Uni starts back up again on Monday so I’m prepping some bone broth to enjoy next week (makes for such good #brainfood, #gutfood and #adrenalfood 🍵). Using some organic free range chicken bones, veggie scraps I’ve saved up over the past week (I just keep them in the freezer until I need them), a whole leek (green leafy bits and all) and a couple of carrots. I’ll also add some fennel seeds (for #digestion) and a good pinch each of Himalayan salt and whole peppercorns. Into the slow cooker they’ll go for about 24 hours, and tomorrow I’ll have some liquid gold to freeze and store ❤️.

The chef made me a gorgeous grilled white fish, roasted vegetables and my ultimate fav grilled pineapple 🍍 
It hasn’t been easy getting it right everyday food wise (trust me 🙈) however when it has been right, it’s been good 👌🏻

👊🏻Eggs have been my best friends on this gut healing journey, because my body has needed nutrient dense food that is easy to prepare and doesn’t wreak havoc on my stomach. So thank you chickens for your service to my gut. Seriously. Thank you.

🍳Ovenbaked Potato & Spinach Shakshuka:
5 potatoes
A bag of baby spinach
1 1/2 tsp 7 spice
1 tsp smoked paprika powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
3-4 organic eggs
1 tbsp olive oil
.
👩🏻‍🍳 Put oven on 200 degrees Celsius. Peel and cut potatoes into fairly small pieces. Place in a bowl and add spices + salt + olive oil. Mix and place in an ovenproof dish. Bake in oven for 20 minutes or until cooked through and slightly crispy. Fry spinach in frying pain with olive oil and salt to taste until wilted. Once potatoes are ready; remove dish from oven, add spinach and mix. Make 3-4 small holes and crack eggs in each hole. Salt to taste and place oven dish back in the oven for 10-15 minutes.

You guys... I made Chocolate Coated Caramel Swirl Cheesecake Bites! 🙌🏻 Hands up if you want one 🙌🏻. But seriously, is this a recipe I should remake and share with you? For the caramel, I’ve used fermented dates so it’s #sugarfree (recipe already on my website) to create a super delish caramel-y date sauce and I then swirled it through a gut friendly chocolate cheesecake filling, froze it, then chopped into squares and drizzled melted choccy on top! Dairy / Milk is *not* paleo, but speaking in terms of #ancestraleating for me as an Arab 🇦🇪, I prefer this #superfood (camel milk if you’re slow here) over any nut mylk🥛 and drink a cup daily with matcha, black tea, or my adaptogenic brew of the day. 🍵 ☕️
Also, camels are technically not ruminants , which cows/sheep/goats are. So categorizing their milk under the dairy we know is already questionable.

#CamelMilk is an interesting one. Unlike other milk options, camel milk is actually #gutfriendly and #antiinflammatory. It barely has any lactose or other inflammatory elements associated with drinking cow milk.

It has all essential amino acids to make a complete protein source and in higher quantity than cow milk, while also uniquely being high in vitamin C! Which lends to its slight sourness. It’s also high in vitamins and minerals, and has been a whole food that nomadic tribes across Africa and the Middle East almost exclusively lived off of for years along with camel meat which was more for ceremonies and special occasions as camels are prized over ruminants (to this day).

While cow milk is often associated with allergies, camel milk actually does the opposite with being highly suggested for people with #allergies.

I absolute love baking for my kids when fall is in the air! 🍂🍁 🍃 The delicious aroma of freshly baked banana nut muffins are one of my family’s favorite treats this time of year (and it’s a great way to use overripe bananas.)😋
I made some yummy (healthy) gluten-free banana nut muffins today. They turned out awesome! Moist, flaky, and delicious! And best of all, the ingredients are gut friendly! 😍 . . .

Gluten-free Banana Nut Muffins
•
Dry ingredients: 🍌 1 1/2 (to 2) cups oat flour (gluten-free)
🍌 3 T almond flour
🍌 3 T coconut flour 🍌 2T ground chia seeds (or ground flax seed)
🍌 1/3 cup organic cane sugar (or honey)
🍌 1 tsp baking powder 🍌 1/2 tsp baking soda
🍌 1/4 tsp sea salt
🍌 1/2 tsp each: cinnamon, nutmeg, & allspice
🍌 1 T walnuts 
Wet ingredients:
🍌 3 overripe bananas
🍌 1/2 cup apple sauce 🍌 2 organic eggs (or flax egg)
🍌 1/3 cup pure maple syrup 🍌 1 tsp vanilla 🍌 1/3 cup melted coconut oil 🍌 2 T almond milk 🍌 Enjoy Life mini dark chocolate chips (optional) . . .
1.  Peel bananas in a mixing bowl and smash well. 
2. Add wet ingredients one at a time and mix well. 
3. Pour dry ingredients and walnuts into a blender — blend until the oats are the consistency you prefer. 
4. Pour dry ingredients into the wet ingredients mixing bowl. Mix well. 
5. Place muffin liners in muffin tin baking sheet and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Fill each cup 2/3 full. Sprinkle with desired chocolate chips. 
6. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 23 minutes. 
7. Remove from oven and let cool before serving. Enjoy! ☺️
* Store in refrigerator I am airlock container for up to three days (if they lasts that long!)

I call bs.

BS to this whole greedy, selfish, vain, unloving, unkind money-making industry where if everything was really THAT SIMPLE it would have all worked by now and there would be NO MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS OR FEAR AROUND WEIGHT BECAUSE WE WOULD ALL BE CURED BY THE "FAB" DIET CULTURE AND WELLNESS LIFESTYLE.

If we could go ahead and take slim, fit and toned bodies off the pedestal (you can't miss them, they are right up there next to kale), and just replace it with "human being who is happy, confident and loves themselves and others" then maybe our priorities in this world could start making us feel better.

Maybe we could exist in our bodies, without fear or insecurity that we aren't enough, and just enjoy ourselves.

And all of our actions could stem out of that place, instead of a place of "Man, I hate myself".

Gently spiced, buttery lentils. Perfect for Tuesday eve supper - so comforting, simple, gut-friendly. Fry onion in butter or coconut oil with ginger, garlic, chilli. Add some turmeric/Kashmiri/cumin/coriander and split red lentils, coconut milk and some water (I’m not sure how much, use your 👀 ). cook till squidgy. Season with lemon, salt and more butter and settle in. Fab with garlicky spinach, toasted seeds or roasted aubergine etc

burger & chips 🤤🤤 You all voted for this one, so here you are 😊😋 This was actually jaw drooling delicious 🤣
Made from all good quality non processed ingredients, making it easy for that belly to digest. With that being said everyone has different sensitivities but you can personalize this burger to suit yourself. The main ingredients should be pretty gut friendly for most. You all know I'm obsessed with gut health because seriously it's related to just about everything in the body. It makes up about 70 percent of your immune system & it is your second brain. If you are having brain fog, it could be related to your gut health. 
With any symptom or problem that is showing externally I dont like to just fix the  external problem, I like to get to the root cause which always leads me to my overall gut health. Fix yourself from the inside out. Take good care of your gut pals, I promise it makes such a difference 💗

Recipe: 🔸️A package of ground turkey
🔸️homemade or good quality paleo/gluten free buns (I purchased a pack from a local health store for this recipe) 🔸️toppings (I used kale, guacamole, dijon mustard & mushrooms) 🔸️1 medium sweet potato 🔸️ good quality oil (I used avocado & coconut oil) 
Mix ground Turkey with desired spices such as sea salt, tumeric, ginger, pepper, paprika, chili flakes etc. Split into patties of desired size. Grill or fry patties in coconut oil. Toast bun & add toppings + patty. For the sweet potato chips, chop into wedge fries (can leave peel on if preferred). Mix wedges in coconut & avocado oil, add sea salt, cinnamon & paprika. Fry in a pan for 5 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 20-30 minutes depending on size.

4 tbsp organic mayo (preferably one without soy oil)
1/2 tsp smoked paprika powder
2 drops dōTERRA lime oil or lime juice

• 125g peanut butter
• 90g oats
• 50g grated dark chocolate • 50ml maple syrup
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 30g macadamia nuts

1- 1 1/2 tsp organic matcha powder
1/2 -1 tsp vanilla
Optional Add Ins; quality food-grade peppermint or basil or lemon or lime essential oil (for something a little different) to taste, 1/2- 1 tsp spirulina powder 
METHOD
1. To a small saucepan, add the gelatin, water and matcha powder together using a spoon to create a paste. Set this aside for a minute or two as it will allow the gelatin to bloom and thicken. 
2. Now add the remaining ingredients to the saucepan and heat it on low-medium heat until the gelatin has dissolved, it should only take a minute or two for the gelatin to dissolve completely. Make sure all the ingredients are evenly combined.
3. Taste the mixture and adjust any of the flavours or sweetness to your own tastebuds. 
4. Then pour the mixture into a glass jar or mug and place it in the fridge to set. 
5. It should take 2.5-3.5 hours for the panna cotta to set.
6. When it's ready, grab a spoon and enjoy every silky smooth mouthful.
