HYDRAULIC DIE CUTTING FOR SERIES PRODUCTION with BELINDA NEWICK @belindanewick
In this workshop, participants will learn how to make their own unique “pancake” die and use it to cut shaped blanks from non-ferrous sheet metal, using the 20 tonne hydraulic press.
This technique can be useful for series production of finished jewellery items, or for any project requiring numerous identical components.
Preparing and saw piercing the tool steel and acrylic dies is expected to take the majority of the workshop time. Production of a finished piece of jewellery is not expected within the allotted timeframe. However, participants will be able to hire ongoing access to the NC4 hydraulic press to practice and refine their skills as Access Space visitors. Each ticket to the workshop includes one free half day in the Northcity4 Access workshop
Basic metalworking skills are required for this workshop - participants will need to be familiar with annealing, drilling, and saw piercing. We encourage you to contact Northcity4 if you have any questions about the skills required.
