Green Soup 💚
Green soup! Partly as I had lots of veggies that needed using up, partly because I’ve not eaten enough greens over the last week. I need a boost before Christmas . I think I put in, onion, peppers, potatoes, green lentils, courgette, aubergine, a bag of kale #greensoup#fiveaday#nutrientboost
Green eyed monster soup. I have always given my soups names for the kids, to encourage them to eat their veggies. Generally however they have been pretty good eaters, and as teenagers, they eat anything. I make soup at least twice a week. Why?
🥦 Because it guarantees their veggie intake daily
🥦 It is a ready snack for when they come in from school, or are hungry later on
🥦 It's is so easy, and cheap to prepare
🥦 Can make something outta nothing with soup
🥦 Provides both soluble, and insoluble fibre
🥦Provides essential vitamins and minerals
🥦 It freezes well, and handy as a ' ready meal' when struggling for time.
🥦 Helps reduce food waste

I am sure we have all experienced the phenomena of getting sick once our holidays start. As women we learn to keep going, to stay strong!
I have many times had sickness bugs run through my children and not got sick myself.
As women we have the capacity to cultivate a very strong nervous system. 💪🏻
However it is important that we support ourselves and this is the time of year when we can need a little extra support.
Graceful Women are big believers in an alkalised, mainly green and fresh vegetable based diet.
Personally I am an advocate for Yogi Bhajan’s advice for women to enjoy two meals a day and two light drinks.
Whilst we need to be careful with smoothies that we are not putting out the digestive fire with freezing cold drinks if we prepare a smoothie with fresh fruit it can be a digestible way to boost your immune system and get your day started with a jump in your step.
This is a recipe my daughter @crazydaisy_2003 has created which is particularly delicious...🥥🍌🍍🍊🥒
1 cup of Mango
1 cup of spinach
2-3 cups of coconut water (you could use almond milk)

Don’t let this cleansing detox soup fool you. It is so delicious and bursting with flavor. I added roughly chopped onion, fennel, leek and garlic to a pot with some olive oil and sautéed for about 5 minutes. I then added chicken bone broth, spinach, lemon juice, rosemary, thyme, broccoli and kale and brought it to a boil. I let it simmer for 3 minutes and the scooped it into my blender and blended until smooth( you can use an immersion blender if you have). This is a perfect soup to have around the holidays to get your green veggies in! Enjoy 🌱
Post-OP all the greens detox soup.
My dad has just had a knee replacement so this is especially for him. There are lots of greens in there which are great for helping the liver to detox all the medications he is having to take. When he first came home we made him some Punjabi saag which is also made of greens which would have been great for getting the anaesthetic out of his system. I added peas for protein as for older people if there are not exercising they start to get sarcopenia which is age related loss of muscle so it’s important to keep active and also eat protein which can be challenging for older people as stomach acid starts to naturally decline which is needed to break down foods. I also added turmeric for its anti inflammatory, anti bacterial, anti septic and other amazing properties.
I have also prescribed dad some supplements to aid recovery which can all be gotten through foods but at the moment his needs exceed what he is able to therapeutically achieve through eating foods:
Omega 3 and Curcumin-highly anti inflammatory
Probiotic -conventional medications can have some pretty detrimental effects on our Gut microbiota so it needs to be supported ***Disclaimer - do not take supplements without talking to a Nutritional Therapist or your doctor/pharmacist first**** #nutritionaltherapy#nutritionist#foodasmedicine#greensoup#detoxsoup#eatyourgreens#thealternativepharmacist

A delicious impromptu dinner tonight after I discovered my planned meal wouldn’t be ready in time - bone broth puréed with spinach, cilantro, and turmeric and then topped with chicken and broccoli sprouts. Thanks to @mickeytrescott for the inspiration! #aipmeals#bonebrothheals#greensoup#autoimmuneprotocol
Been a super carby week so wanted to get some greens into my bod. Made this soup super fast and it’s bangin. Brocolli spinach onion and garlic blended with lemon zest and a touch of sour cream and smoked paprika. Topped it with some chopped almonds for crunch and fried onions bc I’m fat (and sourdough because carbs)
