El Cristo de La Havana is one of few Jesus statues around the world. Though intended to look like he is giving a blessing, some locals think it looks more like he’s holding a mojito in one hand, and a cigar in the other. What makes this one special, is that a) a woman created him, #jimlamadera and b) he has non-white features: fuller lips, wavy hair, etc. .
As a non-believer, I can say a Jesus with a drink in one hand, cigar in the other, and with non-white features is a Jesus I can get behind. Because we know damn well, if there is a god they definitely weren’t white. SHE most definitely was black. 😝
Out with the negativity, In with the positivity.
I've been feeling very out of place and extremely emotional lately and I really needed a day off with my thoughts and although it can be a double edge sword I have come to terms with how I'm feeling. I've decided this week won't end up like it started.
The unknown is a funny place. Filled with fear, and what-ifs. But what if we decided to make our home in the unknown? What if we decided to stay awhile? Where would it take us, where would we go? Because you see, when you make excuses for not knowing, you are only trapping yourself. Who ever knows? We are all learning as we go, but you can’t learn, until you GO. What if we became comfortable in chaos, and truly embraced the unknown? What if we let our dreams take us further than the limitations of our fears? I’m living in a time where I have a lot of really crazy cool opportunities swirling around me, a lot of balls up in the air, and there is NO RIGHT ANSWER for the path I should take. I don’t know where I will find the newest version of stability, and I don’t know how exactly I’m going to get there - but I know I will get there, and it will be great. Greatness has never been achieved in comfort. Epic milestones have never been hit by knowing everything from the beginning, the power is created in the learning process. So despite the chaos, in the face of uncertainty - I choose peace, I choose self-induced comfort, and I choose to make my home in the unknown. My home is not a place - it is a spirit I create , a safe space within myself, filled with belief, hope, love, magic, and light. This is what I choose to carry with me no matter what the external circumstances may be. The unknown is home. 🙏🏻✨🔥
“Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses” 🌹 Lately this quote has been popping into my head a lot. Maybe it’s because I’m now surrounded by beauty & life each day at my job, or maybe it’s because I’ve learned just how important it is to enjoy each moment. Regardless of how I truly feel I still find myself being easily distracted with social media, Netflix, etc. Spending too much time scrolling aimlessly and ignoring real life. This is my accountability post, I want to use social media in a different way. I’m going to start posting more stories and ideas and thoughts of mine along with the photos I take. This will hopefully inspire me to adventure more, enjoy the present moment and use these platforms as a way to express my creativity and do what excites my brain, not what makes it feel like mush! This could get weird real quick, but hope you stay along for the ride! 😬😎❤️ #createwithlove#stopandsmelltheroses#creativewriting#photography#nature#beyourself#bepresent#trysomethingnew#nb#flowerpower flower_daily #flowermagic#gltlove#girlswhowander
Last year I decided to take a quick trip to Myanmar and it was probably the most interesting place I’ve been to! There are hardly any tourists, so locals walking in the street stare at you like you’re a celebrity 💁🏽♀️haha. A must do when visiting the city Yangon, is to take the “circle train” that gives a very *slow* scenic route through the outskirts of the city! Right here was the Danyingon stop where tons of vendors are lined up selling food and people are making deals right through the window!😊🚃
What’s one of the most interesting places you’ve been to?
LIFE: Don't jump back into the same self-sabotaging patterns. 😑
ME: *Does the exact opposite* 🤦🏽♀️
What can we do to counteract these patterns? 👇🏼
- Get to know yourself, with a stronger self of identity it will be easier for you to stop yourself from doing something that goes against what you want. 🕵🏼♀️
- Be mindful. Practicing staying present can empower you to put a stop to these tendencies the moment you are aware of them crawling back. 🧘🏽♀️
- Practice self compassion. It's not easy to build this, it requires commitment to ourselves - choosing to be understanding instead of judgemental! This will remove the "unworthy" feeling that tends to trigger self-sabotage. 💓
