Book # 36 completed. This book marks the 52nd book I have read in 2018 and it was great. I will try to avoid plot information as best as I can. The story of Jonas would have been resonated with middle school/high school me even more than adult me and I still found myself enjoying it.
The movie? It was not a bad movie. However, as an adaptation of this book, I did not like some things about it. I thought the eye color was important in the book, that didn't make it to film. The respect for the elderly the community seems to show in the book also did not make it to the film. But my biggest problem was the age of Jonas and his friends. They were 12, not 18 in the book. Not a big deal, right? Wrong. The connection Jonas has with his family and the giver were sacrificed for a storyline from the book that was embellished to give moviegoers a typical film story. I felt it strayed into Hunger Games/Divergent story a bit too much and that was not the direction of the book. Oh, well. I still liked Jeff Bridges as The Giver. "Jonas was careful about language." "When something went to a committee for study, the people always joked about it. They said that the committee members would become Elders by the time the rule change was made." "Almost every citizen in the community had dark eyes... but there were a few exceptions Jonas himself and a female 5 who he had noticed had different lighter eyes." " 'We thank you for your childhood.' " " 'Climate control. Snow made growing food difficult, limited the agricultural periods. And unpredictable weather made transportation almost impossible at times. It wasn't a practical thing, so it became obsolete when we went to Sameness.' " " 'It's the life that was created for them it's the same life you would have had...' "

So this happened today 🎉🙌🏼💃🏻 Ahh!!! Can't even begin to comment on how terrible the form is and everything else wrong with the video 😂 but I randomly decided to try a press today (was in a dress) and got all the way up! Ran up to change clothes and immediately documented 😆 because I mean if not, did it even happen?! Lol
My morning workout! I got on the treadmill and walked at 3.3 speed for 3 min. Then I increased it to 4.0 and jogged for 30 min. I cannot believe that I actually jogged for 30 min straight!!! That's crazy. I met my first goal.

Back on June 10th, we launched a three-phase initiative called “Refresh” to regroup, refocus, and reintroduce ourselves to our neighbors. Phase One (Regroup) will conclude tomorrow and we will begin Phase Two (Refocus). Our biggest goal for the Regroup phase was to gather 30 adults who would commit to ‘showing up and getting things done’. This goal isn’t arbitrary; it represents the critical mass of people needed to serve well without burning people out. With 30 adults, we can serve in shifts, creating a rhythm of rest and sharing the mission.

So this post is a little late. My body as amazing as it is has been fighting 3 attacks on itself the last week & boy did I feel it! But my body won! I thank my #healthylifestyle . So this is the finalization of my #julychallenge of moving 30 min EACH day. I made it! I had to “call out” one day due to illness :/. But part of this challenge was to remember that sometimes rest is needed and not ALL activity has to be #diehard . #imadeit . . .

#fitbit stats for last week. My #goal was 5 green stars for hitting my daily #stepcount . I exceeded!!! 6 days 10k! And yesterday I was only 600 steps below the goal, but I just couldn't go anymore. So another week's #goalmet ! Next week goal 6 stars again! # journeytohealth

Yes!!!! My goal after this morning’s hilly bike ride was to get a short run in and keep it in the 8’s. The Georgia afternoon heat & humidity on tired legs turned it into a suffer-fest thru hot molasses. But...ALL WORTH IT when I made it home and saw my 8:29 avg. despite all the above. I know this doesn’t come close to real athletes, I’m just thankful to be 3 years from 50 and active. Can't quite believe it but I ALREADY HIT MY 6-WEEK @mud_sweat_tears_1 GOAL. I'm down 3.5% body fat and have put on a ton of muscle. I now have 3 more weeks to help the numbers on the scales follow by burning more efficiently with all my new muscle strength. In the past I was so obsessed with losing huge numbers but seeing those results have blown my mind! Muscle weighs more than fat people. So excited to see tone and definition again.
