“You must plan to be spontaneous.”- David Hockney
I’m a planner by nature!
Our last road trip I planned every stop we were going to make and had reservations at all the campgrounds. I realized halfway through that we were so focused on getting to our next destination that we weren’t able to truly “enjoy the ride.” So we stopped (unplanned!😮) at the next place and found this little nook! Watched the sunset, ate some dinner and let Laila and Hazel run free! 🤪
We leave in 10 days! No reservations!😬Yes, I still have a plan, but there is definitely some wiggle room!🤗
Visiting every National Park is at the top of my “must do” list. Last week, I was able to check one off the list after visiting Joshua Tree.
I originally planned for cool, sunny weather, as the park averages only one rainy day a month. But to Mother Natures’s surprise, it rained the both days we visited. And yep, we even were blessed with sideways rain at moments.
Good thing we have lots of practice with rain in the Pacific Northwest. It’s a beautiful area and the rain couldn’t damper our spirits. Okay, well not mine, but perhaps my toddler.
Insert picture of my toddler saying she’s entirely over seeing anymore prickly looking trees.
What are your top favorite NP? Would love to find my next adventure!
Looks like we got snow early this winter! @tristan_ramnath woke up early at 6am yesterday morning because he wanted to catch the snowflakes on his tongue when they began to fall. He said they taste gross by the way😛
Have you ever eaten snow cream? 🤷🏽♀️I’ve never made it and don’t think I want to try it either. I know that people use clean containers to catch the snow for the recipe, but I just can’t seem to get over the fact it came from outdoors😂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ski season is in full force!! Do you love the winter or begrudgingly deal with it waiting for spring? I used to hate the winter and being cold.. but funny thing winter lasted just as long and my choosing to not like it didn't make it go away. 😂 I decided to embrace the cold and you know what??? I love hiking and playing in the snow now!! I'll admit I'm still not a fan of shoveling and the like but I choose to see the beauty and joy in so called bad weather now!
This time last year instead of giving gifts to each other and to our kids we gave the gift of experience and the gift of travel! We took our family to New Zealand and a year later it is still the most talked about trip we have ever taken! The memories and experiences stand out far above any gift they have been given for Christmas!
What do you think about giving experiences over gifts?
Wanna know the best part of this picture? It was taken at the end of an VERY full day and they were still all smiles and laughter 😍 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When days fill up either by our own doing or from others, it can make life stressful for us mamas. We worry about meal times, melt downs, keeping the kids occupied, behavior, you name it and we see the opportunity for a..."situation" to arise. And let's be real, those situations are embarrassing and stressful! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Saturday was filled with lots of things for us - escape rooms, holiday lights, dining out, long car rides, and we came out "situation" free How?!? By planning ahead and making the kids a part of the process. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A great deal of life's stresses stem from not clearly knowing what is to come, but when you take a few minutes to lay out the plan including the expectations along the way everyone feels way more at ease and ready for all the day has in store. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Show me in emojis what your family did over the weekend.
🎶 I wanna fly like an eagle to the sea, Fly like an eagle let my spirit carry me🎶
What a rush it was to fly over Labadee on the Dragon’s Fire Flight Line! This was the first time in 6 months we left the kids to have a day date and it was so much fun! The beach and Zip Line were close to the ship so we knew we could go back with ease if the Adventure Ocean club needed us, but thankfully they didn’t so we got to enjoy a fun afternoon and some drinks! .
Thrill-seeker in training! 🎢⠀
At 3 years old, I wasn't really sure how Evelyn would take to the rides at Disneyland. But we still tried them all...turns out she loves the fast ones, but not so much the dark and scary!⠀
Good news is there's lots of choose from at Disneyland, even for preschoolers, toddlers, and even babies!⠀
Check out our latest post over on the blog: a complete guide to planning your Disneyland trip with kids under 5!

Why do they grow up so fast? 2 years ago at the Great Wall of China feels like a few months ago! And now that I just finished breastfeeding (mission accomplished) I really feel like my baby is slipping away. I will just keep on making special memories that I can cherish hard. And hope they continue to get better and better!
I love to share these special moments with you but what I'd love to share even more is what we have learned through experiencing things along the way.
Do me a favor and tell me- if I shared all the details behind the scenes, what would you mean most interested in hearing about?
I'm an open book and would to see other families growing together and bonding through these amazing experiences. ❤
This week, we're so excited to introduce you to a family that has shown us that adventure is possible, no matter what mountains you have to climb to get there. If you haven't already met Melody Forsyth and her adorable daughter, Ruby, now is your chance! Ruby was born with Down Syndrome and has been going on adventures with her family since she was just under a year old. Today, Melody is sharing how hiking and exploring the outdoors together has impacted Ruby and strengthened their bond as a family: "Our hiking travels have provided the most amazing experiences, not only for my family but especially for Ruby. We have been able to expose her to so many different environments. She looks around everywhere we go, and when we set her down, no matter what the terrain, she will run her fingers through it and explore. You can tell that she is just soaking up everything around her. It has been such a blessing for her development."⠀
Have any of you traveled with children with disabilities? If so, we'd love to hear how your adventures have shaped your little ones! Share with us in the comments. #gowithnugget ⠀
Just the other day we read an article in the @matadornetwork about the expressions we use to extend our best wishes to people who are going to travel, to take their trips, to embark on a journey.
@matthershberger, a writer, blogger and traveler, strongly suggests do not say ”Have a safe trip” in that case. While it’s a good wish, at first sight, the underlying meaning of these words implied that “the world is dangerous, and I hope it doesn’t hurt you”. It gives the impression that it’s not safe to go anywhere by default, but since you’re going to, you should beware and watch your back. That’s really a little depressing, don’t you think so?
“Enjoy and have fun!” could be a new motto of open-minded travellers, especially for those #littlestraveltheworld 😉

Pure joy. 😊
The other day, out of the blue, Rowan said "Mom, I really love Thailand". It may have been due to the fact that random strangers just gave her two cups of ice cream (shortly after she finished the one we bought) but still, it melted my heart and made me feel like we are doing something right. 💛
