I am not messing around tonight. This giant #turkeyburger was insane.
7 oz #jennieo lean turkey (7)
2 toasted slices of Nature’s Harvest bread (2)
1 thin slice Sargento provolone cheese (1)
And 0 points worth of ketchup and mayo.
Oh, and there was broccoli there too, I guess.
H.O.L.Y. yum 😍 Dinner on the go doesn’t have to be boring 💁🏻♀️ Lean ground turkey with taco seasoning, avocado, sweet corn, black beans and spicy salsa over brown rice! Higher in calories than my other meals (680) but I’m still under my allowed intake for the day! #winning
Spaghetti with homemade marinara and ground turkey breast. It was deeelish! But once again the bread stood center stage. I took my biscuit recipe and added 1/2 cup Frigo shredded Parmesan and 1/4 tsp garlic powder. To the melted butter I added a few pinches of dried parsley and 1/8-ish tsp garlic powder. I didn’t bother cutting my biscuits out today. I just cut the block of dough into squares. I couldn’t find my notes for my usual marinara. Didn’t have San Marzanos at the house right now anyway. So I just flew by the seat of my pants for this batch tonight ... now I’m sorry I didn’t take notes. I used fresh herbs from the garden and that’s probs what makes me happy with this batch. I used Ronzoni Smart Pasta noodles.

I love ground turkey, and I know it has more fat and calories than ground turkey breast, so I was shocked to learn that the difference between the two is 200 calories for 16 ounces. If I eat ground turkey at every meal, which I sometimes do, I’m going over my calorie budget by at least 200 calories. Even though 200 calories is not a lot, that would be one explanation for not being able to lose bodyfat.
Calories add up fast, and those small additions are typically the reason the weight won’t come off, or why people continue to gain weight. More protein intake can mean more bodyfat because excess calories turn into fat. Choose lean proteins every time, and weigh and/or measure all your food. In general women should aim for 3 ounces of lean protein with every meal (but most people eat much more), and men should have a goal of 4 ounces of lean protein with every meal. Protein comes in many forms, like grains, nuts, seeds, and beans so keep that in mind too.

Growing up, both of my twin 👵🏽 Masaní’s cooked cabbage with every meal. Dennehotso Boarding School kitchen is where I spent a lot of my childhood. 1 twin sister worked there, while the other twin sister (shí masaní) managed the Girls Dormitory Wing. Meanwhile, I jus tried to make friends & got lice jus like that CardiB meme. 🤣🤣 Now, fast forward 27 years — both my twin Masaní’s are retired from working BIA. I can’t wait until we go home & be with my rowdy twin grandmas. I find myself always looking for that feeling of home security & nourishment the way I was taken care of by twin Masaní’s. I have such a Masaní soul.... 😭
For those of you who saw my story, you may have noticed that I got a new phone. My old Xiaomi 5S was dying so I upgraded to a OnePlus 6. Tested it on the ground turkey stir fry I made yesterday, how amazing is this camera quality?? Really hope I'm not the only one who sees the difference between this photo and my normal shots! Anyway recipe below 😛
REICPE: Ground Turkey Stir Fry
Extra lean ground turkey (two packs from Provigo)
Half an onion
3 cloves garlic
Handful of spinach
Three carrots (small ones)
1 can corn
1 big tsp tomato paste
Garlic powder (few shakes)
Cumin powder (few shakes)
Chilli peppers flakes
Maggi sauce (few drops)
1. Dice onion and minced garlic. Heat up some oil in a wok or large skillet and cook till fragrant.
2. Peel carrots and julienne thinly. Put in with onions and cook.
3. Add turkey and break apart with spatula. While turkey cooks, dice spinach and open the canned corn.
4. When turkey is cooked add spinach and corn. Then, add everything else (all the sauce and seasonings).
5. Cook til everything is evenly distributed.
6. Enjoy 😊
