So happy to have my mom here to help out. We had to take our LittleMan to the ED at 2 am with severe respiratory croup. He was having major difficulty breathing, but all is ok. They gave him a steroid and we were sent on our way to trek the start of our snowstorm. .
LittleMiss had her Blizzard Blitz Swim Meet (how ironic), this weekend as well. So, our weekend consisted of early am prelims and late night finals.
After two days of go, go, go, we decided this afternoon was full of naps and treats. Sometimes you just need to do nothing 💜
It’s been 1 year since my grandma past away and I’ve missed her everyday for the last 365 days.
My grandma was everything I hope to be! She was the perfect combination of sassy and sweet. She was witty and kind to everyone. Everyone who knew her loved her because of how she made them feel.
She loved her family more than anything and I will never forget how loved I felt by her! She is someone I truly inspire to be like and I hope I can honor her legacy! .
So grateful for the relationship I had with her growing up and as an adult. My two older kids adored her and tell me often how much they miss her. Glad I got to spend a few moments with my family honoring this amazing lady..
You know that question people ask, “if you could spend an evening with anyone living or dead, who would it be?” I would choose my grandma, every single time. The older I get, the more I realize that it was her who shaped my character, my attitude and the way I think about things. My mom of course did as well, but she was surviving and keeping me fed and sheltered. That’s hard work, not a lot of time for fluffy feely extras. My grandma, that’s who talked to me, listened to me, taught me things, made me work. She took me to town on the bus just so I’d know how it was to not have a car to get around. She made me peel every potato for every holiday dinner for years and years because she said I needed to learn. We listened to bluegrass music on her teeny kitchen radio because she said my music was terrible and bluegrass was the basis for all music anyway. She said box mix brownies are best, no from-scratch recipe ever comes out the same, she’s so right on this one. She let me play in the barn and the creek on her farm until I was a smelly, dirty mess, but I had to strip down naked on the back porch and run to the bathtub because there was no way I was gonna trash her clean house. She told me to wear comfortable shoes to work, save your feet she said! And always wear a little lipstick and mascara, that’s really all a beautiful girl needs anyway, she said. A million more life’s lessons all crammed into about 40 years give or take, if I could, I’d make her tell me her life story from start to finish. Sparing no details. I want I to know it all. She’s roll her eyes at me for saying she’s who I pick to spend an evening with- she’s say pick Kennedy or Elvis or someone more significant but I’m here to tell you there isn’t anyone more significant than the love of your life. #theloveofyourlife#grandmasarethebest
Every year since Jack was born my Grandma Carol has hand made felt ornaments for our tree. This is a tradition she has been doing for decades with all her children and grandchildren. I look forward to the package arriving every year and Jack loves putting these ornaments on the tree first! Thank you Grandma Carol for giving us such treasured ornaments. 😘 I still love the hand print one she does for the baby’s first Christmas♥️♥️♥️ #christmastraditions#grandmasarethebest#homemadeornaments#edmondmoms#keepingtraditionsalive#ilovechristmas 🎄
I can’t believe it... My Gramma passed away 5 years ago and for the past 4 years since moving to Colorado it was always my dream to have the same custom plate here that she had in Nebraska. ‘LV 2 GO’ represented her zest for life, her thirst for traveling, and her just being the busy body she loved to be. Basically everything I too like to be.
But for the past 4 years someone else here had this custom plate until this year, they finally freed it. And guess who got it? ME!
Even more fitting since I recently bought my sweet new car that it’s going to look amazing on.
I could not be any happier and grateful right now. This is for you, Gramma. I love and miss you!
Today we celebrated the life of my grandma. She was one of the most special people in my life. My “Bobbies” gave me 45 years of amazing memories and shaped me into who I am today. When ever I think of her I will always think of her sense of adventure. But at the end of the day she was my comfort, my home, and my Bobbies. She loved us with every ounce of her being and I loved her back just as hard.
My Granny hasn’t been feeling well. She hasn’t been to church in months or the hair salon. She loves the Lord and loves looking cute. She still is not 💯 percent. That’s ok. I told her to come and get her hair done. WHEN YOU LOOK GOOD, YOU FEEL GOOD!!!!!! #grandmasarethebest
So, when I was a kid, my Granmda Lynn had this red shoe ornament... after moving so much the last couple years, it ended up lost, and I was pretty sad. But what should I find when I come home from work?☺️♥️ #grandmasarethebest#christmas#minneapolis
Today my family said goodby to the Matriarch of my mother’s side, Grandma Hansel to me. She was 97. My grandmother was the epitome of a hard-working, salt-of-the-earth, family centered, helluva woman. She was stubborn, loved deeply and unconditionally, and was incredibly goofy. She and my grandfather grew most of their own food, she baked the best bread from scratch, and believed in being self sufficient, right up to the end. Being the tie-dyed sheep of the family, she always made sure I knew she thought I was beautiful, smart, and loved. What a gift she was to the world and if there’s such thing as heaven, she’s surely there, making sure the floors are fit to eat off of. .
The other day, they made a cake. Cute little buddies. What a gift it is to be the caretaker of kids that belong to you by love but not by biology. Some of my favorite moments of life have taken place in this kitchen... Life giving and faith building moments.... This life is so good. The walls and cabinets and countertops of this kitchen were put together by my mom and dad (and friends) even while their marriage and our family was being torn apart. Much time has passed since then. It is the same walls that have heard and seen things that are painful and tragic and hard. And now this kitchen holds an answer to the promise that "He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion"...This kitchen is often center-stage for those life changing moments, for the drawing in of those left out and left behind, for the unfulfilled longings that are hard to think about but made easier by the warm, methodical nature of washing dishes, and a close enough, comforting space to feel others laughing across the island counter. My mom's heart of hospitality that comes from a Messiah who makes room for us constantly spills out in this room. "Grandma, can we make a cake pleaseeeee???" Mom answers from the next room: "Um, no it's like 6:00pm and we need to eat dinner!" To which Grandma disregards and says, "This is grandma's house and I say yes!" And so then I got two happy girls that felt seen and heard and loved at the island counter. Licking spoons and bowls and feeling loved. This kitchen has been redeemed in so many ways. There is so much joy in it. And coffee, which is basically the same thing! You wanna come over?! The next party is NYE. Come and be loved and included and seen and surrounded with yummy food and coffee and treats and doggy lap sits and cozy blankets and everything warm and safe and good. #hospitalityisnotdead#gospellife#thesearemypeople#makethecake#grandmasarethebest @jane.snyder.545 #ilovethekitchen#bigfamiliesrock#webelongtoeachother#singlemomlife
An oldie but a goodie! In early 2012, I had a feeling that my (now late) Grandma Koko would be making this her last trip to California. I hired a photographer to take pictures of us at the park so I could have some nice picture memories of us when she was gone. I forgot about these until tonight when I was looking through old computer files and unearthed this gem. #grandmasarethebest#whatarewelookingat
