Yolo week, take one. Honestly, after traveling all day yesterday I got to bed a little after midnight. Then, once I stopped moving and felt the absence of him in the bed, the loss of my dog really started to hit and I'd be hard pressed to say I got more than a hour of sleep. The only thing that got me into the gym was the chance to distract myself, and it did help a bit.

Anyway, front squats up to an ugly 210 and left it there.  Hip thrusts 3x10 at 315 and then a set of 10 at 365 because why not? Also did some pullups, added weight up to the 25 which was a first and neat. No idea how I'm going to get through work today, but here goes.

This is a palloff press, and it is WAY harder than it looks. Keeping my core stable was really difficult. I tried to do it at 20lb, but I was unable to keep proper form, so I dropped it to 10lb. Constructive criticism welcome!!

It builds stability and control, I see many people dive bombing only to get stuck with a long press command due to lack of control. With no leg drive, it forces more mind connection to stay tighter and focus. .

The biggest week of the year for a #powerlifter came and went just like that. I was incredibly nervous for this one, I guess because I had big goals to hit some numbers on the platform that I’d been chasing for a while. —-
All in all it was a successful meet getting a 10kg meet total PR! 132.5kg for a 2.5kg meet PR on my second squat. I tied my best bench in a meet with 67.5kg, and pulled a very exciting 180kg deadlift for a 5kg deadlift PR! —-
I continue to be amazed by and so grateful for the many incredibly strong women that I get to meet and lift along side. The encouragements and genuine joy shared amongst competitors is truly what makes this sport unlike any other! —-
Lastly, a big Thank You to the many friends, teammates, coworkers that sent me notes of encouragement! I’m lucky to have such supportive peeps all around me! 🙏🏻

YASSS! 100kg 2x2 🤗 I was only meant to do one set but I just wanted to see if I could do another 😆 The perfectionist in me thinks the reps could’ve been a bit better, but deadlifts have been absolutely kicking my arse lately & been struggling with a terrible mental block so mentally I just needed these fuckers to go up today! So the music was up loud, necked my first ever can of Monster and off I went & had a little deadlift party in the corner 🤣 
Also did back offs at 80kg, paused at 82.5kg, pull ups +5kg & face pulls 💪🏻.

1RM Cambered Bar Box Squat @ 275lbs. For being emotionally drained just like my bench,though I know I could have hit 300, I didn’t so I don’t really give a shit what I “could” have hit lol. I just love people make a million excuses for their lift. Like what they could or should have changed, what they are blaming, why it shouldn’t been a better number and things should be different. So whatever the fucking circumstances, I hit 275 and that’s the end of it✌🏼😂

bouta be real for a second!! When starting this nutrition/lifting/fitness journey this year I kept calling into question if I was doing it for the right reasons. 
Was I trying to prove something to myself or to other people? 
Take a look at the first picture. I’m making a really fucking stupid face bc I’m scared, I’m exposed, I don’t like the way I look and the way I feel. I was treating my body like shit and looking for things to like about it. Picture number two was me putting on those same exact shorts and not really thinkin much about the picture and just being like lol forgot about these bad boys. 
The comparison is real. I was seriously shutting down on life in the first one and this second one my eyes are open to a whole new life. 
Not just the physical transformation has amazed me but the emotional, spiritual, mental, what have you, transformations are ASTOUNDING when you look at your life and go what the FUCK am I doing? I look back at who I am the beginning/middle of this year and I don’t really wanna slap myself in in face but I definitely deserved it, I wanna hug myself. 
I was beating myself up and putting myself through so much and not really knowing the world of hurt I was about to endure. I went through hell and back and I didn’t just live to tell my story, I lived to make sure it didn’t happen again, and if it did, I’m ready to fight.

If it weren’t for knee niggles from over training who knows where I would be fitness wise today. Back then I was aiming for a 1/2 Marathon and then most likely a full. Now I am aiming for 100kg Bench and one day (hopefully soon) a 400kg plus total.
It’s funny how little set backs can completely redirect your future.

This is one of the major mistakes I’ve been doing with both my sumo and conventional deadlift. In order to be in the most efficient starting position, you need to sit back and keep shoulders over the bar. The bar needs to move in (approximately) a vertical line. Many people are stronger by using the ‘shoulders in front of bar’ (which will more than likely lead to an excessively round back, as with myself) way. However, they’ll never be able to reach their true potential and will probably end up injured at some point. There comes a time that they’ll have to strip the weight down (as I did too) and actually work on the right positioning. Last comment is that many people confuse the Olympic clean with the deadlift. I am SO far behind in @squatoberofficial BUT I'm still doing them in order. This was day 9 last night. I had some errands I had to get done so I did the squats and bb oh press (added bent over row) before peacing out.
This was my 6th (and last) set of 2 at 85%. While the bar itself feels heavy on my back it's actually been moving well and I'm happy about that.
Prior to being pregnant with Gabriella back squats really weren't my fav at all and I'd probably choose anything to do over them, but this has been a nice change. I can't remember the last time I deadlifted heavy. A month ago? Longer?
I was getting incredibly discouraged in my dl numbers and my desire to train was dropping drastically. Deciding to do squatober has rekindled that passion I was seeing start to die. This has been a part of me for an incredibly long time and I'm glad it's coming back to life.
(So sorry I just got all sappy and stuff. LMAO.)
My moral is true though ya'll. Successes come and go. Passion ebs and flows, and as hard as it is to except these things, it's life. Sometimes all you need is  a new direction in the same field to bring you full circle.
Is my squat where I want it to be? Def not. But I'm finally enjoying the journey again.

I haven’t been motivated to train the last few days, so I haven’t. I’ve been off my routine and my back/neck have been jacked up, so I’ve slept in and not gone to the gym.

I didn’t want to go this morning either, but here I am because I can tell a huge difference in my energy level when I don’t train. My body doesn’t feel good, I feel fatigued, and don’t sleep well.

So this is me saying sometimes it’s okay to not train if you feel off, but sometimes you have to kick your own butt and go to the gym because you know you’ll feel better after. #last90days

Failed again. Pulled the weights off, reracked and tried again. Took patience with myself, but I was able to move the weight on the third try.

Fighting for a lift only means you haven’t given up yet.

Switching it up a bit this morning and having a slice of the spiced apple cake for breakfast (the recipe link is in my bio 👆). Cake for breakfast is totally okay and this has almost 6g fibre per slice so will help to keep me full! Ate it with sliced strawberries (on a bit of a strawberry hype at the moment even though it isn't remotely the season for them!) and @nocow vanilla maple fluffbutter. Savouring this stuff as it has been discontinued (still have a couple of jars left thankfully).

W14D1: Not really a good start to this training week. First, I had to use the squat rack I hate! Second, I’m still dealing with the discomfort and now sometimes pain on the left side of my neck into shoulder. I’m really not entirely sure what it is, but after reading more thoroughly on rotator cuff injuries I feel confident it is not that. But I’m going to work on the side of caution and act as if that may be part of my problem. The main discomfort/pain is where the insertion points of the scalenes are into the body of the muscle. I’ve been stretching it, doing some self massage, and am currently icing the area. It did impact my sesh tonight which is very frustrating. But instead of just giving up, I scaled/modified where needed and did what I could. ⁣

I’m hoping with my upcoming massage, we will get this worked out and me back to normal. ⁣

13 years ago, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was quick, and it was ugly. I had an MRI on a Friday in passing, was admitted into the hospital that night. At the time, I knew I was in a lot of pain. And I was getting extremely sick with all the pain. But I did not fully comprehend the severity of the situation. Even though I was told very bluntly by my Neurosurgeon and nurses... “You should not be able to eat, speak, walk... or anything. You should be a vegetable right now.” Along with, “We’re lucky we found it when we did... it had already begun cutting off spinal fluid. You’d have about two more weeks left, until either permanent brain damage or death.” As a snotty teenager, I thought I was invincible. Well, I made it through the tumor AND I made it through the surgery. So, I never put too much more time and thought into it after that. Just over the last couple years have I truly started to understand how lucky I really actually am. And to be able to begin taking up powerlifting on top of all of this, is just mind boggling to me. I’ve recently encountered a few small obstacles with this situation in particular, and that has brought on a decent amount of reflecting. That’s where I recognized how far I’ve actually come. And that I’m capable of things I never thought would be possible. Getting discouraged with bench, to thinking about this.... really starts to put things into perspective.
