"Black Mother, it's good to see you two," she whispered.
"... I MISSED YOU..."
"... o, please..."
"...I MISSED THE MOGGY LESS..."
Mia ran her hands down the length of the shadowwolf's body. There was no sensation of being able to touch her, but petting Eclipse was like petting a cool breeze.
"When did you arrive?"
"...YESTERTURN. BUT YOU WERE NOT YET RETURNED FROM THE VENATUS..."
"...things went well, i take it..."
"I'm not dead, if that counts for anything."
Mister Kindly nuzzled against her ear, and Mia's skin tingled. It felt like being kissed by cigarillo smoke.

Happy Wednesday Angels
Let's get some bookish unpopular opinions out of the way: have any at the moment or recently?
Mine: I'm more excited for Darkdawn, which is almost a year from coming out, than I am for Kingdom of Ash, that is coming out in daysss😐
It's because I hate what transpired in EoS... which I know is ridiculous because look what series I'm more excited for! However, with Nevernight, the whole theme is violent and tragic but Mia still does catch some breaks, if you will... Aelin? She never F'ing has🙈 I need balance and I can find zero. Still going to read it but I'll be impatiently waiting some form of happiness... it better not be 800 pages in.

I've finished listening to Godsgrave by @misterkristoff on audiobook today and what can I say ?
I adore this book as much if not more than the first one.
And I can't wait for the release of Darkdawn next year.
Good morning 😊
I seriously can’t wait for the weekend. I’m so exhausted and stressed out.
Though reading on the train is going great! I’m about halfway though Always and Forever Lara Jean now and it’s just as cute as the other two books!
How is your week going? 😊
😀😀Monday is over!!😀😀 I have gotten a few pages into Godsgrave. I gave my friend Nevernight to read and she loved it so she is waiting for me to finish this one. 🍁

¿Cuál es tu libro favorito del año? (por ahora claro)
Books you are happy you gave a second chance?
I was a little on the fence the first time I read Nevernight, but after six month's of gushing from @bookwnoname I decided to give it another go, and I am so happy I did. I mean I liked Nevernight, but Godsgrave is WHOA (even though I pretty much anti-ship the main pairing...bleh). I cannot wait for Darkdawn. Jay Kristoff has basically become one of my favorite people. 😁
#grimdragon - "Well, now that is done fucked up shit." / Blood pools, giant man eating worms, sex murder, political intrigue, poisoning, some questionable bedmates....there is some messed up stuff going on - in the best way possible. 👍👍👍
#somethingstrangeoct18 - If anyone asks, I've left the country: stressful situations / Mia's entire life is stressful...I so could not hack it as an assassin. 😮
#bookreadhappyhour - #topfive favorite series:
🌹The Raven Cycle (of course)🌌
🌹The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy 🚀
🌹The Dark Tower🥀
🌹The Lord of The Rings🌳
🌹The Nevernight Chronicles 🗡
That's the list for today. Tomorrow, who knows. 🤷♀️
I have to socialize tonight...and tomorrow. Wish me luck!🤯🤯🤯

While I did like this better than Nevernight, I didn’t like it enough to rate it 4 stars. Maybe it was partly down to my book hangover, but also I can’t seem to fully immerse myself in this world because I just don’t understand it!
I don’t seem to have any problem with imagining how, for example, shapeshifting works (I just kind of accept that it could 😆), but I guess when some aspect of the world is familiar to me, I notice when it doesn’t make sense. In the case of the Nevernight Chronicle, the world has three suns that hardly ever set. Well, it’s a bit more complicated than that (sometimes there are only two or one in the sky??) but I still. Don’t. Get. It. 😂 Can anyone tell me how having three suns in the sky would work?! 🤨
There also seemed to be an inconsistency with the first book, in that super bright light previously meant darker shadows for Mia to grasp, but in Godsgrave the bright light made her hold on them weaker. I realise this will make no sense to those who haven’t read the book, sorry! I suck at summarising stories... Anyway, I was a bit confused. 🤷🏻♀️
I do still like Mia a lot, and Kristoff’s humour and use of footnotes is easier to bear now I’m used to his style, haha. I had fun discussing this with @colourmeread and hope we can listen to Darkdawn when it’s released! 😄 The ending of Godsgrave is certainly a cliffhanger, haha.
"It's funny, but when you take a person out of the world, you don't just take them, do you?
You take everything they were, too.
Do you ever think about that?
Do you ever think about that?"
I really enjoyed Nevernight, so I was looking forward to listening to Godsgrave. It was...good. I enjoyed Nevernight way more, but Godsgrave wasn't too bad. A lot of new characters were introduced which was a little hard to follow, but not having confusing names was helpful. A lot of the plot twists were quite predictable, or in the lead up to the twist you could guess what will happen next.
Also, a lot of the sub-stories were, I felt, unnecessary and distracting. They took up more space than necessary.
Mia Corvere remained a flawed badass, and he progression was wonderful to witness. I admire her imperfection, and it makes a reader realize that you don't have to be perfect to be great.
A pretty good follow up. Not great, but good. .
« You’ve got the look of a girl who’s no stranger to the page. I can tell you’ve got words in your soul. »
I’m in love with that quote 🖤 i couldn’t stop thinking about it after i had read it.. and i finally received this print that I’ve been eyeing for so long ! It’s so so pretty, i can’t wait to put it on my wall.
I’m also in love with this cover and this book... we still don’t know what the UK cover for Darkdawn is going to look like... I REALLY WANT TO SEE IT THOUGH ! I know it’ll be epic as is everything about this series ⚔️🖤⚔️ - what are you personal favourite quotes ?
Let’s do an emoji day! What are your favorite autumn/October/Halloween emojis?

For some reason, after seeing this quote (my absolute favorite from Beetlejuice🖤) my mind went immediately to Speaker Adonai. I mean, who is this guy? Albino sorcerii? Likes blood? For those of you who’ve read Nevernight and Godsgrave (you haven’t? Why not?), like me, aren’t you dying to see what happens with him in Darkdawn? Only one year to go. No big deal. I’ll wait. //whistles a really long waiting tune//. Anyway, this dude is both sexy and weird and I can’t figure him out. And of course, I want more!
I love these little dudes: 👻😈💀🍁🎃🐻☠️🐿🥃❄️🌯Can’t we just use them all year long?
Yes. There is a burrito in there. What?
Helloo lovely people whom my posts still reach lol so I recently finished reading Nevernight last Monday and I loved it so much!! It did take a couple months for me to finish it but the blame's all on me and not the book. 😂
The main plot itself was okay, not that many mindblowing twists, but I really loved the backstories of our main girl Mia Corvere. I think it added a great amount of depth to the character and made me connect with her even more. There were tons of other interesting characters, too, which made my reading all the more entertaining.
What really made me adore the book, however, was the wit and humor of the book. Specifically the witty, hilarious, and occasionally sassy narrator and his footnotes. 😂 This book was indeed a darker, grittier, and gorier book than the ones I've read before but the narrator's humor really balances it all out.
All in all I really enjoyed this read. It was certainly different from my normal reads (in a good way!) and I can't wait to read the next book!
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
How about you? What was your last read and what was your rating?
"This is not where I die" "I've got too much killing to do"
Finished up the latest instalment of The Nevernight Chronicles. 'Byss and blood it was awesome!
This book sees Mia fighting her way through a Gladiator tournament for an opportunity to take out two of the targets of her vengeance.
Throughout the book, revelation upon revelation is unveiled about Mia's past and family. To say some of it game changing is a gross understatement.
Can't say much more without needless spoilers 😁
The banter between Eclipse and Mister Kindly was side splitting. Their constant barbs every time they share a scene is brilliant. It's interesting as well their different takes on certain characters.
The footnotes continue to provide darkly humorous background and commentary. I kinda wish more books would use these, it works so well!
Can't wait to see what happens in the doubtlessly explosive conclusion... but I have to as it's ages away!
✴Change ✴ It is the essence of life. It is inevitable. When we are willing to surrender and submit.... Decisions, actions and obedience. All of these words and concepts were so foriegn to me and because of my independent mentality were very hard to grasp. However, these past few months have taught me some of my greatest life leasons. Forever grateful to have experienced all that I have and for who has come into my life. Definitely has been rewarding even through some of my bipolar emo seasons, I knew it was to prepare me for what is next. I AM so ready, yet I know patience, trust, faith, and time will tell and unfold his ☝️ plan as it always has been better than mine. #GodsPlan#GodsGrave#Faith#HishasAlwaysbeenBetter#Trust#ISubmit#ISurrender#LeadMe#LetgoAndLetGod#Blessed#BeaBlessing#Passion#Puspose#Mission#lifejourney#spiritualjourney
Of course I’m going to have a breakdown daily, I mean, if I don’t I wouldn’t be me, right?
Anyways, summing things up. This is my personal October tbr. Yeah, it doesn’t have many hokks, and yeah, I’m late, but hey! I managed to finish another two books this October (More Happy Than Not and Holding up the Universe), so technically, I’m good. The Ghost Story book is actually pretty long, and I’m a mood reader. I’ll see what I read.
