Great Grandpa Hubert. These pics didn’t see the light of day when pop was alive.. He did everything in his power to try and stop the courtship between my Nan & Pop including standing out the front with a cricket bat waiting for Pop to show up, he threatened him every time 😂 he didn’t like Pop because he came from a big Scottish brood of Summer Hill bad boys haha! A tough old fella, hit with mustard gas and lied about his failing eyesight to go back to war. #historicalpics#family#greatgrandpa
Please say a prayer for my grandpa who has been in and out of the hospital for the last few weeks. His health hasnt been the best the last few years, but he is such a fighter and won't give up. He has a surgery scheduled for monday and we can use all the prayers and prayer warriors we can get. #grandpa#greatgrandpa#lovehimsomuch#prayers
So my Dad had his birthday yesterday and because of all the rain I didn’t get a chance to do this picture of him and his second great grandson. So special!!! Then today my mom and my sisters and I went out for dinner with him to celebrate. So many laughs, just like when we were little!!! #familytime#dadandhisgirls#greatgrandpa#daxonreeve
Listening to oldies got me thinking of my great grandparents a lot. After fighting back tears this morning it clicked. I now realize why I like my life to be so busy, why I’ll come home from working 11 hours and still work on other things at home. It’s cause it keeps my mind off of all the family I have lost over the last 2 years. My great grandfather was 91 years old in this picture and passed away 24 days later. #rip#greatgrandpa#ww2veteran#battleofiwojima#battleofokinawa
This is my grandfather on my mum’s side! I was his very first grandchild and what’s super sweet is I couldn’t for the life of me understand why kids had “papas” and I had a “pepere;” alas, in my toddlerhood I began referring to him as “Papa-a-pere” and despite years of trying to convince me otherwise, it stuck! The three other grandchildren came in three year successions; the boys, Zacharoonie and Jerebear, and then sweet Vicki Love. They all naturally believed his name was just Papa-a-pere and so here we are, twenty five years later, and this wonderful man signs all his cards “love papa-a-pere” and embraces this kooky name I gave him so long ago!
My mother was my grandfather’s first child. He speaks so fondly about her infancy and the tender moments between him and my Nana as they learned to parent alongside one another. There were ups and downs, some lows lasting longer than others where they ate one pot of spaghetti for a month just to make a mortgage payment! But this man, in his age, has grown to embrace the hardships because it’s given him three generations of girls to cherish.
My birth took place during one of Canada’s most severe snowstorms of the decade! The power was out and roads were closed - the hospital was monitoring my mama on back up generators through the dead of night and into morning. For days my mom laboured and my Nana and Papa-a-pere both made the separate journey to the hospital where they would be unified again, for the first time in years, as grandparents. My grandfather only can boast about how remarkably small I was — he could hold me in the palm of his hand! At 6lbs5oz I was an average baby, but I was his first grandchild, from his first child, and he believed from that moment onward the world was officially mine for the taking.
Fast forward, and I had the amazing gift of giving my grandpa his vet first great-grandchild. Murphy is special, OBVIOUSLY, but the love this man has for her is unconditional! I can see generations of gratitude in his eyes when he beams with pride over his littlest girl.
I am the luckiest to have these moments with them both — Papa-a-Pere and his little Pear 🍐 💚 • how cute is her outfit!? •
I just ran across this video that I took in Ohio over the summer. Mase, Land and I went to visit my dad, grandpa, G. grandma and G. Aunt. It was a special moment for me because it was Landon’s first time and Mason was excited to see them. We found these adorable #kiss dolls and had to pick them up for my dad. Seeing as he was a HUGE kiss fan. ❤️😍 It was extremely special. It took everything in my heart and soul not to ball my eye out when Mason starts reacting to seeing his grandfathers. This video is EXTREMELY moving and just further proves that real love NEVER dies. Mason NEVER got to meet either of his grandfathers. But I talk about them all the Time.....I tell stories about them, and through that he has a connection with them. This right here proves it. ❤️🙏🏻✨ #R .I.P. #grandpa#greatgrandpa#ohio#cemetary#love#loveneverdies#inmemory#missyou#grandkids#dad#missyoudad#fathersonfriend#sad#cry

September 15, 2018 | Unscheduled Visit Home
Yesterday my dad told me my great-grandfather or as my family likes to call him, mi Papá Llenito, was in the hospital not doing so well. I cancelled all my weekend plans and drove home to see him. He was at the same hospital my brother, Christian, and my sister, Denise, were born at in Chicago.
When I walked into his room, I was happy to see him sitting up and watching a movie on Telemundo. He has certainly not lost his sense of humor. We asked him if he ate his dinner, he responded, "Hell no, this hospital food is nasty. Those sons of bitches didn't even bring me coffee."/"No chingados, está comida no está buena. Esos hijos de sus pinches madres ni me trajeron mi café. Hahaha
We talked and caught up with him until visiting hours ended. I'm happy to see he hasn't lost his sense of humor and glad he's doing better.
This is a picture of him from his most recent birthday. My advice to you all is to get in your car and go visit your grandparents/great grandparents. Just like us, they aren't on this world forever. Make the time now while they're still alive to show them you love them.
