I continue to surprise myself.
The last year as a climber has been a struggle. Between shoulder and finger injuries, a broken ankle and on and off back pain from a car accident in February, getting back to normal has sometimes felt impossible. It has been a rollercoaster of feeling limited, fearful and having self-doubt creep in when trying things at my limit.
Why then, do I do it? Aside from the fact that I love it, climbing has become the most grounding and growing practice in my life. I can't think of a time when I'm more mindful and present than when you're face to face with the risks of injury and even death in some cases. It has also created a space for me to actively face my fears and push my perceived limits, physical or mental.
Yesterday, I got to experience a multipitch climb up the slabby granite face of the Apron Wall of the Chief. I was brought face to face with all sorts of emotions and physical struggles, but at the end of the adventure, the only thing I felt was proud that I continue to push myself to be better.

Beauty in the release.

Getting somewhat physically fit and strong is something on my to do list. I've spent the last few years beyond distracted with stress, depression, trauma, ptsd and everything else that comes with all that, that the days, weeks, months and years have disappeared while i was deep in a dark place. My sleep and mealtimes had no consistency or routine and i had to really focus on the basic stuff like just getting up and getting in the shower - believe me, i get it, i know how real it is.
I'm just thankful to be on some other side of all that experience. Its time to focus on some real self love and self care. Time to achieve another set of goals.
Think i need to make this my best year yet.
Also me - nearly finished the 3rd block of chocolate this week 😅 (coconut chocolate = my weakness). #booty#rockineverywhere#gainz#getfit#getstrong#2018#happiness#wellbeing#nutrition#thegoodlife#selflove#selfcare#habits#routine#rest#beyourbest#beyourself#loveyourself
This is right about my time frame. I'm at about twelve weeks and I have really started to hear it. Before I started this, I never would have let someone take a side profile picture of me, but when your friend says, "Oh my gosh!! Look how skinny you look. Turn sideways and let me take a picture", you do exactly that. I'm not where I want to be, but I have all the time left of my life to work on it. Slow and steady wins the race, right?? ❤🚶😊#habits#walkingmyselffit#imakeepatit#24weeks#shouldbeamazing#cantwait#notaquitter 💪 #weightsarenext#progression

Our default is to focus on what we need rather than what we have.
Whereas if we focused on the very things that we have in the palm of our hands, we will spot opportunities that we once missed.
Fact is, whatever it is that we want to do, we have enough in our hands to take the first step.
So don’t focus on what you need, look at what you have, and do your best with what you’ve got!

Are you ready for some brain exercises---work on your balance! Your brain has to send messages to your stabilizer muscles to help keep your upright. When we stand on two feet on solid ground the muscles in your feet, ankles and lower legs don't have much to do and the neurons in your brain which are in charge of those signals, never get to fire. If you don't lose it you lose it, so get out there and challenge yourself. It is never too late or too early to get started, and yes, when you first start your balance will not be good. Why would it---you haven't practiced! Keep at it---your future self will thank you!
#day3 you were sooooo good!!! Love love love deadlifts and they were in the 20min Amrap today so just to be sure I did enough of them when I knew I couldn’t do a whole round before the end I just did as many deadlifts as I could! Managed 9 full rounds plus 35 additional deadlifts. Love how my body responds to setting my goals - I know I’m so dang competitive so it was easy to crush past 7 rounds I set for myself. #fitasamotherlifestyle#day3#habits#amrap
Thank you @brittanyalexaburns for setting up the challenge 🤗🤗🤗 HABITS
They are awesome! Here are my small but hopefully big changes.
1. Eat veggies with 80% of my meals! 2. Drink a big glass of water before every meal including snacks
3. Eat intentionally - which means slowly
