Inktober (late!) Day 19 🧚♀️Psyche🧚♀️ "The goddess Psyche started out as a mortal, but one of exquisite grace and beauty. Fervently courted by numerous mortal men and gods, Psyche truly wasn't interested in romance and she wasn't just playing hard to get! This offended Aphrodite, the goddess of love, who decided to bring Psyche down a notch by sending her son Eros, the god of love, to shoot her with one of his magical arrows tipped in an aphrodisiac that would make her fall hopelessly in love with the first man she saw, no matter how wretched, unsuitable, or unappealing he might be.
But as the Fates (the Greek goddesses responsible for luck and destiny) would have it, just as Eros had Psyche lined up in his sights, Eros stumbled and accidentally pricked himself with the arrow and fell madly in love with Psyche himself.
Reluctant to face mama with the news of what had happened, Eros whisked Psyche off to his palatial hideaway in the mountains for a quick wedding and lengthy honeymoon. Afraid that he might be recognized and word of his bumbling might get back to Aphrodite, Eros visited Psyche only after dark and made her swear she would never look at him. She was beginning to love him deeply and growing more curious each day about her beloved's features. Psyche decided to take just a quick peek while he lay sleeping, but a drop of hot oil from her lamp accidentally spilled on his shoulder, waking him . . . but not before she saw that he was more beautiful than any many she'd ever imagined." #inktober#intober2018#inktober2k18#facesanddolls#greekgoddessfeast#greekgoddess#greek#myart#mythology#greekmyths#ink#watercolor#colors#pysche#myart#myths
Inktober (late!) Day 18: 🏹Artemis, Goddess of The Hunt🏹 "Artemis is the Olympian goddess of the hunt, the moon, and chastity; in time, she also became associated with childbirth and nature. No more than few days old, she helped her mother Leto give birth to her twin brother Apollo. Artemis was very protective of her and her priestesses’ innocence. Consequently, she wasn’t very nice when some of them weren’t so careful. Artemis is the daughter of Zeus and Leto, herself a daughter of the Titans Coeus and Phoebe. Angered by her husband’s infidelity, Hera hunted Leto over the whole planet and forbade her to give birth anywhere on solid earth. However, Leto got to the island of Delos and gave birth to Artemis while balancing herself on an olive branch.
When Hera heard this, she prohibited her daughter Eileithyia, the goddess of childbirth, of further helping Leto. This postponed the birth of Apollo for nine days. And who knows how much more time it would have passed if the baby Artemis hadn’t miraculously learned the art of midwifery and helped Leto finally deliver her brother. When Artemis was still a little maid, she asked from her father Zeus to keep her maidenhood forever. So – just like Athena and Hestia – she remained chaste for eternity. And she guarded this vow even more vigorously than them.
Many tried to rape Artemis; none of them lived to tell. The most famous story involves Orion, a long-time hunting companion of hers. In fact, he may as well have been Artemis’ only love interest. However, when he tried taking off Artemis’ robe, the goddess killed him. Artemis didn’t only take care of her own purity; she also defended the innocence of her worshippers. And was merciless if any one of her priestesses ever lost it." #inktober#intober2018#inktober2k18#facesanddolls#greekgoddessfeast#greekgoddess#greek#myart#mythology#greekmyths#ink#watercolor#colors#artemis
The Winged Victory of Samothrace depicts the goddess Nike—goddess of victory—as she lands upon the prow of a ship in battle. Though the fierce winds and waves threaten to overcome her, she remains steady as her touch guarantees victory. The statue itself required extensive repairs, and many parts remain broken and missing. Yet the power and peerless mastery of the piece remain, not in spite of the damage but because of it. To me the statue reminds me of 1) the strength of women throughout history. Voices may try to break us, the scars remain, but we are as Nike, victorious and immoveable. And 2) Men and women, whatever your personal battle may be, however broken you may be as the winds assail you, maintain your courage and know that you have already won your fiercest battles.
Today I visited the sacred Palace of Knossos and the museum where an original sculpture of the Minoan snake goddess can be viewed. It was an amazing experience that touched me deeply! So what better time to share this drawing that I created for the Womb Awakening book by Seren and Azra Bertrand.
Have you connected with the Minoans or been to any sacred sites on Crete?
Meditate, exercise ....who’s got time for that?! Over the past couple of years as I have been working on inner healing and health, I have allowed my exercise routine to take a back seat, which has taken a bit of a toll. Clothes not fitting properly is one thing, clothes not fitting at all calls for some intervention 😱
I did not want to give up my meditation because never have I felt healthier (can’t remember the last time I was sick) but sitting every morning or evening was not healing(helping) my waistline (or lack thereof - what waistline?👻) Well my friends, I have discovered the perfect balance that not only keeps my inner self happy but also allows me to feel good about my appearance ... life is all about balance after all and the Libra energy has finally helped me to get here.
I have found a routine that satisfies both my physical AND spiritual workouts for total balance of #mindbodysoul . Whenever I go for my run, I take along a crystal to keep me focused on my intention with every step and every breath. Today I held Selenite in each hand to help clear and cleanse as I ran. Selenite is named after the Greek goddess Selene and is the perfect companion to channel the moon energy especially during the full moon.
Have a fantastic weekend everyone ❤️😇🏃♀️⚖️🔮 #energy#balance#libraseason#spirtualworkout#geterdone 💪 #nomoreexcuses#runningmeditation#itsathing#selfcare#selenite#selene#greekgoddess#moonenergy#selenophile#healthtips#fitnessgoals#crystalsandfitness#yesyoucanhaveitall#1111#mindbodysoul#crystalgroupiedesignsandtherapy
Day 19 - Psyche
Ini ceritanya lebih panjang dari Persephone jadi gimana ya, ya tak singkat aja ya.
Psyche was a very beautiful princess. Because of that, Aphrodite became jealous of her. She then ordered her son, Eros (versi romawi nya adalah Cupid. Sering kan denger Dewa Cinta namanya Cupid? Iya dia putra Aphrodite yang tukang bawa panah2 cinta itu) to make Psyche fell in love with an ugly man, but it failed cause idk why Eros shot himself instead and he fell in love with Psyche. Anu priwe ya njelasnane, Aphrodite then got angry and she cursed Psyche so that nobody would marry her, and she had to marry a creature that lived on a mountain. So yeah that creature is Eros, but... Everytime they met in the night, Eros never showed his face, one day Psyche got curious and she brought a candle. Eros then got angry with her and left her.
Singkat ceritaaaa, Psyche wanted to meet Eros again, she asked Aphrodite and guess what, bisa dikatakan Psyche ini dikerjain sama Aphrodite, dikasih tugas2 yang hampir mustahil tapi si cantik Psyche berhasil nyeleseiin semua. Sooo, akhirnya Psyche met Eros, Eros brought her to Olympus and she became a goddess of human soul. Tau gak anaknya mereka namanya siapa? Yeah, they had a daughter named Hedone (Dewi Kesenangan). Hayo siapa yang sering didatengin sama Dewi Hedone :v
