Oh bench, you fickle, fickle bitch. A week ago I dead-pressed 4x105/47.7. That was a PR. Two days ago I benched the same thing. Also a PR. Tonight’s dead press at the same weight? I barely got 3 reps. The crazy grind on the 3rd cramped my hammie and then I tried to reset and give the 4th my best shot, but I just didn’t have it in me. I *did* do heavier squats beforehand than either of the other two days, if I wanted to make excuses. But I don’t, not really, because excuses don’t make the weight move. This happens, I know. The overall trajectory is up. I AM getting stronger. Finally hit 95# on bench. Worked up to 3 heavy singles. This is the very last one. I feel like I rushed it a bit but it feels like it’s coming together and things are starting to make sense! I feel pretty good about the way it moved especially after heavy squats last night and being a little under the weather the last week. Powerlifting is such a crazy challenge. People think it’s just moving weight and lifting heavy. It’s sooooo much more. I love the physical part but I REALLY love the mental challenge. August has been a chaotic shit show so far, between Justin coming home, both of us getting sick, Wild fire smoke killing our lungs, and other health issues for me, I’ve been out the gym.
I hit the doctors office today & tomorrow I should be back in the gym, starting out slow & taking my time working up to numbers I want to bring to my meet in October.
I WILL NOT be peaking for this meet. My main focus will be going in and learning how the meets work, how things go & maybeeee attempting a PR on my 3rd attempts. Maybe. Once I know how things roll, then I’ll sign up for a meet to be competitive in next year, since the next local meet is 5 days before I leave on a 2 week vacation 😅

Nearly everything we do in therapy, fitness, and healthcare involves the concept of THRESHOLD.
1. What’s your body’s threshold for the physical stressors of life? That’ll determine your risk for developing injuries and chronic disease
2. What’s your threshold for discomfort? In most cases, that’ll be a big part of how soon you meet your goals.
3. What’s your threshold for commitment? Motivation is fleeting and you have to show up even when you don’t feel like it, if you expect to get results.
To get out of pain, come back from an injury, or just to move better, you have to move your thresholds.
This week, think about what your thresholds are where you have the opportunity to push them.

Just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to all of you. I don’t want to front & any of you think we’ve got this figured out. I’m still trying to be a better husband, friend, CEO, business man... sometimes it feels like I have nothing figured out
But that’s part of the beauty of the unknown. I took this leap of faith into this business wayyyy before I should have on paper but I don’t regret a single second. Just so thankful I have people like you all along for this journey

My @rp_transformations cut photos! These photos are 10 weeks apart (9 weeks of cut and 1 week of maintenance). I lost 12 lbs from 167lbs to 155lbs. My original goal was to hit 155 or so and maintain that for my next meet so I could then water cut to the 148lb class. But I changed my mind and decided to move into an RP muscle gain template. In reality I was self conscious and thought I needed to fit into the 148 class to be happy. But these templates have shown me that your body can do amazing things. And I don’t need to weigh in at 148 to be happy with my body composition. Your body and training is just a reflection of how you treat it.
Week 4 update: last week i was 184.8lbs. This morning i was 184.2lbs. I think that is damn good progress considering I’m still on antibiotics, and the doc had me on a steroid for my sinus infection. I know for certain i am holding onto some water. Took my last dose of steroid yesterday so hopefully my weight levels out. 4 weeks 5.8lbs. Gotta keep trucking
