Throwback... oh snap, it happens to be Thursday! Why not throwback any day?
My mind travels everywhere no matter what geographic location I happen to be in. It can be a blessing as well as a curse - in most cases though, it's a wonderful feeling. I enjoy discovering the similarities as well as differences of a new environment with places I've been in the past. I get to relive some wonderful memories in the wilderness, around the cities, solo or with company, in my mind and through captured visuals like this. This particular moment speaks greatly to me because it was the last venture in the New Zealand backcountry before I (unexpectedly) departed that gorgeous land and place several months back. The 3 of us had walked/paddled through the very wet autumn weather in the Nelson Lakes region before emerging out of the thick forested area into this river tributary. The vast openness and sweeping panoramic views of the valley around us and up the river valley are something else. There was an immense sense of scale and along with that our insignificance not only size but as part of a greater working ecosystem transporting water, nutrients, micro and macro living beings in the air, in the water, as well as the soil doing their parts to not only survive, but also upheld their roles to support a healthy web of life. So here I am, physically at a hip, upbeat, little café in Ventura, California just a couple stones' throw from the Pacific Ocean, and my mind is time-and-place-traveling to other corners in 4 dimensional space. What a wonderful gift.
Do you do it for the gram? Do you go somewhere just for the photo?
. . . . . . .
I saw this question posed this week by someone I’d say very against it...
It’s a question that can open a whole kettle of fish but I do wonder if the experience of place has been appreciated or is it really just for a photo for Instagram.
I find it’s a hard question to answer. If you’re a landscape photographer, part of your job is scoping out places to capture then you go take your shots and leave.. If you’re a content creator your job is basically photoshoots whenever that might take you.
Most of those photos go up on IG...
I love taking photos and my camera goes everywhere. I also research different types of shots, ideas etc
I go out on hikes on the weekend with ideas for photos at the top and I spend more time than the average person getting shots throughout the hike... but I actually do love to hike! I love to adventure, see new and ‘old’ places. I also love the challenge of capturing them and sharing them. It’s fun!
I would never... say, set up a tent, take a photo and leave. I’d actually go camp because I love it... If I want a shot on Machu Picchu you can be dang sure I’m climbing to get there.. is that the difference?
I guess for me, do I think it’s wrong to just do it for the gram.. meh that’s up to you... I think we should always be aware with the message we’re sending with our photos, keep it real, keep it humble... I also think when we see these posed or pretty photos on IG we should remember there’s a whole other world to IG now and a lot of it is business...
I do encourage you though to think about where you are.. appreciate it, experience it, embrace it.
Why do you guys think? I feel like my thoughts are a bit everywhere on this one..

Huka falls looking moody and pristine in the fog, this waterfall is pumping out 220,000 litres of emerald coloured water per second. The sound it generates is epic and full of energy. Definitely worth checking out! 🤙
Lake Tarawera is the largest of a series of lakes which surround the volcano Mount Tarawera in the North Island of New Zealand. Like the mountain, it lies within the Okataina caldera. It is located 18 kilometres to the east of Rotorua, and 5 kilometres to the west of the mountain. The lake's surface area is 39 square kilometres.

Meet The No Comply Network Member 151# @jazzwadeillustration
Jazz is an illustrator and skateboarder, living in Leicester. "Skateboarding is the best thing out there! It opens your eyes to such a varied and creative world, it gives you the chance to meet so many people and look at life around you in a completely different way.
Skateboarding and making some form of art or expressing yourself creatively is the key to happiness/
When I have an idea for an illustration I usually just go straight in with pen or paint and hope for the best, filling up space with repeating pattern and line work and hope to make something visually appealing.
At the moment I’m really into Japanese skateboarding as the videos and art are on another level like @Evisenskateco and @tightbooth, brands such as @magentaskateboards, @krooked @trafficskateboardss and @polarskateco all project skateboarding and their art direction in such a unique and exciting way, that gets me hyped and brakes away from the norm
Skaters like #maxpalmer , @erik.winkowski and @brentatchley get me hyped!
Artists such as @Ed.Templeton @ParadoxHirotten, @Egonschiele and #Gonz all have a huge influence on my illustrations.
The No Comply Network is rad because it gives creative people a chance to showcase their art and get into the public eye and get influenced by each other and connect their passions!
I’ve got a few events coming up where I’m selling my work such as an event called Frida Kahloft on the 31st of August at Firebug in LC and a festival event at Orangetree in LC on the 1st Sept. Also doing a few commissions here and there, doing a little something for @cartwightskatebmxshop and a few other bits and bobs.
Really want to start making more product and exhibiting my work to a wider audience and do more projects with more people! Skate and film with the @bagheadcrew and all my mates and make a ton of art"
