears with an elevated HR having a pitty party. I’m ok now!
This is the first summer I’ve done speed work training for a marathon. Last summer I was injured(no fall marathon)and in 2016 when I was training for my first marathon I didn’t have any speed work in my plan, just run. 
I usually train on the TM but my schedule is different and I have been able to get outside a lot. I guess I’m just not use to it. But that’s no excuse. I need to suck it up! This will make me stronger. I feel better now and no I’m not quitting! Just pissed lol!! Fall Pr’s are made in the summer, right?

I morse 70 min PW i olika tempon och nu på kvällen var det dags för ett aerobt crosstrainer pass, ett pass med lite utmaning i. 30 minuter i ett högre motstånd än normalt (9 mot oftast 7) - 5 minuter serievila - 30 minuter till med samma motstånd. Bara man justerar lite grann, då ger det effekt direkt. Klev av crosstrainern efter sista 30 minutrarna och var riktigt trött. Fortsatte med enbents övningar på plinten och stänger en bra rehab dag! .
Skadan i låret, som var en lättare blödning, känns bättre och bättre för varje dag. Med ett bra rehab upplägg i samråd med coachen, bra behandlingar av Peppe på @carlstadalternativmedicin och att jag gör ett smart jobb så kommer detta att bli riktigt bra. Det tråkiga är så klart att det inte blir något #jönköpinghalvmarathon2018 nu på lördag, hade verkligen sett fram emot det, men vi sätter nytt/nya mål lite längre fram, och då är gubben starkare.

This morning 70 min PW at different pace and now in the evening it was time for an aerobic crosstrainer pass, a passport with a little challenge in. 30 minutes in a higher resistance than normal (9 to most 7) - 5 minutes serievila - 30 minutes to with the same resistance. Only one adjusts a little bit, then it gives effect immediately. Stacked the crosstrainer after the last 30 minutes and was really tired.

The damage to the thigh, which was a lighter bleeding, feels better and better for each day. With a good rehab setup in consultation with the coach, good treatments by Peppe at @carlstad alternative medicine and that I do a smart job, this will be really good. The sad thing is clear that there will be no # jönköpinghalvmarathon2018, really looking forward to it, but we are setting new / new goals a bit further, and then the old man is stronger.

Answer: The key to any training plan is to make a realistic bridge between your current condition and your goal. Training is the perpetual cycle of destruction and adaptation (the human body is amazing, people.), but injury and burnout are results of going too hard, too fast, for too long (in more situations that just running.)

So, how do you find out what's too hard and what's just right?

Let's start by talking about your VDOT:

I use the VDOT Scale (or "V02 Max" Scale) to get a realistic idea of goal times over a given amount of months. (You can use the scale that I linked in our bio).

Locate your VDOT based on your current mile time or recent race time. Training plans should increase your VDOT every ~4-6 weeks. So, if you want to run a 5k in three months, look at your VDOT +3. If you want to run a 10k in four months, look at your VDOT +4. If you want to run a sub-2 hour half marathon, count the difference between your VDOT and the two-hour VDOT: that's about how many months you'll need to accomplish that goal.

A training plan that tries to move you forward faster (in weekly mileage, training paces, or goal time) than what you've determined using the VDOT scale might be too aggressive for you.

If this all sounds deflating to you or if you want to run a certain goal time this fall but your research shows it's unrealistic, I recommend going the conservative route: run the half marathon at a realistic time (again, check out your VDOT), then take heart: step back and unpack why that goal time/race/distance feels important to you. Then, know that it's still doable, you just get more time to build a solid running base in the meantime.

First non-running workout in like three weeks- oops!!! Decided instead of just jumping back into #bbg I would just do a random full body workout I found online. I did 50/10 instead of the full minute which gave me time to switch or grab weights. I will definitely be feeling this one tomorrow!!! .

Splits were; 4.21✔4.26✔4.14✔4.43❌4.25✔4.37❌4.34❌4.30✔4.42❌4.46❌....a 50% strike rate...however, I do like to analyse the data until I find something that pleases me - my mean pace was 4.32mins/km today compared with a mean of 4.35mins/km a month ago ...that'll do!! #tinygains 😊😊

I loved the @aaptiv run! It got a bit hard at one point and I kept adding in a 1 minute recovery. But, I consider that a goal. I held 6.5mph for 2 minutes at the end of the workout. That’s no small feat for me. The avg pace is with a 5 minute walking cool down. Pretty fast for me! I however, did not like the Nike training app workout. I expected more upper body. There was more core and some of the moves were weird/not effective. I ended up throwing in some of my own moves. 🤷‍♀️. It was still a solid day in the gym. Monday’s glute workout still has me sore! Looking forward to a session on my bike tomorrow. Another 5 mile easy run on the beach today, though this pic is from yesterday 🤣 I tried to take a selfie of me drinking my post run smoothie with the ocean in the background and it just didn’t work out 🙈 I am loving running on the boardwalk in the mornings and passing so many other runners! I was supposed to go 2 miles today, but I’m stupid and tried to go at 11:30 in the afternoon when it’s 82 degrees and feels like 87 🤦🏻‍♀️ so I only got 1.22 miles in but I got my 12 mile pace like I wanted!! F A I T H - it’s what has given me purpose and hope throughout my whole life.  Especially this past year after losing my Dad.

After my run today I was informed that a close friend passed away last night.  I had just  completed one of the most peaceful 3 miles I have ran in a long time.  After hearing the news, I panicked.  All the raw feelings and pains of grief resurfaced, just like that. .
.
“How can this be?” Then I sat at the table where my study notes were left open from this morning’s study.
.
• F A I T H in Jesus Christ can help us to seek after the important things in life. (The very things that will allow us to heal and live our life to the fullest with purpose)
.
• F A I T H in Jesus Christ empowers us to accomplish all we need to do.
(to have the power to endure life’s hardest times and to carry on with our individual purpose in life)
.
.
When I feel defeated by life happening, I am reminded to tap back into that F A I T H.  It’s what will put me back on the road to peace, to direction, to purpose and of course to hope.
.
.
I am so grateful for another day to run, to breath, to talk to my loved ones, to hug my kids, to kiss my husband, to feel healthy and to be alive.  We will carry on Diane, that’s exactly what you always did and would have us do.  I love you and Thank you, for everything 🙏😔 Hug Dad for me ❤️ We miss you already.

Which turned into a laughing fit when I realised I had timed my ‘she looks like she’s about to die / cough up her guts’ moment just round the corner from the hospital. I've been cranking out the distance lately and feeling really good about it. Last long run was 8.5 miles!!! And I was right on my time goal at 11.4 minutes per mile pace. I started out faster and slowed down toward the end, but it all evened out!
