I‘ve had a super tough week, falling into my own emotional traps and letting my personal triggers dictate my feelings...and they were not happy ones! We all have those things, words, people that set off a cascade of thoughts that you have no power over. It feels like you are a bystander watching your feelings happening without knowing why you can‘t stop them even though you‘ve seen and you know those triggers from a mile away. But sometimes the head can know all it wants and still you have a hard time changing how you feel. Beating yourself up about it obviously does not help, so I‘ve resorted to this: not being so hard on myself. And realizing that everything is work in progress and that‘s ok too. Sending out some love today 💕

Mal wieder einer dieser Tage...manchmal sieht man die rote Flagge schon von Weitem und läuft trotzdem voll rein. So ein Trigger löst dann eine komplett eigenständige super emotionale Reaktion aus, obwohl man sich doch geschworen hatte, einen kühlen Kopf zu bewahren und die Dinge ganz rational zu sehen...der Kopf weiß das, das Herz nicht und schon ist man drin im Gefühlschaos und erkennt sich kaum wieder. Deswegen: einfach mal gut sein lassen, sich nicht noch mehr Druck machen und tief durchatmen. Einfacher gesagt als getan, aber ich arbeite dran 🧘🏻‍♀️

Why this one, if I’m not even deficient in it currently? Because I have been. In 2014 when I was first diagnosed with SIBO, I was so deficient in it that I did weekly B12 injections to my stomach. (Insert sarcasm) It was so much fun that I don’t ever want to have you to go through the same. (My latest testing results showed that I am 14% above average with my B12 stores.)⠀

I always thought rice paper rolls looked incredibly difficult to make but guess what, I was wrong!! It took me half an hour to make around 6 rolls and that was me sorted for three lunches!

I love making little drinks like this when I want something sweet, but also want to convince myself I am having something good for me haha. Turmeric has been found to have great anti inflammatory properties and antioxidant effects when combined with black pepper! 
My recipe below 👇

One serving: • 1/2 tsp Tumeric
• 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
• Pinch of cracked black pepper
• 1 tbsp maple syrup (depending on how sweet you want it) • 1 cup Almond Milk 
Put all ingredients into pot and heat slowly over the stove. Froth up with a little frothed thing (not sure what that's called?!). Sprinkle with a little bit of cinnamon on top 😊👍

Staying healthy doesn't have to be a chore. 
I managed to put this healthy salad together, with just a few ingredients on hand. I tossed in some chick peas for protein, grilled kale and spinach veggie burger, sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, spring greens & gingered carrots for a gut friendly addition.

🐝 It’s essentially food from big bees to nourish young bees. The mixture of pollen is collected by bees as they fly from flower to flower and is considered a “super food” to many because it contains almost every single nutrient vital to human health⠀

🐝This includes folic acid and B-complex vitamins, protein and amino acids. ⠀

🐝 Make sure you stick with local bees to help reduce allergies.

Another day of limited control over my food today & from being super open about my requirements, it went really well (I still get surprised does anyone else?!)... 🍓Brekkie I took myself and was @nutribrex with cinammon & milled seeds, @thatprotein mixed into yog with chia & teff & topped with strawbs & @primroseskitchen granola 🥗Lunch was a delish salmon, mozzarella & egg salad with black rice (I didn’t touch the peas) 🥩🍆For dinner we had street food @flatironsquare where I managed to get a bespoke @savagesalads of steak & halloumi salad with grilled veggies (aub, courgette & peppers) with a small handful of sweet potato fries from one of the girls. Coz a little alcohol needed a little carbs 😋 the savage salad guys were amazing at guiding me through their menu & making up something to suit. 
Don’t be afraid to share your requirements and order off menu when out. I actually find I’m usually the one who people have food envy over with my salads as they tuck into their beige buffet 😋😬☺️

So my first #ABellyFullofFood brekkie event happened today 🙌🏼💋We had a brilliant 30 minutes chatting about what we really mean by ‘gut health’, what the difference is between #IBS, #IBD and #coeliac, how to safely figure out if you have an allergy or intolerance and why it’s SO important to look at where you’re getting your gut health advice. Is the person qualified? Are they being sponsored? Does the brand have a qualified nutritionist on board? This is something I feel SO strongly about and was delighted to have @rhitrition with me to share the talk and impart her evidence based knowledge. So my first #ABellyFullofFood  brekkie event happened today 🙌🏼💋We had a brilliant 30 minutes chatting about what we really mean by ‘gut health’, what the difference is between #IBS , #IBD  and #coeliac , how to safely figure out if you have an allergy or intolerance and why it’s SO important to look at where you’re getting your gut health advice. Happy Taco Tuesday guys! Try these yummy, super easy to make gluten / dairy free lettuce 🌮

I used:
- ground lean chicken
- @fodyfoods’ gut friendly salsa (no gut issues? Use your fave salsa! Low fodmappers, I highly recommend Fody’s)
- Soy Mexican cheese mix from @TraderJoes
- Butter lettuce leaves
- Slice of lime

Sauté chicken + salsa together in a pan.  When chicken is cooked, spoon onto the lettuce leaves, top with cheese, a little lime juice + pop into your mouth! Only takes like 10 mins + you have a delicious, healthy dinner.

Tried this smoothie today n it's so damn delicious, no sugar, dairy free n super yum
1 frozen banana, 1 cup frozen dragon fruit pulp, 1/2 cup mango pulp frozen, 2 tbsp coconut cream, 1 tbsp chia seeds. Blend everything, top it with chopped apples n chia seeds.

Dates are pretty awesome because they’re full of nutrients, minerals, fibre and raw enzymes that are great for us. But,  they’re also really high in natural sugars. When you have gut issues, your digestive system has a hard time breaking these sugars down. Some people with gut issues even have  the inability to metabolise fructose sugar which is called 'fructose malabsorption'. This means that the sugars are left to ferment inside the gut, creating a food source for bad bacteria, parasites and yeasts to feed on. If we keep eating these sugars and not metabolising them properly, then bad bacteria can get out of hand and begin to rapidly overgrow. This can lead to a range of physical and psychological symptoms like; sugar cravings, mood issues like anxiety or depression, digestive issues like gas, cramps, bloating, diarrhoea or constipation, lethargy, skin problems etc. So what can you do? ....try fermenting them. I ferment mine in coconut water kefir for 2days (p.s the recipe is on my website) as the beneficial bacteria in the kefir eats away all the sugar in them, but at the same time it pre-digests them, create beneficial enzymes, creates B Vitamins and increases the bio-availability and preserves the nutrients and minerals in them. I snapped it today after my pre-op appointment with my doctor. "What is that?" It's either a benign tumor or (more likely, given my SIBO history), the IC Valve protruded. The truth is that it has gone down a lot since the end of Rifaximin/Neomycin, which is why we still think it could be IC Valve. I want to share with you a little from my pre-op appointment today (which was also the start to my follow up from many blood tests I had taken awhile ago).

The pre-op (for my Colonoscopy and Endoscopy - this Thursday) itself went great. There are no concerns, which I was confident about. Today was 3 days out from it, and I recorded everything I ate and did via my Stories - you can see it now. ✨

Ok so you’ll be forgiven for thinking I’ve lost it but.. another PB combo happened & it did not disappoint! 
After 2 hours at psycle and 1.5 hour travel home (thanks London overground it should have taken 15 mins😟) I needed a quick refuel with aaaaalll the macros (no no carbs over here, the power of 3!!!) So on the menu was an @thatprotein cacao shake.. sometimes I keep it simple 😋🍫
& on the side.. a whole grain rice cake topped with @fuel10k PB & smoked salmon.. YESSSSSS that’s the new combo & I promise.. it’s UNREAL! The salty salmon & PB, dont knock it until you try it right?! A fridge raid worked immensely in my favour tonight!

It’s okay if you lose your sparkle ✨ As long as when you come back you raise the whole damn fire 🔥 Some words I saw a few weeks ago which have massively stuck with me. I’ve been very quiet on social the past few weeks, as I’ve grappled with big downs with my #Crohns and trying desperately to keep my s**t together. Another reminder that #Insta is nothing more than a highlights reel, and even in the honest moments there is always a spin of positivity. I’ll be honest, I just ran out of positive vibes. That barrel was empty. And sometimes that happens & that’s okay. I just saved the very little that was left for myself only💫 Remember you can always do the same. Social media, whether we know it or not, takes up energy & brain space. I always fall into this trap of feeling incredibly guilty when my stomach is giving me grief 😞 Guilty that I wasn’t as productive as I would have liked. Guilty that I wasted the day. Guilty that I bailed on plans I’d made with people. Guilty that I can’t hide how I feel, so now I’m worrying others. Does anyone else feel the same 🤷🏼‍♀️?

My Messy Bowl of Goodness.
Admittedly I do not have the best presentation skills but I would say nutritionally this dish is pretty flawless, (if like me you’re a yeast free, keto-paleo). .
Ingredients:
• Organic Broccoli Florets 200g.
• 2 Spring Onions.
• 2 Pac Choi.
• Red Cabbage 3.5 oz.
• Grass Fed, Organic Sirloin Steak 88g.
• Organic Raw Coconut oil 5g.
• Marinated Anchovies 20g.
• Handful of Chopped Coriander.
• Broccoli Sprouts 1oz.
• Extra Virgin Olive oil 10ml.
• Brain Octane oil 5ml.
• Turmeric 1/2 tsp.
• 1/2 lemon juice raw.
• Cayenne Pepper 1g.
• Black Pepper 1g.
.
Method: steamed all the veggies, always run under cold water when finished. Put a rosemary sprig with coconut oil in a frying pan on low heat to cook the meat. For the dressing mixed the brain octane oil, olive oil, turmeric, cayenne, black pepper, lemon juice and salt and poured over. Easy peasy.

Good gut health wasn’t something I valued until I didn’t have it anymore 🤦🏼‍♀️ (Hello, I’m Becky by the way - a food and gut health blogger! 👋🏻) I’ve had IBS for 9 years and I’ve been trying to get my gut health back on track ever since. After removing all the foods IBS made me intolerant to, I initially felt better - but after a few years, my health seemed to go downhill. Has anyone else had a similar experience 🤷🏼‍♀️??

By avoiding all the foods that didn’t agree with me, I was restricting my diet massively and I became deficient in a lot of things 😞 Something I really struggled to tolerate was prebiotic fibre (like in garlic and onions) so I felt forced to cut them from my diet. But prebiotic fibre is sooo important for good gut health! Does anyone else here struggle with onion and garlic? 🤔 Fortunately, there is another way to get prebiotic fibre into your diet...

I discovered that @nairnsoatcakes are a great source of prebiotic fibre too and I could tolerate them a-ok. Result! 👌🏻 It turns out that a little prebiotic fibre went a long way in sorting out my own gut health 🙌🏻 So before you start taking away foods from your diet, I’d defo recommend taking to a nutritionist first as your gut health can be a delicate balancing act 💕 Thanks so much for joining me in my takeover of Nairn’s Insta today the - it’s been so much fun! The dreamiest start to my week taking mum here to sit in the prettiest surroundings eating a biggggg bowl of dairy free porridge topped with banana, rasp, bloobs & cacao nibs (I also added some @tiptreephotos marmalade after) 
Mum had blueberries pancakes & honey (🚩not low FODMAP or GF/DF)
This place is super accommodating to gluten & dairy intolerances & generally fab service. They did forget my porridge which they voluntarily removed along with the service charge from the bill which was a nice surprise... I’m all for honest reviews!
Such a gorgeous place if you are in central London! Mum wouldn’t have a picture with me but I couldn’t resist a good flower wall 😂🙈💙🧡💛

I have been using Amandean's Marine Collagen for a year and In all honesty, was relatively skeptical starting out. I am a competitive adult athlete and was dealing with yet another soft tissue injury (meniscus this time). Trying to avoid surgery as doing every natural antidotal therapy possible. My knee got considerably better in a few months but much to my surprise everyone was asking me what I was doing with my skincare and many of my close friends were sure I had had some “work” done!! Needless to say I have referred several people to this product and they too now are devotees. Aside from the bonus benefit of smooth and lifted skin and strong nails, my bustline took a turn against gravity! These may look a bit boring, but trust me, they are DELICIOUS! if you ever crave carrot cake, then you need this recipe.

🍰 Carrot & Lemon Muffins:
250 ml grated carrots (don’t need to peel them)
250 ml buckwheat flour
3 tbsp coconut sugar
1 organic egg
1 lemon
2 tbsp melted coconut oil
½ tsp real vanilla bean powder
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp baking soda
6 drops lemon essential oil (omit if you don’t have any on hand, but this really enhances the taste of these)

Put oven on 180 degrees Celsius.
Whisk egg and add grated carrots, lemon juice + lemon essential oil, coconut sugar and melted coconut oil. Whisk again. Then use a spatula to mix in buckwheat flour, baking soda, vanillabean powder and cinnamon. Using a tablespoon; put batter into about 6 small muffin forms. Bake in oven for 15-20 minutes.

For years, I used my busy lifestyle as an excuse for not putting more effort into looking after my gut health 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’d eat convenience food, skip breakfast and be generally stressed out 99% of the time. That’s why I created my gut friendly yoghurt pots - they’re full of prebiotics and probiotics which are soooo important for good gut health 💕 You can easily take them to work with you so there’s no excuse for neglecting your gut health now 😁 (I’m still working on managing my stress however so any tips are much appreciated!)
