Painting Norway—a quick 1st wash done. This is just a practice piece on a scrap sheet, but it feels good to START! #gonorway2018 #watercolorlandscape
I included Ålesund in my Norway itinerary because I wanted my own photo references to paint this amazing view. The weather, however, was so uncooperative that day—raining nonstop—that my shots were awful. I had decided to just give up trying to capture this scene, but stopped in for a cup of coffee at the cafe here at the overlook. So glad I did. When I came out, the sky had partially cleared, giving me a brief 10-minute window to get a better shot. Though not ideal, I’m pretty happy with how my iPhone captured it, and I’m hoping my Nikon D7100 produces even better references! #gonorway2018

Can’t tell where the land ends and water reflection begins...stillest water I’ve ever seen. #gonorway2018

On the road toward Briksdalbreen glacier, I had already been dazzled by the intense green-blue glacial waters spread out around me, and then this view appeared. The glacier rested on the top of these grand mountains like a small crown. I wish I had the time to just stop and gaze for awhile, so awe-inspiring was the scene before me. #gonorway2018

My best shots on this adventure in Norway have been the ones I didn’t plan and which just completely took me by surprise. This one was no exception. I was headed toward Briksdalbreen, a glacier you can hike to, when I suddenly saw this glacier in the background. I’m glad I quick stopped to capture it because when I later got to Briksdalbreen, it was very foggy and rainy and I decided not to do the hike. I just love the blue ice of the glacier! #gonorway2018

Rainy days are good opportunities to capture the landscape in B&W. This is the view from where I’m staying tonight...not too bad. #gonorway2018

Give me the open spaces, the verdant green and rocky crags, with great stretches of liquid blue as far as the eye can see. God’s handiwork amazes me.

First day in Norway—driving seven hours from Oslo to the Lysefjorden through mountains and I am absolutely awestruck by the beauty here! #gonorway2018

Hovedoya, the “main island” off Oslo on the Oslofjorden hosts an art gallery in an old, beautifully restored barn. This piece of artwork is actually a fabric mosaic...stunning to behold! #travelgirl #gonorway2018
