Have you ever heard someone say, “I’m just not motivated to X.”
When X represents something we need to be doing in our life and business, it might sound a little like this;
👉🏼 “I’m just not motivated to work out.”
👉🏼 “I’m just not motivated to make a sales call.”
👉🏼“I’m just not motivated to do my bookkeeping.”
👉🏼 “I’m just not motivated to [fill in the blank].” You get the idea, right.
Have you ever said any of those? Full disclosure, I have.
Here’s the deal... when we wait to feel motivated we are just fucking our selves over. Because... simply put when we delay the activity by default we are delaying the result. Period.
Feelings of motivation rarely come before action. Act first, motivation follows.
What ever you want more of in life - more customers, more revenue, more profit, better relationships, better health... etc... know this, “Discipline = Freedom”
So. How do we fix’s this behaviour? Implement a MRE (Minimum Required Effort). Here’s what it looks like in action;
First, know that I don’t always feel motivated to exercise when I first wake up. So, when my alarm goes off in the morning I get up (no hitting the snooze button), get dressed and head outside for my morning walk/jog. My MRE is 5 blocks... if after 5 blocks I’m just not feeling it, I can go home... but that almost never happens... 5 blocks always turns into more... #
What’s something you’re not motivated to do? What is an MRE that you can implement? Do that. And day by day you’ll begging to see progress and build momentum. I promise.
STRUGGLE (Long post, read for some motivation!) Have a great Sunday!
I started this journey because I got so SICK of being that small athlete on the field. And what’s funny is that I knew I’d never play again! But there’s a drive that all athletes & former athletes have that needs to be satisfied by hard work.
Everything I’ve done on this journey I’ve had questioned. “Why do you broadcast it? Why did you start a brand when you don’t look the part? Your brand isn’t really different from theirs is it? Do you really think you’re gonna gain all your weight back? You really think you’re gonna be a successful business owner?”
Everything I’ve done with this account, the @5twentyfoursports account, my body, & my spirit have all been to BETTER myself. And let me tell you, it’s PAINFUL. I want to grow in a way I haven’t before. I want to show THE WORLD that all of us “little guys” have that same drive that the strongest people do. I let people see my story not just for networking, but for MINISTRY & MOTIVATION! I never know who’s gonna need what God’s gonna day through me. But I’m called to STEP UP.
So I challenge you, reach out. Connect. Ask me about my story. OR, tell me yours. Help that little guy out. Because if it wasn’t for connections given to me from God, I wouldn’t have had the heart, strength, BOLDNES5, whatever you wanna call it, to do what I do now.
If you read this, thank you. You’re the first to know that we’re about to make a statement. And it’s gonna set off some fireworks 😎
IT FUCKING HITS YOU HARD WHEN YOU REALIZE YOU ARE HALF ASSING YOUR LIFE. HALF ASSING MY EATING. HALF ASSING MY WORKOUTS. HALF ASSING MY WORK. HALF ASSING THE GRATITUDE THAT I HAVE FOR EVERYONE AROUND ME. On Friday, it took a group of people to laugh in my face to make me realize I need a CHANGE. I need to stop selling myself short and saying I will do something and then HALF ASS IT. Guys September has not been my month. I have had multiple of diagnosis of what’s going on with my body and what the hell is anxiety and why is it so debilitating. But I’m sick of letting all the shit that has happened to me weigh down on my happiness. Because guess what?! I may be going to see a therapist to help, I may be talking about it or “working out” but am I ACTIVELY DOING SOMETHING TO CHANGE MY MINDSET??? No, I’m not. I’m frustrated with myself for letting myself go on this long with my binge eating, half ass workouts, shitty homework and my willingness to just give up. But let me tell you and myself something: it’s never too late. Ever. On Monday I will be starting my HAPPINESS “cut.” Thank you to everyone who has knocked me over because guess what? I’ve bounced back before and I think it’s about that time 😈
Great groups of kids today and everyday this week! .
Players: How much better can you get every day, every week, every month, every season, every year? “If you are not improving you are falling behind”
Keep up the great work GRITfam and everyone out there putting in work consistently!! .

I may be standing up, but that doesn’t mean I’m not dying from that workout. I’m a firm believer that weak minds avoid hard work. I’ve always refused to be out performed. I’m not the best - I won’t even pretend that I’m close. But one thing I do know is that I’ll never be out-worked. I’m cool with coming in last place as long as I know that I had nothing left to give by the end. #iam1stphorm#amputee#crossfit#adaptiveathlete#legionofboom#dbap#grit
Yesterday marked the Autumnal equinox and tomorrow is the Harvest full moon. A time of shift and change and transformation. Darkness is coming. Now is a time to take a deeper look into ourselves. Where are we ready to change? What do we want to manifest? And what must we let go of to open ourselves to receive growth in our lives.
We have two opportunities for you to show up.
6am classes with @alliepatricia517 begin tomorrow morning and will continue each Monday and Wednesday going forward.
@cosmicpisces and @liligahagan are leading a conscious living cleanse spanning 4 weeks during the month of October.
Two powerful opportunities to step into your light as we shift into the dark. We hope to see you there.
Can I get this printed on a shirt? I cannot stress how truthful this quote is. Imagine that degree you could have gotten, that career you could have secured, that business you could have started, that investment portfolio you could have built, or that savings account you could be using a portion to travel the world.
To secure the future you desire, you must think ahead. Determine your end goal and outline what you need to do to get there. Make sure you set timelines (realistic) so that you’ll meet different milestones.
What are you waiting for? Start now!

Soooo! A few weeks ago I was social surfing on IG and found one of my favorite chip companies (@billygoatchips) hadn’t been active or engaging on social. I do marketing and communications so I decided to do what I’m calling a “Brand Hack”. I created an alternative page (@billygoatstl) and we started to pick up a lot of traction from local St. Louis foodies and chefs. The company still had no idea that I was the one behind the brand and helping them to come up with new business! Eventually, after a really cool idea I had for a collaboration, I reached out to them and they had me go to their offices/warehouse. When I got there, they let me know how they LOVED the ideas, love the new brand, and want to purchase the account, hire our team to manage it, and to help produce more campaigns! Lol so anyway, I today our first collab goes live with @tipsygoatstl featuring the #TipsyBilly at @2ndshiftbrewing! Oh, and we have more collabs to go! 😆
1. people told me I’d probably get sued - don’t let people discourage you. Maybe they could’ve been right but this time they weren’t.
2. Be willing to do work, on your own terms, without getting paid. Prove what you can do when you have complete creative freedom and when you get a new client, they’re hiring you for your ideas.
3. If you see something you don’t like, fix it.
4. It’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission, sometimes. •
Stay tuned for some more @madebycreo projects! We’re just getting started 🤩🙌🏾🖖🏾🤘🏾
1. Being sick is the worstttttt. I cannot remember the last time I was sick for a week, but holy hell I hope this is it for a while.
2. I'm so ready to get back to the gym. I got one solid lift on Thursday but that's the extent of it for this week. Hoping tomorrow I can get back to the grind.
3. I'm super thankful for my boo and family. It's been a shitty week between being sick and losing my car (😭.) Their support has made it all so much more bearable.
4. I'm really proud of myself for sticking to my routine aside from getting to the gym. I'm taking my vitamins, greens, sleeping a lot, and staying on track with eats.
5. I hope you all have had a great weekend and are ready for the week ahead 🖤🤘🏻
Just one of the many inspiring individuals we get to work with through our QLI partership. 💛 Please watch Bob’s story unfold by clicking the link in our bio 🆙 You are amazing Bob!
What is the definition of grit?
Bob Gardiner was everything a 51-year-old should be–happy, healthy. A successful businessman, a loving husband, a devoted father. He ran for miles each day, was a proud football season ticket-holder for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and valued the opportunity to travel the country with his wife and children.
That life changed after a rapid onset of Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare and devastating neurological disorder in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks its own nervous system, resulting in widespread and, in Bob’s case, complete paralysis throughout the body below the shoulders. The disorder has no known cause, no obvious trigger.
Bob began receiving treatment from QLI’s inpatient rehabilitation team in November 2017. He returned to his Omaha home the following spring, boasting huge physical improvements thanks to intensive physical and occupational therapy to recover the impaired function in his upper body, as well as regular gait training designed to hone his ability to walk. Bob is still an active participant in adaptive sports, and, at the time of this writing, has begun training as part of QLI’s Adaptive Functional Fitness program. Bob, we admire you. #grit#relentless#unrivaled#omaha#omahanebraska#rehabilitation#guillainbarresyndrome#adaptiveathlete#hardworker#putinyourall#adaptivesports#familyman
You can't determine your genetics, but you are 100% in control of your work ethic @flat_whites_free_weights
The above post is inspired by @mcdonaldlyle who wrote several articles on this topic (check bodyrecomposition.com to read them).
My take on things is that talent is overrated in many aspects of life, but when it comes to muscle building you cannot deny that some people are just more gifted than others. Is this fair? No! Is it outside of your control? Yes! So, focus on what you can control. •
What are the 4 types?
🐎 = the perfect combination of genetics and work ethic
🦄 = bags of talent, but little work ethic. These would be flat track bullies if they played cricket. Good when the going is easy. Nowhere to be seen when the hard work is needed. • 🐴 = the workhorse has less than stellar genetics, but a relentless work ethic. They make up some of their lack of talent through grit. This compensation takes them a long way, but not to the elite. • 😴🐪(no donkey emoji, but if figure you get what I mean). The last one is those that lack talent or work ethic. They might talk a good game, but this is not backed up by either talent or hard work. The worst combo as far as progress goes. •
Long story short, you might not be able to be a #thoroughbred , but you can, at the very least, be a #workhorse . •
Never be a #primadonna or a #alwaysgonna . •
