This yoga teacher training is kicking my ass and my ego. I’ve learned that a majority of this journey is to figure out my own demons to be the best yoga instructor I can be. These past few weeks have been challenging emotionally and physically, and I can vaguely make out what the end of this certification might look like, which is making me question where I’ll be on the other side. •
So I returned to my basics this weekend, bought a whole chicken, butchered it, made stock, made chicken and rice soup with the breasts, and Jb finished off our bird tonight by roasting it with @savoryspiceshop blackening spice, giblet gravy, chive fork mashed potatoes, and blanched green beans with white onion. I feel like I’m returning to my own basics. And it tastes real frickin good🍴🥂
For #Thanksgiving , this was my only job. It is my favorite job. Brother in law did the Turkey, someone else the mashed potatoes. Though mashed potatoes are also a favorite. I hope you have much to be thankful for this Christmas season.#gibletgravy
Tradition flew out the window when my Dad (pure Chinese) married my mom (pure Pinay) in a civil ceremony (gasp, no Church wedding?), decades ago (they married in Church eventually, I don’t know when and how old I was as they never celebrate).
So it comes as no surprise that I didn’t march during my college graduation (had issues with professors and the dress code😂), married early to everyone’s great astonishment, and am celebrating Thanksgiving 4 days late, with the pumpkin in the stuffing and not the pie, and no pie to speak of because I’m a lazybones non-baker. Some traditions, though, are meant to be honored, such as roast turkey, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, cornbread and leftovers. Glorious leftovers.
Happy #thanksgiving . Our non traditional, belated dinner was one for the books. 😊
@artofmanliness I tried your #turkey dry rub idea and it came out amazing. The drippings and giblets made an awesome #gibletgravy with a recipe from @thepioneerwoman. Since y’all are both #okies y’all should do a #thanksgiving#colaboration next year and just plan the whole dang meal!
My in-laws live in the middle of the country and don't like garlic...or flavors. My only contribution to dinner tonight, and the only garlic I'm liable to eat in 8 days, is the giblet gravy. But it was damn fine. .
