Lewis Hamilton takes the first position at Hokenheimring! Even after a rainy and exciting qualifying where Hamilton lost out due to hydraulic problem, he made it up in the final race to take a first! It was impressive as Lewis started at the end, but by lap 11 he was already 6th! Bottas was second, making it a double win for Mercedes at their rival's base! Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen finished third, while his teammate Sebastian Vettel, the home hero, crashed into the barrier at lap 52, a heartbreaking stop to the German leader's race. Max Verstappen came 4th, the Red Bull wasn't as strong on the tyre strategy as Mercedes was. His teammate Ricciardo could not finish due to losing power. Quite the bad luck for the Aussie, it's the 4th of the season's races he's retired. Nico Hulkenberg took a superb 5th, amidst his cheering home fans. He was quite consistent the entire race. Romain Grosjean came next followed by Force India's Sergio Perez, teammate Esteban Ocon, Ericsson and Brendon Hartley. Owing to the rain starting around lap 44, Charles Leclerc slipped and missed out on his points.
It was a brilliant race for Hamilton, starting from 14th on the grid and finishing 1st! Although he had to wait almost an hour after the race after the enquiry with the stewards. It was a tiny second late brake that lost Vettel's chance to win the race, that too towards the end of the race.
Safe to say, what a turbulent and unexpected race!
